I knew of UCC because of anime so I wasn't expecting a real storefront in Cebu at all! Once I realized this place was a real franchise, I learned to appreciate the establishment more and the products. Coming to two locations in Cebu, you can see the Japanese influence and community in the region with other Japanese coffee and cafe shops around the area. This location is my favorite because of the big space with lots of seating, the fact that they're open late (pre-COVID-19), and the fooood! I wasn't sure if a coffee commercial brand would have delicious food but here we are! It reminds me of my old eats in NY with their casual sandwiches. Being that they are a coffee company, they serve coffee all day and night! Great for late night chit chats, study nights, night craves, and those who need a pick-me-up after a long day at work.
Service here is accommodating and nice. We came here three times during our stay and would gladly recommend and come again when in Cebu City. The ambience is super chill that you will see students chatting and working here. I've only come here late night for a quick bite and for some coffee. I've tried their desserts like their ube cheesecake (made like the Japanese cheesecakes with a Pinoy touch) and their salmon croissant. They make various kinds of coffee styles from Japanese pour overs to Spanish lattes to Vietnamese coffee. I have enjoyed their Hong Kong style coffee and Filipino local coffee. If you take your espresso drinks seriously, this is a fun place to go (although commercial and not in the category of Cebuano specialty coffee scene). They serve salads to rice dishes to baked goods. It's a fun place to try some innovative Japanese inspired Filipino-infused dishes.
