The officers were there for hours waiting for the coroner and explaining to all kinds of nosey people with somewhat inappropriate questions. I have a handful of cops in my family but I don't get to hear about the slow days per se. LBPD contracts with a service called TIPS. They send counselors to calls where someone is impacted by a traumatic situation. These people along with the officers were amazing and they stayed till the last person walked out and I locked the door. He knew just how to handle the situation. Gave the violator a ticket. Explained to him that next time this happens, the vehicle will be towed. The violator moved his van so we could go to work. Tips to citizens: - If the violator suggests to you that instead of you calling the police, you should go knocking door to door to find out whose vehicle it is to ask them to move it, do NOT fall for that BS. Immediately educate the prankster. Tell them straight up that you don't have time to compensate for their laziness (not in those words, if you wanna be courteous). THEY should be responsible. They should be checking the street every 5min to see if there's an open spot, and move their car out of the way. Why should you be burdened for their incompetence? - They may lie that the street was full when they were looking for a space. Since you don't have the evidence to disprove this claim, don't try to, even if you already know there's ALWAYS parking room at the end of the road. Just keep to yourself your realization that they are liars and are trying to play mind games with you. This awareness will reduce your chances of falling for their tricks. My daughter was out after curfew, without my permission, looking for something her sister had dropped hours earlier. She saw a guy collapse and fall into the street. She moved him to a safer spot and tried to help him. He came to and ran off. The police showed up and treated her terribly insinuating that she was lying. She was shaken and they were mean to her. They brought her home with 4 police cars making a big show for my neighbors. When they spoke to me, they mislead me about the true situation. They didn't lie but they made things sound differently than they were. Today, at work, I had a theft situation. I called 911. I tried to close our gate so he could not drive off. He managed to hit 2 cars in our lot and backed into our gate. He sped off. They found him and asked me to ride with them to identify the driver. I was happy to help. While I was in the back of the cop car, waiting for them to bring him out (never did) they accused me of causing damage to his car! I was warned that filing a false police report was against the law and that my story didn't line up. There was another witness that had backed up my story. I felt attacked, getting accused in the back of a police car when I was the victim!!!! I'm a boring, middle aged mom that doesn't cause problems. I never felt afraid to go to the police.
