We were on a very busy street, and despite having our hazard lights on, cars were passing dangerously close. Officer Butani pulled up with his emergency lights on and immediately offered assistance. He positioned his truck at an angle to protect us from oncoming traffic and ensure our safety. What truly stood out was learning that he was off duty and on his way home. He didn't have to stop, but he said he felt called to do so. I just want to give Officer Butani a huge shout-out for his kindness, professionalism, and genuine concern for others. His actions made a frightening situation feel safe, and we are incredibly grateful.

Am I a fan of the po-po? You bet I am! I had a recent "incident", let's say, that resulted in the…read moreloss of my property and damage to my home. Since then, the police dept. has been through my neighborhood many times a day. Having said all of that, there have been numerous homicies, burglaries, etc. in the area and the perps. (that's cool talk) need to be caught. Now. I do feel like there's more that could be done (fingerprints, stationing one officer in the footpath behind the homes), but then...I'm no police officer. But my family members are, and they seemed a little offput. Tough to tell. I think they're doing a good job, especially considering what they're up against. They've been kind, helpful, good-humored, responsive, fast to get here, willing to listen, but I can't give that other star until they're also...well...completely thorough and effective in making it stop (which really is the most important thing - right?). I honestly feel like it wouldn't be too hard to catch the people running amok in our particular neighborhood, but I see from the police reports that they have a lot of big fish to fry right now. I find them much better than some I've seen and I'm glad they're on my side. (Oh, and P.S. They're HUGE! Even the women! Every officer that has been out here is physically enormous! What are they feeding these officers? If I were a criminal, I'd be worried!)

So, this would have been a great work visit, if there wasn't so much confusion for myself and my…read morecolleagues. It was like they decided to not be able to communicate when you arrive. There are multiple ways to get to this facility. You can take the Green Line on the Metro. You can take the bus. Or you can drive yourself here, which is the hardest of the ways if you do not work at the facility. I chose option three. My other colleagues tried to tell me how to get in here, but it did not go as they told me. I pulled up to the guard station and immediately got the fifth degree. I told them I was here for a work event. They told me that I would have to 'go around.' When I went to 'go around' they started yelling at me. Before I did what they told me, 'go around,' I asked for clarity. Like, where am I going around. I even asked if I should follow the blue car that was pulling into a fenced area and was told no by them. When in fact, I was supposed to follow the blue car. At least I didn't have it as bad as my colleagues that were meeting me there that day. They just bypassed this building, which happens to be a security checkpoint, and ended up deep within the facility grounds...being tracked. Since this is a government facility, you can definitely be tracked here. Going through security was simpler and clearly defined. Once you go in and get a guest pass, you go through a vehicle inspection. Real quick inside/under inspection of your vehicle and then you are allowed to go onto the base. Instead of asking the incompetent guys at the entrance, I asked the guy that did my vehicle inspection where I needed to go now. It was a very good move to make. I went directly to the visitor parking and was inside. Inside, you go through another security checkpoint. Sign in at the desk and wait to be escorted to where you need to be inside this building. This building is a massive complex which from the outside looks like it is a boring place. Inside, completely different feel. It is modern, huge, easy to navigate, and welcoming. There are a lot of different agencies that take up space inside. And if you pay attention while walking about, there are several areas that have museum like displays for some knowledge. It is quite the busy place.

Not much to review but I will give it a shot. It is a nice place with a few federal agencies on it…read moreto include the Census Bureau, National Maritime, Intelligence Center, Child Development Center, General Services Administration, National Archives, Smithsonian Institute, and the National Oceanographic and Atmospheric Administration. There is plenty of parking on the grounds and it is very easy to get to via private automobile or the Suitland Metro Station that connects to the center. You will have to provide identification and have a parking pass to access the grounds. Once on the grounds there is a nice walking/running trail if you want to enjoy the sun on a nice day.

I wanted to take a moment to leave a heartfelt review for R. Tate, who works in Offer in Compromise…read morewith the IRS. Like many people, I was honestly scared going into this process. The IRS has a reputation that can feel overwhelming, and I chose to complete my Offer in Compromise on my own instead of hiring a CPA or accountant--which made it even more stressful and time-consuming. Throughout the process, I had a lot of questions and moments of uncertainty, but R. Tate was absolutely incredible. She was patient, kind, and took the time to answer every question I had without ever making me feel like a burden. Even when things got complicated and I had to go through the appeals process--which ultimately ended in my favor--she continued to support me and guide me. What truly meant the most to me was that she went out of her way, even calling me after hours (despite being two hours ahead), just to personally let me know that my application had been approved. I was in tears. That moment meant everything to me. I know the IRS can get a bad reputation, but R. Tate is one of those rare people who genuinely cares and goes above and beyond to help others. Her compassion, professionalism, and dedication made a very stressful situation feel manageable, and I will always be grateful for that. Thank you, R. Tate. I truly appreciate you more than words can express.

I file my own taxes and I am strongly opposed to taxes but for the sake of living here I have to…read morefile them and I do not want to go to jail. I recently got a notice from the IRS saying that I owe " X" amount of money. The thing is though is that I paid my taxes when I amended them in February and they took out my money from my bank account. I get a letter saying that I owe the same amount that I paid initially the only difference is that they added 34 cents on the IRS end. So all these guys really coming after me over 34 cents perhaps ? I wanted to call and correct them on this because I'm being held hostage about paying my taxes yet again before a certain deadline or I'll be paying more interest for something that they should see in their own account that they took out of mine. Unfortunately there is no one to call and navigating the phone call it's like walking on eggshells . I want to say I've tried about 50 times to call the IRS and I was unable to get a hold of a single human. Overall, I know I will get this money back one way or another. Maybe one day we will be like all other countries where we don't need to pay for having to get our taxes filed and like most modern countries do. Whatever happened to those 86,000 agents that you hired last year that you're not talking about this year? Did he all get laid off because of AI taking their jobs? Do better! Oh! And Taxation is theft
