My child was physically attacked on the basketball court by an opposing player during a recent…read moresummer league game. The officials not only were negligent in their duties leading up to the attack but after as well. They didnt take any action to hold the attacker accountable for their actions by issuing a technical foul and/or ejection. In fact the officials taunted our teams mothers and mocked us as "white folk that be complaining" if this player repeated his behavior in a school or restaurant theyd have been in handcuffs. The counter staff did a great job of documenting the issue and addressing our anger in a professional and compassionate manner. He witnessed the officials mocking several moms and making aggressive hand gestures as the refs left the venue. We were told to not involve the police at the event because the management was fair and would address our issues as best they could. I was given an email address jaden@osahoops.com. I waited 36ish hours to reach out on June 23 at 7:40am We provided OSA with a video of the attack and the ref not behaving as they were trained. I asked for a response. We received none. On June 25 at 4:35pm I followed up. Again no response. Understanding that there might be a bit of time needed to speak and go up the chain of command Its now August 11th and weve yet to get any sort of response. Which is unfortunate. With the price to play on a team and in their tournaments youd figure that they'd at least pretend to care about their cattle or at very least do their best so the player would experience some sort of accountability for their violent actions. So it doesnt happen again. But absolutely nothing! Maybe the next time this player becomes violent on the court there will be a serious injury that they can deal with that fallout in a more professional and productive manner. Whats fun is that they took more time in removing my facebook review than they did dealing with my childs violent attack. Im sure ill get roped back into a facility to support my kids but my expectations for the officials, staff, and management will be considerably lower than they were.

Once again, I would say that OSA personnel/and their parents are poor role models for kids. I've…read morebeen an educator for many years and I am constantly surprised by the things I see coaches/parents do in supposedly teaching kids to be positive community members within this organization. I was at UBT watching a 3 on 3 basketball tournament. Two of the 3 games I watched involved OSA teams. When you try talking to the adults involved with the kids behaviors, you are bullied and brushed off. If you want your kid to become a bully who cheats their way to win, this is the organization for you. I'll be reading about those kids in the paper someday but not in the sports section. And it isn't the kids fault. Wake up OSA leaders, coaches, and parents.

We signed our son up for the PVB basketball program this summer, excited about the opportunity and…read morelooking forward to the season. We were informed that practices would begin in October, as PVB emphasized a strong focus on player development. However, as the end of September came and went, we received no updates or communication. I made multiple attempts to contact the organization by phone and initially reached only voicemail. In early October, I finally spoke with Justin, who apologized and explained that a parent Zoom meeting would be held on October 6 to go over schedules. The date came and went with no meeting or follow-up. Over the following weeks, I continued reaching out--sometimes multiple times a week--before finally connecting with Justin again. He apologized once more, explaining that they were struggling to find gyms and players, and that practices were now expected to begin November 1. Unfortunately, November arrived with still no schedule, communication, or confirmed team. At that point, I explained that our other son's team had already been practicing for over a month, and that if PVB could not provide a schedule or reliable information, we would need to move our son to another program that could. Justin expressed understanding and stated he would have their accounting representative, Jessica, contact me to begin a refund process. When I spoke with Jessica, she informed me that PVB's season had "always been set to start in November" and that a non-refundable policy applied--despite written confirmation from their own staff that they did not have enough players to form a team. She offered only a 25% refund "due to our concerns." At this point, PVB has failed to honor their own program timeline, provide transparent communication, or deliver the services they advertised. Their repeated delays and inconsistent statements have forced us to seek another team for our son. This experience has been extremely disappointing and unprofessional. I would strongly urge PVB to take accountability for their lack of organization and communication by issuing a full refund. Based on our experience, I cannot recommend this organization to other families.

The focus on the development of players is amazing! Coach Justin Carter connects with the players on another level. Coach Carter really does an amazing job growing the players and teaching them the fundamentals of basketball, building character on and off the court.

Common Ground is a family friendly gym that meets a diverse range of needs. I used to attend this…read moregym back in my high school days, but returning as an adult I can see just the hub of community that it has become. The variety of having a pool, a basketball court, a running track, lifting areas, cycling rooms, workout classes for members and guests, and more makes it optimal for all types of active people. The front desk staff is attentive and kind, very helpful if you need anything. The staff working the weights floor is mostly young teens, but they regularly clean and are available when needed. I have taken a few workout classes and absolutely loved it! There is a great amount of high quality equipment that is provided, and the space itself is very clean. Floor to ceiling mirrors allowed me to see my form, and to face the opposite way and still see the instructor. The instructor herself was friendly and uplifting, and kept the workout class moving while still ensuring we all understood each movement and what we were working. The staff came in and cleaned our mats afterwards, which is reassuring! The locker rooms are very clean and spacious in my opinion. There is always free space, and also three mirrors with vanity space if you need to get ready after your workout. There are also three showers, and an ADA friendly option as well. I highly recommend Common Ground if you are in need of a family friendly gym with plenty of variety and clean, updated, facilities!
