We were so lucky to be staying right beside the Ucluelet Aquarium, and made it a priority to visit! The staff was all very friendly and knowledgeable , and were working hard the whole time we were there. We absolutely loved all of the indigenous species, and the beautifully decorated and well-kept tanks and enclosures. We learned a lot about local sea life, and enjoyed our time immensely. Cute, simple, designed for a nice walkthrough. Well taken care of marine life, and atmosphere is welcoming & nice. Definitely worth it to support them, and take your family here if you get chance. Are you freakin kidding me - a catch and release aquarium....HOW COOL!!! This little aquarium is one of the neatest aquariums I've been too!! Firstly, they are a catch and release aquarium. They go out and locally catch some fish etc then 6 months later take them right back to where they were taken and put them back. I love that idea!! Don't know what the survival rate would be once returned but it seems better than keeping them in tanks forever. Like I said - it's small so they don't have many tanks. 1 big one in the middle, about 8 on one side, and another 8 touch tanks on the other side. Kids really liked the touch tanks. A good variety of stuff to touch - not just the usual starfish. Staff were really friendly and interactive. They listened to kids questions and explained stuff at their level. Pretty sweet!! We were really impressed by this tiny place. We would come back any time!!! read more

This place is amazing! Love that it's catch and release from the area - great way to learn about the life that's right here in our ocean. The staff are all very knowledgeable, friendly, and clearly passionate about their work. It seems like a small place but there are so many interesting things in those tanks and such great learning we easily spent almost 2 hours there. "This is the best aquarium ever!" That's a quote from two kids visiting the aquarium when we were there. And we (two middle aged adults) agree entirely. It's a small catch and release facility with friendly, knowledgable and enthusiastic staff. Go; enjoy the catch of the season (we saw a wolf eel, giant octopus and decorator crabs just to name a few of the critters) and donate a little extra to a really awesome, world class aquarium experience. read more
