This is my second visit and I don't recall the store being this disorganized. I was looking for Christmas fabric and found a little bit in different rooms. Not a large selection. Spoke to the owner on my way out who stated they just returned from a trade show and hadn't unpacked yet. She mentioned on Wednesday afternoons, between 4-6, they go on their Facebook page and display 150 different fabrics that you may order online. To date, I haven't had the opportunity to do so. They also offer classes at a reasonable price. The town is absolutely charming but what caught my attention was Sierra Chef. We made our way to the door and I was immediately in heaven as we entered the building. The store was filled with amazing Italian food items including pastas, sauces, and cheeses. There were chef prepared dinners for you to order to take home. Italian pastries and gelato tempted us. I gave in and ordered a pistachio gelato which was divine. My husband ordered a cookie and espresso which he said was perfectly prepared. I wish we would have had more time at Sierra Chef because we would have ordered more food items to try. The next time we are in the area, we will be making a stop to pick up some tasty treats!

The minute we walked inside the smell of baked pastries, cookies, and sweet & savory treats permeated the store. Ahhhh... Sierra Chef also offers cooking classes for adults and children in their commercial kitchen. Saw a few ladies behind the counter taking the class and having fun at the same time while I perused through the items offered... some fun handcrafted kitchen items laid out on the back table. We were just looking for dessert since we already had brunch across the street at the Flutter & Buzz Cafe. I asked for gelato and chose dark chocolate flavor. Waited while the employee went towards the back to scoop our ice creams. I had no idea how huge the servings were when she handed the cups to me. I should've just asked for one cup to share. There's a story about the origins of this building and how Ron moved it across the street many years ago. Genoa history is a living and non-linear one after all. Lis makes fun recycled jewelry pieces & also sells them on Etsy & Artfire. The store space is supplemented by homey antiques and attractive vintage clothing. It's a fun and friendly place to stop and another reason to linger in Genoa just a little bit longer.

I used Lone Tree because it had good reviews, but my experience was not great. On the positive, we…read moreworked with Janis to select matting and frame materials for a piece of original artwork, and I am pleased with those. Now to the negatives: Janis set the time for completing the work, something like 5 weeks and I was okay with that, but then when the week arrived she said she 'hoped' to have it done by the end of the week, but then did not complete it. (no it was not supply chain issues, it was her). She had it ready the following week. This business is a single proprietor and she closes the shop for extended periods for family visits, etc. So speed is not her strength. More importantly, I ordered and paid for museum glass, and yet when I hung it at home it had terrible reflections and glare from all angles. I finally took it to a frame shop closer to home (Lone Tree is about 35 minutes from my home) and they quickly noted that it was conservation glass, not museum glass. I had them replace it with museum glass and the difference is huge. So in conclusion, nice woman, good taste, slow worker, and makes errors on your work.
