Our GC Triple A contractors of South Plainfield hired them to do our siding after an addition. What a mistake hiring the GC that hired Unity!!! They do not have experienced crews rather people off the street that do not know what they are doing or speak English. The brand new siding has the following wrong: Exposed sheathing Improper starter strip Bulging and popping at the seams Warping and rippling from too tight and improper nailing Missing j channels Improper seam alignment Different color soffit color Wavy trim Bent aluminum trim Open seams above windows Missing siding above portico Exposed sheathing The owner Wilmer is a con man. Even after submitting a claim to the siding manufacturing and after their investigation showed it was NOT a product defect but a result of defective improper workmanship he refused to own up to his mistakes and pay for them to be executed professionally Furthermore, he didn't even have proper commercial insurance for defective workmanship to cover such mistakes. The workers left nails all over the property and never cleaned up. His workers and him did another siding job in South Plainfield where they put up Siding without installing insulation first they left it on the front lawn. They had to take the entire siding down install insulation then reside and they still did a horrible job. Wilmur's also posting that he has an A from the BBB when he is not accredited committing false advertisement. We very pleasantly discussed what I wanted done and he gave me a very reasonable price. I felt confident in his expertise and integrity. As I said, each time he and his workers came they showed up on time and worked diligently on the task at hand. The job was done in a reasonable amount of time. I am impressed with their work and would gladly use him for future jobs. I hired NJH to repair damage to a restored antique mahogany staircase in my house…read more The newel post at the end of a section of the banister had separated from the handrail and was loosed at the base. That made this section of the banister wobbly, unsafe and prone to further damage. Prior and now failed repairs with mastic and nails were an eyesore and calling for further restoration work. Ben with Kellam's supervision closely conferred with me how to do the best structural and cosmetic restoration of the banister. They dismantled the newel post from the handrail and the mounting of the post to the staircase frame, and removed old nails and mastic from the post rails joint all without damage. To remove the post, they had to remove stapled carpeting and a stair tread that they replaced without damage at the end of the job. They very securely remounted the newel post with corner backets under the stair tread and long bolts into its base covered with matching round plugs. Having so securely remounted the post and restoring the post to rail mortise and tendon, the handrail was solidly secured without the further use of mastic, nails or screws. With a few touchups to old wood putty, they then managed to remove obvious evidence of prior repairs. As this section of handrail may need a restoration replacement to match the quality of the other staircase handrails, their method of reconnection rail to the post will allow for less problematic handrail replacement without damage.

The owner, Kamal was very charming and attentive in the beginning but as the brick and concrete…read morework on our front yard and stairs progressed, he stopped returning calls, workers started showing up sporadically or not at all until we had to follow up with Kamal who would make excuses about his mother being in the hospital as to why work was not getting done or workers were not available. I don't see how one has to do with the other as he was not on the job site at all times. Lots of short cuts were attempted - my father and husband literally had to be on watch throughout the process to make sure they were providing structurally sound work. We were smart enough to draw up a detailed contract as to what work was to be done, and at times even that was refuted. He even attempted to start the work before he signed the agreement, glad we did not or we would be even more dissatisfied than we already are. I see that he received reviews on Home Advisor during periods of time he said he was unable to work on our projects, adding weeks to the completion, so easy to see our job was not a priority. During our process, before he started slacking, a neighbor inquired about their service and we said so far, we were pleased. Fast forward to a few weeks when we're trying to get our project completed and he's trying to add additional cost to the quote, when we reminded him that we even referred him to another job, he replied that was "his luck", not our referral. Our neighbor, after finding out how his service fell flat decided not to go with him after all. I guess that's his karma. He promised to power wash the work site after everything was completed. When we were finally nearing the end and asked him about that, he said he would only do that if we hired him for $10k roof job we also had him quote. Bait and switch and smooth talker. WOULD NEVER HIRE HIM AGAIN again and would DEFINITELY NOT RECOMMEND HIM. We're still stuck with sloppy concrete work right in front of our front gate and a mantle over our front window that was half completed. Sloppy and dishonest!

We got quotes from 3 contractors in town (Metuchen), who are all very reputable and excellent…read morechoices: La Porta, ASAP, and Ideal CDR. They all came in around the same amount, but had a lot of different takes on what to do specifically and what kind of choices to make. We liked them all, so none of this is a knock on ASAP or La Porta, as friends of ours have done large projects with them and were very happy. But we felt Al was the best guy for us, so we went with Ideal. This was a pretty big project with a diversity of things to juggle: finishing the basement, building a multi-story addition, demolition, excavation, foundation/masonry, framing, siding, windows, drywall, painting, HVAC, electrical, plumbing, roofing, insulation (including spray foam insulation), stonework for porch and walkway and retaining wall, custom cabinet design for multiple rooms incl closets, hot tub crane-lifted to a custom rigging to get it onto a 2nd story balcony, new kitchen appliances and massive exhaust hood, gutters... pretty much everything except the landscaping. The before/after pics in this review don't do it justice. Through all the bajillion decisions and details and tradeoffs and nuances that came up, Al and Sunitha were really terrific to work with and help with deciding on the right course of action for us. This should work well for you if you are good and quick at making decisions. The head of the company, Al, was very easy to get ahold of during the project. We had weekly meetings, but on top of that, he'd often drop by the site (we lived in the house thru the remodel) and was very available to discuss and steer the project. Sunitha's guidance on navigating through the details and complexities of cabinet design and other operational details was fantastic. So, we definitely got very engaged with Al and Sunitha and others during this project and got to know them well. My maximum respect goes out to Al, Sunitha, Julio, Rich, Luis, Chris, Heladio, Andrew, Joe, and many others I'm forgetting to mention, as well as to all the subcontractors, who were numerous. Despite issues that inevitably arise in a project of such complexity, 99.9% of the work was completed within the 5.5 months that all the contractors (not just Ideal) estimated. If you want to get into more details, feel free to drop by for a tour at 117 Beacon Hill Dr in Metuchen. Just ask for Andrew.
