We had brunch at Ufer on a Sunday afternoon after finding it on Yelp. It's one of the first truly delicious and complete breakfast menus that I've seen in Hamburg, and the whole experience was great.
They serve breakfast from 10 am to 2 pm on weekends, and the options run the gamut from the Vintner's Breakfast for two, with a ridiculous quantity and variety of foods, to Elvis Toast (peanut butter and banana, natch) and many more things (see photo). There's also a long drink menu that includes freshly-made juices, coffees, and obviously, wine (this is a wine bar after all).
Our waitress was super-friendly and spoke excellent English, and they have menus printed in English, too (it was one of those situations where if you start in English, you might as well just keep it going, even if you could have done it in German just as easily). Drinks and food all came pretty quickly, and everything looked great.
I had the breakfast flammkuchen, which has schmand (kind of like a thick sour cream), eggs, leeks, and bacon. My wife had the scrambled eggs, which came with a few slices of baguette, a side salad, and she said were cooked perfectly. My daughter had the apple pancake, which came with apples cooked inside the batter and on top, and a healthy dollop of sweet vanilla schmand on top. Everything was delicious, but that apple pancake was out of this world.
We sat indoors on a chilly January day, but they also had a "winter garden" that was available, and was actually quite warm (I realized after I checked it out). Looking forward to coming back and trying dinner here sometime. read more
