I don't Spray tan often, but when I do, I go to U Ca Tan at Bella Terra. I am the type of person that will pay more for great service and here the service is solid and at a reasonable price point. The Manager, Danielle is excellent and you feel like she really cares about how your tan comes out. I come here to tan before events and the HD spray tan is awesome and dries you off, so you don't have to worry about streaking. I normally don't write reviews, but recently the severe decline in today's customer service has me fuming and this establishment tops them all! I am hopeful you take the time to read this review and head my warning, so that you don't have to experience what I did. KEY FACT: At UCATAN in HB, customers have the option of EFT payments for their tanning. DO NOT USE THIS SERVICE!! PAY CASH. MY STORY: I have been an EFT customer of this establishment for over 2 years. It has the most updated beds, its clean...and the staff is friendly and knowledgeable about TANNING (only apparently). I have had no issues until just recently, BUT it was bad enough that I have canceled my membership and will NEVER tan at this establishment again. I AM FURIOUS! On September 2, 2010, I decided I wanted tan prior to my workout class. When I arrived the friendly front desk girl asked me for my last name. She pulled up my account and then promptly informed me I had a balance due. I said very nicely, that is impossible...I am an EFT client and you bill my acct monthly on the 5th. She then (with a smile of course) informs me..."...that's not true we only bill on the 1st...it says so on our contract" ...."We tried to bill you and it was rejected" I replied..." that may be the standard billing...but when I signed up (over 2 years ago) I was told that you COULD bill my account on the 5th. I requested this and told yes. If NOT...I would choose not to be an EFT client. So there is an internal billing error....just re-bill it on the 5th and it will be fine. I have never had any issues prior to this... She replied " ...I am sorry we cannot re-bill, you need to pay this balance or I can't let you tan." WTH? I said I would like to speak with your owner/manager right now and get this straightened out please. She replied (again with that corny smile...) " ...I am sorry, there is no one available......" I again went on to explain WHY i am billed on the 5th and not the standard 1st as written in the contract (which by the way on mine has it crossed out at 5th written on it) ...She then shrugged her shoulders (like a little kid!) and said, " ....I am so sorry, I don't know what to do for you .....may I suggest you just don't tan between the 1st and the 5th to make sure all is well with the EFT?" WHAT!? Did you REALLY just suggest that a CLIENT/CUSTOMER pay to be inconvenienced? I was so angry now, I said. I understand...just cancel my membership. She then replied (smiling the whole time) "...I am sorry, we can't do that until your balance is paid" GRRRRRRRRRRRR Now it's October. I notice that on my bank statement for this month...UCATAN HB has debited my acct for my tanning membership! ON 10/4!!! So...I went over there yesterday to speak with them again and to cancel my membership. AGAIN I was told...(by the same girl!) ..."you have a balance on your acct.." NO i said...you billed me on 10/4 (not 10/1) ...I would like to cancel. She said again..."you didn't pay September, so you can't tan and we can't cancel you..." I AM LIKE WHAT? YOU didn't bill me in September! And obviously you figured it out...cuz you billed me in October! Let me speak to the manager or the owner....her reply "....I am sorry no one is available" I once again left this establishment without tanning, frustrated and no solution! RESULT: I have now canceled THEM!! They no longer have access to my account for future billing and I will never tan there again. I think it is really sad. Tanning is a LUXURY that most CHOOSE whether or not to afford and it almost seems as if there is a tanning salon on every corner. In today's economy, with people losing their jobs and tightening up their budgets....With so many salons to choose from and new client specials everywhere you look.... you would think that an establishment of this nature would pay careful attention to their clientele. I wouldn't want anything from you at this point. I can afford to go elsewhere. I involved the "owner" when it happened. I don't know what tanning Mafia is after you that would make up fraudulent reviews on yelp. There are lot of choices in town with prices that vary but if your looking for results, this is where you want to be. The staff was extremely helpful in explaining the different types of beds they have all producing different results. Danielle and Autumn were great, they walked me through each membership level. I finally chose their unlimited Diamond club which includes unlimited tanning including the high bed which gets you instant deep color. It also includes infrared sauna which I highly recommend. Such incredible detoxification you'll feel great! Autumn makes sure she keeps me informed of all the latest products and like the rest of the staff they're always very welcoming! read more

I came in here with high hopes of finding a new tanning Solon near my home as I no longer work by my old tanning Solon in Lake Forest. I asked for a regular mystic tan since it was my first time there I wanted to see if I liked it and didn't want to spend too much in case I didn't. The sales girl keep insisting that I try the HD tan witch was $40 a session- I used to pay $45 for 3 sessions in LF with the same type of machine and scent in the tan bottle minus the heat. I thought fine it's for my birthday why not splurge a little if it's worth it ( per Kailey). Everything Kailey told me about the HD tan was exactly the same as the $25 tan so of course I was skeptical about the whole thing and kinda felt pressured by her to buy the more expensive one. After she gives me the info and tells me to chose a color, bronzer, and scent my total comes to $46! I told Kailey that the only thing I didn't want was to look orange and fake and she assured me I would not. Experience was great the machine was the same type I was used to and it being heated was definitely a plus. I get out and I look into the mirror and not only do I look orange but I looked RED ORANGE! I looked like I got sunburned and then but orange tanner all over my body! I went outside and Kailey was no where to be found so I left to find my Husband because I thought maybe it's their dark rooms and Morris idk. Anyway I called the next day (my birthday) to ask for help and of course she answers the phone! She tells me there is nothing I could do to tone it down or take it off and they didn't have anything at the salon to help me. So I just spent $46 on a spray tan that looks horrible and the business can do nothing to help me and to top it off it was my birthday! Kailey tells me to take a shower and use a loofa or to put self tanner on top of it.... Omg are you kidding me! The employees should be properly trained and be informed of the products they are selling because customers expect the outcome that is promised and it is not cheap! read more

Danielle is what makes this place. She always has a smile on her face every time I walk in. Very knowledgeable staff and clean rooms. Bulbs are changed frequently and lots of lotions to choose from. I usually use the Elite bed and see results instantly. Overall, this place is great. Won't be going to any other tanning salon anytime soon. read more

The place is great, clean and no complaints about services they offer. However their UNLIMITED offer is not unlimited at all. I was taking sauna twice a day due to my sinus problems and I needed to stop as Daniele said it was dangerous ( please read the info on their website that says- "you can. It overdose, it is safe!" Or "unlimited frequency") One of the owners said this would exceed the quota for the "unlimited sauna". The website doesn't mention how many times a day you can go- it says unlimited! I was first time customer and first session - as their website says- should be $10.00. I was charged $40.00, and when I mentioned this to one of the co-owners - he didn't seem to bother to make it right. My appointments got messed up by the manager and I was double booked with another person. All of these on couple days period! No one tried to make it up, or do it right! Anyways- I ended up purchasing as many session as I wanted! Also, no one tried making it right. I have to say however Tamara is extremely efficient, nice, professional and very kind. Remembers your name, knows what you need. She is tops! Any business would love to have her! Actually, she is the only reason I didn't go and buy membership in a different place. Thanks Tamara! Once a year I get a Mystic Tan before a certain event to even out my farmer tan. I believe it's Danielle who takes care of me. Well, she went above and beyond today and I really appreciated it. There was an issue with my prepayment because they'd changed software, but Danielle took care of it with a smile. She also told me about a new package special but didn't give me the hard-sell. Surprisingly a dump inside. I went to u ca tan for a spray tan and when I walked into the room it was dirty, beat up and half the stuff didn't work. The speaker on the booth is broken, the paper towel dispenser was broken and the floor was sticky and nasty. If you have ever had a spray tan you know that having a fan in the room or booth after you tan is exceptionally important because you need to dry off all the wet spray tan so it doesn't leave you blotchy and ruin your clothes. These idiots had no fan and no paper towels in the room for you. So now it is 2 days later and I am blotchy as suspected with a very orange glow from the cheap, low budget spray formula. Crappy tanning place in a fancy mall. Go somewhere that knows what they are doing, these idiots use crap formula, no fan, no paper towels and a beat up booth that makes it sound like you are on the subway in New York. I've had a few disappointing tanning experiences in my lifetime, and I wasn't expecting much when I came in here looking to tan, which really helps my acne and eczema. I was pleasantly surprised when the front desk employee (with short blonde hair) was very friendly and not too pushy with the packages. The package/monthly deals ended up being totally reasonable (at least compared to the NYC tanning salons I'm used to) and I was so impressed when I got a nice base tan after just one visit. My boyfriend tanned here for the first time and even got some nice color from the lowest priced bed. A clean, decently priced tanning salon with updated, well-maintained beds and nice employees? I've been going here for a couple months and really enjoy my experience. All the girls are friendly! I am yelping today though because I didn't have the best experience this time. Taylor was the girl working, by herself tonight. She asks my first and last name, there was no one in the salon so I got a bed right away. I noticed that even though the sign said my bed was sanitized, it was not! You could see the dried sweat all over! Besides that being disgusting, she didn't even apologize to me. She started off by calling me by the wrong name and said I went in the wrong room. Sorry but that's just poor customer service. She could have at least said sorry. Have been going there for the summer months for past years. Always appreciated staff especially Nicole. She helped me choose beds to darken me up. Now I have a beautiful bronze glow to me. I've gotten to trust her instincts as far as what beds and lotions would be best for me. The staff is great but I'll only buy from Nicole. She takes the time To explain it to me. U-C-TAN rocks! Since going this year I was only going to buy a few sessions now it's 4 months later and I'm still going! They are always having great deals on lotions in which I bought 3 that were normally priced $125. Great deals on monthly memberships. Don't forget to sign up for the texts. Excellent surprises they send you. I got one for a free tan! Sundays are discounted so you can tan to close to nothing. Believe it's 10-20. Where else can you find that? I used to go to this location when they first opened and they were extremely nice, but then they hired some young girls and they are not very friendly at all, they act as if they are better that u and stuck up, they last time I walked in to pay my balance they young lady was on the phone and she acted like I was bothering her and rushed me thru my payment to get back to her phone call, and yes when I left I went around the corner and looked thru the window and say her back on the phone, ha, ha. I cant say names because they dont wear name tags.I'm very disappointed in the customer service. I needed a credit on my account and it took over a month to get the manager to credit my account, being that I guess she worked out of 2 locations, but still it should have been handled in a timely manner. After being on the contract for 6 or so months I got pregnant and was unable to use the beds and didn't like the mystic tan. I called the location and asked if I could put my membership on hold until I gave birth and they said no! Being that I was pregnant and had sickness I didn't go for a couple of months and still had to pay for the months that I didn't use it, I don't feel this was right ,I even had a doctors note from my doctor stating I was pregnant and ill. But nope, I have not gone back since and I love to tan. read more

I went in to try something different. I've been going to HB tanning on Adams ave, and I notice that I'm still the same color but want to be darker. I went in for the first time special. Okay, so I noticed that their prices are way over board, and for what?! I left with no color payoff or anything. Plus, I've never seen a tanning salon charge tax on the tan. I have been tanning off and on for 15 years, tanning at many different salons. This tanning salon is by far the best I have ever been to! I have been tanning at this location now off and on for over a year and have always had a great experience. They are prompt with changing out the bulbs on a regular basis and the place is always clean. I only have 1 suggestion about this place.... little waste baskets in each room. They have great customer service especially Danielle. She is very friendly and knowledgeable. I have moved since I started tanning here but I will continue to only go to this place no matter where I live because it is SOLID! And their beds are top notch with a wide range or levels. Signing up was quick and the girl at the front desk was nice. Their packages are confusing. I signed up, and she informed me I'd be charged a $25 sign up fee, plus the cost of my tanning lotion. The lotion was $24, but I received 40% off since I'm new. The total would have been $49 plus tax. We'll come back to this later. A few hours later, I returned to tan for the first time. Two girls were there, different from the one earlier. These two seemed disinterested and snooty. One girl informed me that since it's peak hours, the bed I signed up for will be a 25 minute wait. I didn't understand this considering there are six standard beds (which may have all been occupied at the time), yet there was only one customer waiting. I didn't argue, and took one of my free upgrades included in my package. She didn't ask which bed I wanted, and instead chose one for me. She did let me know how to turn it on and turn the face lamps down, but if a new customer came into my place to tan for the first time I'd show her/him the ropes. Even if just for a second! I walk into the room and didn't like the fact that there were no mirrors, nor trash cans. The bed, being one of the more pricey ones, was TORE UP. There were cracks in the bed and it just looked aged. Not a big deal, but appearance is everything. I'm 99% sure the bed wasn't clean and neither were the towel and eye wear, as they were thrown on the chair along with the "This bed has been cleaned" sign. Don't ask me why I didn't say anything, I'm just not the type to complain. So, I finish tanning, annoyed that I can't check myself in the mirror. I come home and check my bank account which had been charged $56, not the $49 I was expecting. Again, not a big deal, but just decided to call to double check and make sure I didn't get the wrong package. Whoever answered the phone was rushed and instantly asked me to hold. I was on hold for 5 minutes before she got back to me. I began to explain my situation and she cut me off, asked me for my last name and pulled up my account. She was extremely rude! She spoke down to me and was also talking to other people while on the phone with me! She explained that I was charged $20(not $25) for the sign up fee, $11 for the rest of this month's tanning, plus the $14 for my lotion. That total would come to $45. Her explanation for the extra $11 was tax. Tanning salon customers are charged a 10% tax on services, which would account for about $5, not $11. Once again, in a nutshell, not a big deal! I just don't understand why the prices were changed, why that wasn't communicated to me, and why she had to be rude the entire time. With this being my first day's experience, I'd say it wasn't even close to what I'd hoped. But you get what you pay for! read more

Ok, I took my friend here to get our first spray tan ever for her birthday and the front desk girl that helped us wasn't helpful at all. Since it was our first time getting a spray tan so we didn't know what to do before and after our spray tan or how to stand and when we were supposed to turn for the machine to get us evenly. She didn't really instruct us how the machine going to spray us or anything like that. She also didn't tell us to put cream on our hands, nails, feet and our toes nails before we got into the booth. And when I asked for eyewear then she said oh you don't need that just close your eyes and you will be fine. Seriously when customers ask you for that because they don't feel safe or comfortable , you should provide them what they need! Overall I would never come back here again! It was such a horrible experience for both of us. Our tan came out uneven and weird looking as hell. It was such a waste of money! read more
