U magazine was probably the first young peoples magazine in the country, solely aimed at women and dedicated to celebs, beauty and fashion.
It used to be heavily made up of content form other magazines, but it has become an awful lot more packed with Irish content. I think it received some criticism from its readers, saying they'd love more original material and in fairness to them, it has improved hugely since it first started out.
Now while it may feature big name celebs heavily, you won't be finishing any interviews with Angelia, Jen or Cameron anytime soon. You are more likely to get an interview with Rosanne, Sara or Pippa. (That's Davison, Kavanagh and O Connor. These models haven't quite hit first name status just yet.)
But what I love about it is that it has a no-diet rule, so you won't see any stories about celebs looking like lollipops or it won't feature the latest fad diet. I think that's great - it's definitely sending out the right message to Irish teenage girls. So well done them for that. read more
