Sure, it`s a little run down, Nah, it`s not made for roid…read moremonkeys, and Ya, you bet! it`s a small community gym, but for us locals, us regulars, it's a gem. With its caring down-to-earth staff, split gym, pool and hot tub, steam and sauna, fitness classes, racquetball court and preschool, Ron Andrews (RA) keeps the community vibe fresh and flowin`strong. Maintaining a steady mixed demographic of preschoolers, moms, teens, fitness buff regulars and aquasizing steam-lovin` seniors, RA is a hub for the North Van community and it keeps us connected. And yes, it represents us better than the North Vancouver Boyz on Youtube ;) It oozes community factor and awesomeness... all because of the staff. They listen. After renos of the gym were completed a couple years back, the staff posted a bulletin: How do you like the new changes? Suggestions for improvement? [Suggestion box]. Though I liked the new layout very much, I submitted 4 suggestions after a few test-run workouts: more mats, add a full length mirror to the mat area, switch the location of a treadmill with another fitness machine because it's a little dangerous, and perhaps have a themed dance music night for a couple hours. And Voila! Within a week, my first 3 suggestions were implemented, and a basic questionnaire to have a dance music night went up. Community feedback is always encouraged here. They motivate. One of my friends began eating healthy and working out regularly to shed off a few extra pounds. She had been succeeding and gaining great results with her fitness plan. Noticing her change, the Weight Room Supervisor acknowledged that she was lookin great, ended up reviewing her food plan and providing healthy eating tips, and offered a couple personal training sessions if she could reach her next goal, which she did. How's that for motivation? ;) They care. Proactive, helpful, kind and continuously working to make it the best community centre it can be, the staff make RA the epitome of a well-run community centre. Core to their credo is community-mindedness. So by the looks of it, it's just your everyday reccentre with an average weight room and pool, but when you get to know it, you realize its the heart of our community... in the District of North Vancouver :)

I love Ron Andrews! It is nicely laid out and the staff are great. It has been my favorite…read more pool in North Vancouver since I moved here in 1989. Linda B

Kidlet was sad the hotel we were staying at did not have a pool and saw this pool online and booked tickets. Had read reviews that there is not seating and figured a towel would be ok. Took some towels from the hotel and planned to settle in while kidlet swam. There is no where to put your towel except on pebbled concrete (they have painted squares on the ground I assume so people have space) or the grass. There are some concrete/rocked walls that you can sit on. Pool is very large/long. The lap swimming area is roped off from the shallow "recreational" swim. The recreational swim area is very shallow (2 feet deep). Kidlet was disappointed as they wanted to go in the deep area but there is no space for the deep area as it is all for lap swimmers. They have slides that slide into the deep area but you cannot use them as they are in the area where people are swimming laps. The pool is "heated" to 72 degrees. We were there for the morning session 9-11:30 and it was windy so we lasted less than an hour. Changing areas are very basic. Large open area with lockers (.25 refundable) with 2 changing stalls and some restrooms stalls off to the side of the changing area. There were open cubbies on the pool deck to store items as well. Fee was $7.94 for 1 adult and child/youth admission plus .95 ticket fee, and .45 GST total $9.34 CAD or $6.82 USD. Overall very inexpensive for some beautiful views. If you want to go I recommend renting or borrowing chairs unless you have a body of steel that enjoys laying/sitting on hardened pebbles.

It's $7.50~ and you can get combo tickets for similar prices for an adult and child or adult and senior! Parking on Vine or Balsam will be better than paying for parking in the Kitsilano lot but give yourself advanced time to find it if you're hoping for free parking. Beautiful view overlooking Kitsilano Beach, the water and North Shore Mountains. Spacing was great. There are a lot of people doing lane swimming practice so be careful and aware of the marked areas or expect to be spoken to over the megaphone of the life guard. Bring a blanket and snacks to dry off around the side. Depth is up to 8 feet in some areas. We have gone three times in the past month and the process has been super easy purchasing tickets online and lining up near the Kitsilano Boatshow theatre to get in. I recommend prebooking tickets instead of link by up for drop in in the off chance you cannot get in!
