Along with the wonderful dance studio (which, by the way has a 250 year contract with the city of Berlin!), a vibrant visual art sector of the premisise lies across the street. Uferhallen is it's name and the two Ufer complexes are inhabited by many of Berlin's most talented artists. The types of art there range from dancing to painting, from promoting the growth of bacteria to simply trying to live in the sleepless pace.
It is important to keep in mind that many visual artists live in there studios, so when visiting the grounds, pay particular attention to how you may effecting their daily rutine.
Many of artists are very nice.
I worked as an intern here for 4 months in Winter 2012. Every day I would eat at the local cafe/restaurant called Café Pförtner. There they had large lunches for a good price. The cooks are younger Italian men and they do a great job of bringing a little Italan taste to the artist community under the grey, soupy Berlin skies. The restaurant is open to the public.
Explore the bus.
Watch for exhibits and concerts every week. There are even some exhibits specially geared toward kids.
