I paid $12 for one packet of Bingo games, and had fun playing with some friends for about three hours total. Next month I want to come again! Remember to bring cash to purchase bingo games, extra games, and to purchase drinkies and snacks from the snack bar. There were nachos, hot dogs, and chips available yesterday. Beer, wine, and soda were available drinkies. They also had free water and coffee provided. If you don't have your own dobber for Bingo they provide free rentals, but you can also buy one for $1 in cash. They also have raffles included with your Bingo packet, so hang on to that ticket. I won a bottle of Sobon Cab Sauv in one of the raffle drawings yesterday! :-) They have bathrooms downstairs and upstairs too, and though it does get busy we were easily able to find five seats together. Of course, two of us did show up early. For next time I will remember to again arrive early and bring cash for this cash only event. If you have never played legit Bingo before, they are patient and helpful. It is beginner friendly with many helpers available and walking around the room. Highly recommend! Yay Bingo! Outside food is fine. Street parking.

Ultimately, I think this is an awesome resource in our community! I love that various groups and communities are able to rent out the space for whatever the need. I also love all of the community events that they put on. From Bingo to movie nights, I love the effort they are putting into creating an awesome community space. The building itself is a bit out dated, but it is well maintained.

Inside it is an Art Gallery, and also a multipurpose activity/community space. Through the front door, which is located at the corner of 1st and E streets past some large art sculptures, is a book store of published art books, and to the left corner is a info/cashier counter and person. Past that opens up to a large multistory atrium area, filled with art, but also a couple of tables with 4-5 chairs each. In the hot Davis summers, this is a cool place to hang out, literally, as there is OPAC available for you (Other People's AC), and WiFi! Currently the artist featured on this floor is Mark Bullwinkle, an American artist with SF Bay Area roots and metal quirky sculpture installations, particularly in Emeryville and Berkeley, that he created with a blowtorch. Up the stairs or elevator to floor 2, there is a study/lounge that over looks the atrium below, with other artists' work in the nooks and crannies around the staircase and little rooms. The 3rd floor is a full art floor, with mostly ceramic sculptures from various artists. It is free to enter. I did an event here a year ago, a UC Davis student's birthday party with entertainment in the atrium space. And more recently I came here with 2 friends to chill in the OPAC and tables/chairs in the 1st floor Atrium before heading on to dinner on a lazy Sunday afternoon road trip.

Outside this location you'll notice two large structures: a cat and a dog. When you enter the gallery you'll see a front desk to your left, one of the staff members greeted us. There are pieces all over the gallery from artwork to sculptures. On the second floor there are multiple metal tables and chairs where you can have a seat and work. There was also a bathroom on the second floor. There was classical music playing throughout the building. It was a nice departure from working in my hotel room and I enjoyed seeing some of the artwork and sculptures on display.

I ran across Davis Co-Working and checked it out. I liked what I saw, and I have been a delighted member ever since. What do I like about it, gentle reader? Well, pull up a chair, and I'll tell you. For starters, the sign-up process couldn't be more straightforward; you just go to their website, create an account, select a package, enter your payment info, and voila, within a few hours, you get a welcome message and instructions on accessing the site. The Owner, Do, is always happy to answer questions and has been very quick to respond to any questions or concerns. As for the site, I work at the International House site, and I really like the layout. It's in the lower section of the house, but there is still plenty of natural light from the windows. The space is clean and comfortable, with lots of seating and tables. They have a large conference room that can be used ad hoc or scheduled. Amenities include coffee and tea, a refrigerator for your lunch, fast Wi-Fi, and even a printer. The facility has several clean and well-stocked restrooms and is just a few blocks from plenty of restaurants and markets. I have met many friendly people here at Davis Co-Working who are students, project managers, software developers, and more. They have all been very polite and professional, and we share the space nicely. If you are looking for a place to work 24/7 for a reasonable price, with excellent service, then I would run, not walk, to their website and join today. Your only regret will be not having signed up sooner.
