I am always a little unsure of how to rate subway stations. Especially those that are like this…read moresmall, and extremely simple. While I do not have to take the U-Bahn to get to school, since this station is closest to my flat, if I need to get almost anywhere else not in immediate walking distance, this is the station I go to. Like I said earlier, the station is very simple as is the architecture, but I like that there are those windows to let some daylight into the station. There are two entrances, on on the far side of the exhibition center, and another near the Prater amusement park garage. Right across the cross walk from Motel One. Platform is the kind where trains arrive on both sides, so not one where you can accidentally end up on the wrong side, and take a train in the wrong direction. Elevators on both sides, but from what I have seen, the elevator on the Prater side has a tendency to get stuck. One time the thing broke while I was walking down the stairs next to it. The good news, however, is that in both cases, when I returned in a few hours, there was already a technician working on it. Escalator only on the Messe side. There is a station supervisors office in the station, but in the times I have been to that side of the station, the office was closed. Station is clean! it is not shiny, and I would not eat off the ground, but relative to some other train stations I have seen around the world, this one is pretty neat.

Hi, Be careful of subterranean policy. In Vienna "Wein"Austria it is art and architecture. A very…read morebeautiful place full of history. However when you leave be careful to properly stamp your transit ticket. It is not a good deal to take the subterranean to the train station as you may have to drag your luggage up or down stairs. You are better served by Uber or a taxi for this. Not knowing any Austrian German we bought a transit ticket for 2 seniors and it seemed like a good deal, but that is decieving. The senior ticket for two which we validated turned out to be not good as we were stopped at a roadblock turnstile by subterranean police types on the way to the train station who said we had to validate our ticket twice ? The fine for this was 105 Euros, which we did not possess. The women demanded our passports and directed us to a nearby ATM to extract money. There was a hefty fee for this service of which at least 50+ Euros was added to the bill for this privilege. This very plump person informed us that ignorance of the law was no excuse. I have to wonder if they get a cut of the fine ? This has reminded me of WW2 Germany in the way we were treated. Since we could not read anything, this has to be done sort of industrial abuse of passengers to extract cash as locals know better and would not fall victim to them. We for sure will not set foot in the Vienna "Wein"subterranean again because it is all about money. Such a shame they leave you with bad vibes with this strange policy.

That was a fantastic service! So why isn't it always like that? Passengers travel every day, pay every day and are legally entitled to a safe trip, not to mentioned human rights!!!! One more day later I came to the station of Moedling, which is one of the next ones, the elevators are also very often out of service without any sign. Cleaning and OEBB people walking around doing nothing against it. Well, what shall I say, there were again some old people with a stick, a mother with a baby and me with my suitcase and a bad leg standing in front of the elevator not working, no sign, not moving at all, we grabbed our staff and walked down the staris with the help of other passengers. Down, at the foot of the elevator there was the elevator with open doors, again no sign... Next step would be that the elevator drops with people in it!!! Or peple are trapped like I was, but at least there are always some people around, well at 11pm not so many ... Hey guys, do your job, act, CEOs you are dealing with people, your customers!!!!
