It isn't just my journalism degree that makes me sad to see newsprint in the decline. Seeing national institutions like the Sindo have to overfill their weekly edition with wire news and scandal-wagging opinion pieces (outdated before the print run ends) to lure in readers just seems so unfair.
To keep the numbers up for purveyors of my (very pricey) degree's profession, I usually pick up a copy on Sundays for lazy perusal over morning coffees and toast.
The opinions pages can be a bit bombastic with language and editorial opinions that dance on the knife edge of libelous, but as the flashier of the two major Sunday mast heads I think they encourage opinion writers to be a little more inflammatory -it makes for hilarious Letters To The Editor. read more
