I have been seeing this doctor for a little over a year and I have been attending follow up appointments as needed. I go in and he ask if everything is good, and if I want to continue my medication, it's like $150 for just the two minutes he evaluates. I recently moved and I can't come into my follow up appt, so he is rejecting my refills. I think this is just being inconsiderate of someone's circumstance. I have made great progress with my treatment and it's sad that a doctor will not understand and jeopardize that. I'm not happy with this. read more

Within 3 minutes of being seen by doctor, they tried to prescribe accutane. Barely looked at my face, barely asked symptoms or what happened, barely listened to anything I said. Seemed annoyed when I asked why he was so quick to prescribe me accutane despite having literally no acne besides this single occurrence in 4 years. I literally have not had a spot of acne on my face in 4 years. I got a bump on my chin (from shaving) that I scratched, then it spread up my entire face. (Very clearly a bacterial infection causing the acne.) I told him I did not want to go on accutane again so he prescribed my antibiotics and antibacterial cream like I requested. For some reason he prescribed me 70 days worth of it. Been taking it for 3 days and my entire face has cleared up almost overnight. Accutane would have been a 6 month ordeal with dreadful side effects and much more expensive. Not to mention I've already done 6 months of it. Also to note, for the antibiotic pills, he dosed me at 100mg everyday despite being a 200 pound man so I should be at a much higher amount per day. Besides the lack of regard or effort in his diagnosis, the building was nice, reception and everything else. Completely fine experience in every way except for the most important part. It was genuinely bizarre how little it seemed like he cared. Would cut me off while I was describing what I figured it to be. read more

First let me say the building was a little bit hard to find but once I found it I was very pleased. I was back in my vehicle within 30 minutes of my scheduled appointment time. I only spent about five minutes in the waiting room. Dr. Alexander came in to my assigned room about five minutes after that. Did a total body check and was done in no time. Dr. Alexander was awesome. He spent the time to talk to me and to listen to my concerns. He went over everything that I need to do moving forward. All the staff was very friendly and upbeat and actually seemed happy to be at work. I would definitely recommend them for your dermatological needs and will gladly come back for my next check up in about a year. read more

Dr. Jack is a good dermatologist, however, his office staff misquoted the fees for a service. I discovered the error AFTER the procedure when they sent a subsequent unexpected invoice of $558 (patient portion after insurance). Had I known the true fee for service, I would have declined. They apologized for "not being more clear" but still forced payment instead of owning the responsibility for providing misinformation. Yet another example of bad business and lack of transparency in medical billing. read more

I went this morning to discus two different types of suspicious sun damage related spots. The doctor didn't even look at them, and diagnosed me with hives after scratching me on the inside of my arm. Didn't even look at my scaly brown spots or the white scar left by the recent sun damage. Treatment? Drink green tea. I am more than angry that I spent $35 on a copay. Update: those spots were skin cancer. Thank goodness I went elsewhere for diagnosis. This place had only diagnosed hives and told me to drink green tea to resolve it. Lol. read more

It's easy to get in for an appointment in a relatively short period of time (a week or so), and I do not recall ever waiting over 10 minutes to be seen by Dr. Pena. In fact, when I asked to go onto a waiting list for an earlier appointment, I got in earlier than my scheduled appointment. Helpful reminders are sent via text. Although the staff was very friendly. I am extremely disappointed with my visit. I saw Dr. Pena,I felt like many of my questions went unanswered. I got cut off about 3 times. I felt like she wasn't listening to me. I have mild acne scars and she pretty much said that it will disappear with time. ?? Okay... For my back and face acne I was told to pick up a acne wash from heb lol... Although I did learn something new about one of my concerns. I felt like everything she told me I could of just googled. I feel like I paid 125 for two tiny samples and a piece of paper. I might come back for a prescription, if I end up liking the samples I received. Oh and I was very very interested in lip fillers.. I recently had my first appointment with Dr. Pena. Although I was glad I was able to get in and out in under twenty minutes, I have to say I wasn't impressed. Her assistant, Betsey, was extremely short with me, often interrupting me while I was explaining my symptoms. Dr. Pena glanced at skin and ended up just writing me some prescriptions, which will hopefully work. Puzzling enough, she also gave me a coupon for a suggested product that expired last year. Instead of just a quick solution for my symptoms, I wanted to treat the real problem, for instance, by being tested for allergies to see if that's what's causing my sudden outbreak. It doesn't seem like this a thing here. Perhaps the biggest problem is that I went in with a concern of an ingrown hair I've had on my bikini line for some time after a wax. I told her it was hurting and had been around a while, but she still didn't look at it. Upon second opinion, what I thought was simply an ingrown hair had actually progressed to a sebaceous cyst, requiring antibiotics. I honestly feel like my concerns were not respected and my skin was not her top priority. Even though Dr. Pena herself was nice and the office was clean and fast, I will not be back. I didn't get anything done that I couldn't have gotten from my primary physician. read more

I love Dr Pena and her staff. They are all very professional and kind, it is never a long wait and I'm in and out in no time at all. They deal with our insurance immediately and it is always taken care even though we are out of network. Dr Pena takes her time, explains things fully, always asks if you have any concerns or questions and prescribes only what is absolutely necessary for the issues I deal with. Most important to me, she is the only dermatologist I've ever been to that managed to get my rosacea under control! I have been here numerous times and have always had a most positive experience. The two star rating is only for the receptionist. It was my first time here, it was very clean and the receptionist was very friendly. Soon enough a gentleman walked in and they started talking about politics across the room which involved everyone in the waiting room. I thought it was very unprofessional and almost walked out because it was very frustrating to listen to. They called my name before I had decided to leave and I let the staff know in the back. However, the doctor was amazing, thorough, direct and quick in the procedures I needed and I would recommend her to anyone. The dermatologists are awesome, however I've been playing phone tag with the medical assistants and receptionists to get my pregnancy test approved so that I can finish up my Claravis (accutane) prescription. I've been out of my prescription for 2 weeks and they have been no help. They use multiple phone numbers to contact me which makes it a lot harder to be reached. They claimed to have left multiple voicemails yet I've only received one voicemail. Most of the time when I try and reach them I get sent to voicemail. All this trouble to clear up my acne. Do not recommend this place if you're thinking of starting accutane. read more

Gave them a visit and Courtney gave me plenty of her time and attention as I told her everything I needed to in order for me to feel like I would get an accurate diagnosis. After my first visit to Evans Dermatology at Kyle Parkway, I am happy to report that it was a very positive experience. The office itself was a beautiful, modern space. I did not have to wait long to see Dr Pena, who was friendly, professional, and more thorough than any dermatologist I've seen before - and that's saying something because I'm very fair and no stranger to the dermatologist! I've had several precancerous moles removed in the past, so I felt confident that the skin check she performed was reliable. I love this office. I was previously using a dermatologist who has great reviews but continued to not make changes with my skin care to get my issues resolved. Dr. Pena-Robichaux has dealt with acne herself and comes from a caring place when she talks with you. The staff is great! I called in today to get an rx transferred somewhere and it took 2 seconds - while on the phone with them. The office is clean and tidy. The wait is never long. I did wait a little bit for this last appointment but an assistant came in and apologized for the wait, said the Dr. would be with me soon and asked if I needed anything. That is top notch service. Great staff and service. Went in for a red spot on my nose that wouldn't go away. After a very short wait, I was seen. A short, but thorough examination of the nose and I was told it was not cancer. I had several other spots looked at, told them I'd have no problem paying to remove them as a preventive measure, and they said "no need". Previous patient of Evans Dermatology, very happy that they have opened an office in Kyle! First visit with Dr Pena was very positive. I think dermatology and dentistry are both necessary evils, not to be viewed as pleasant per se, but very beneficial. In that light, Dr. Pena definitely makes the experience as pleasant as possible. She has a gentle approach while being very thorough in the exam. The new office is very nice too! I have been to many other Dermatologist in previous years and the screenings were basically a very quick look at my face and I always left the office in fear that they did not do a proper screening. Finally a doctor that I feel does a real screening for skin cancer and ask questions and communicates with me to eliminate any concerns of possible skin issues. She and her staff are kind, professional and thorough. When I leave there from my screening, I don't feel like I wasted my time and money like other past doctors. The office is clean and there is never a wait. They submit the paperwork to my insurance correctly and quickly. Never any financial surprises like we all know about when dealing with doctor visits. And no having to take 3 hours from work like most doctors that leave you in the waiting rooms for over an hour. At the Kyle office, they are quick, but thorough and a pleasure to visit.
