Stopped in for a quick beer in between the lacrosse and basketball games yesterday. Now known as the U-Pub (formerly Grad Lounge). Nothing special, but do have a few beers on tap, or you can order a glass of wine. Do have pub food as well: salads, burgers, fries, nachos, sandwiches, etc......They also have a pool table, and a couple of TV's.....More extensive selections are available off campus, but if you are on campus, or staying the night at the Campus Center Hotel, it's a pretty inexpensive spot to head to. I love you Grad Lounge. On campus, right across from the blue wall, its great to be able to celebrate finishing a test or paper with a beer on campus. The prices are shockingly low (given they are on campus) and has a pretty good draft selection (usually 2 cheep beers, a sam adams, guinness and a craft brew) and a large botte list. I went to the U-Pub last week before the hockey home opener, and it was, as expected, a good time. There were plenty of students and what seemed to be folks in for a conference. Definitely a fun atmosphere. Quick note about the beer, though--I would consider ordering the cheapest thing on tap, or maybe going with bottles and cans. I started off with a pint of Harpoon White, and I could tell right away that it was not a fresh keg. Then, as I sat at the bar drinking my flat beer, I watched as student after student ordered $10 pitchers of Narragansett lager. I followed their shining examples and happily made the switch to cheap and fresh 'Gansett. Maybe I was just unlucky with the Harpoon. They do have a pretty good selection of draft beer, but if you want to get the freshest beer on tap at a campus pub, you should probably go with the cheapest. Their craft bottle and can selection is solid, as well. Anyhow, next time you go to a game on a weeknight, stop by the U-Pub! You can park at the Mullins Center 2.5 hours (I think) before game time, then head to the campus center to pregame. Support your campus pub! read more

I liked the name "The Grad Lounge" better. A bar on the UMass campus is a great idea, they need to get alcohol at the Mullins Center and the Grad Lounge is a great example of how we can responsibly serve the needs of patrons, even at a crazy party school. read more

A surprisingly decent beer selection at surprisingly decent prices, considering that it's in the middle of the campus center. It's nothing special, to be sure, but a nice place to stop in for a pint when on campus. read more
