I can see why it may have a low rating but that was not the case with by experience and employees who helped my father-in-law and I with renting a 12x6 double axel trailer. We were helped by Ladina? Adina, I'm sorry I can't remember what I heard, I can't hear like I use to, too many Slayer concerts. Either way, she was awesome and helped out with all the rental paperwork process, answered our questions and directed us to find our trailer. That was a little confusing. We drove around and exited and had to drive back in the entrance, no big but where all the trailers that were similar to ours, ours was not. After finding Monty? Vonte I'm sorry dude! You were awesome and my stupid ears couldn't even hear your name. He helped us find and then hook up the trailer. Actually he knew exactly where to find the trailer we were assigned. Experienced. We didn't have a trailer connection so we had to go buy some, $12 bucks. Not to bad. After we hitched the trailer, checked the lights, we made our way back out the exit. I had the worst experience ever. I buy storage lockers and deal with places lime this always!! Jessica G who wasn't even dealing with us after we waited almost an hour in li e began raising her voice and getting angry and abrasive with my husband. She wasn't even the customer service person we delt with and had no reason for interacting with us. Her fellow staff members said she can't handle the stress of her job when the store us busy and apologized for her begavior. We encountered many issues with customer service. - At pick up, the customer service representative (CSR) needed to be reminded that we rented a furniture dolly and blankets. - She did not inform us that we needed to pick these up outside at the shipping container. We assumed they were in the truck, left without them and had to make a return trip. - There was trash in the cab of the first truck - The breaks in the first truck were iffy. - The second truck had half a tank of gas when the reported amount was over 7/8 full. Also, there were 3 additional miles on the truck than originally reported. This was thankfully corrected when we showed a photo of the dash. - When we came with an issue with the keys we were bounced back and forth between the two CSRs. The first couldn't answer our question. She asked the second who was helping another customer. The second then served a new customer who came in while we were waiting for her. We then walked over to get in line behind the new customers. This second CSR left us saying she would be back soon, and did not come back with an answer. We went back to the first CSR who could not help us. When the second CSR finally came back we had to stop her and ask what the answer was. - When we rented the second truck, the CSR did not print the contract for us. Overall, exceedingly poor customer service, unreliable paperwork, unclean and questionable equipment. I will warn my friends not to use this location. read more

You get to the front desk and a lot of employees are walking around but none help you. Then you wait while the front desk lady finishes her conversations about lunch to get sent around the corner to drop off your trailer. The problem is when you get there they tell you the gate is broken and you need to drive around to the other side and drop off there, but when you get there there is not a person around in this empty warehouse. By the time you realize how much of your valuable time you've wasted, you realize it...you might never leave. read more

Unprofessional and slick stereotypical front counterperson. Picked up item ordered a long time ago. First confirmed with customer service to see if order was still valid to pick up and they said ok. Went to store and showed online pymt receipt and she said it wasn't a receipt but it stated order number and payment method. So i showed her details from my bank of the actual payment that showed the amount paid and uhaul name on it and the date that matched the receipt. She finally released the item which after all that trouble i didn't even want it anymore. But the kicker was she said that I could generate a fake bank transaction details for a funky ass 30 dollar item. we went there to get something installed for our truck and took about 1 hour to tell us an answer. they two guys ended up telling us to go to the one in Allen we drove almost half and hour to get there just for them to tell us that they don't have the part.so annoyed the guys at garlad had the parts they where just lazy and didn't want to instal it. not over yet they didnt answer the call when I called to ask why they send us here just kept getting transferred to some other line. do not recommend AT ALL. read more

Do not use this storage! Not only can you never get a "manager" on the phone, you can't get a call back either. I stored my stuff in a unit there, it then got soaked with water on an inside unit. They never explained how that happened. They took no pictures. They lied and said they did, but could never produce them. They then threw my things away. I had insurance on the unit, thankfully, who tried to pay partially but due to the storage's multi failures in this, they paid in full but not before trying to deny they even had to do that. Wrong person. They paid the claim in full. Do not walk, run away from this place. Everything about this experience has been the worst time in my life. Ariana is the manager, IF you can find her, good luck; doesn't answer emails or phone calls ever. I made a reservation on the mobile app for a three hour rental of a truck. After having a terrible experience at another U-Haul chain location, I arrived at this one hoping I could get my move done today. When i arrived at the location, I was looking for my truck as instructed by the app. One of the employees who were tending to the returned trucks greeted me and helped me find my truck quickly. Once I located the truck, I went inside where multiple employees jumped up at the chance to help me and give me the keys. The truck was very clean and the return process was simple. I would highly recommend this location to any one in the Garland or East Dallas location who needs to move. read more

They not only double booked a truck that I called to rent but soon after charged me multiple times for the time that was compensated to me because of their mistake. To make things worse they then had the audacity to charge me even extra for the same truck and trailer I had previously paid for. When I called to get the issue resolved they offered to take of $47 from a charge that was a mistake and a $100 gift card, mind you the total cost for all their mistakes added up to $800+!! It was not even towed to the right place I rented it from. They are charging me for damage that was already on the vehicle when I picked it up and I sent the photo to them weeks ago. This money they most recently took was deposited by a family member last night for life or death medications that I am now 12 hours from not taking. Very helpful. This was our first time using the online after hours return feature when we brought back the van we rented. My criticism was that U-haul was not clear enough about how the online return procedure works. It would help people if there were a few more written details about how that works when you rent a vehicle. However, when we explained the situation to U-Haul the next day, they totally understood and did not charge us the additional $20 service fee. Now we will know how to handle the online return next time, but a few more written details on the process would not hurt. read more

While I have never had a problem with the trucks/trailers I have rented from U-Haul, this last experience has me wondering what they are doing. The one center I stopped at did not have a truck, so they found another one at a fairly close location. When I got there, it said I had a van already rented and they couldn't find the truck one. Thirty minutes later I was in the truck with a deposit of $75 on my debit card. I had to have the truck back in 4 hours. I had to pay a full day's rental cost but had to have the truck back in 4 hours! Not happy but needed the truck. I did not get everything moved. When I returned the truck I asked to use another credit card to pay the balance. They said no, they couldn't do that. Huh? But they issued the credit back to my card. So they said. I called the following week when the credit did not show up. Was told it was processed and was my bank's fault. Called the bank, they did not show credit. Called again to both U-Haul and my bank the following week. Same story. Here it is almost 3 weeks later and no credit. And I got over-drafted for $34 because the credit never showed up. I called the store again (3rd time) and got transferred again to Customer Service. This time the agent found my credit was issued to someone I do not know and on his credit card!! Took me 15 minutes to make them understand I didn't know this guy and I paid the $75 on MY card. Had the bank draft to prove it. And she told me they could have easily used my other credit card like I requested. So after all is said and done, here I sit waiting from another 3 business days to hear back from someone. And still no word on when my credit will show up. This is how to run a business????? read more

These folks are really helpful with propane. You can just pull up and get it filled without any hassle. They typically always have someone there and are very friendly. Pricing is fair - it's worth driving out from Dallas to fill up a few tanks, way cheaper and better fill volume than just replacing at the super market. read more

Where to start. Showed up and waited for 30 minutes in line. Under staffed. I reserved a 5 by 8 trailer and the attendant confirmed they had it. Signed the papers and went out to the lot. The lot attendant told me the inside attendant had actually signed me up for a 5 by 10 trailer which my car couldn't tow due to weight limit. Lot attendant called the inside attendant and she said I couldn't have the 5 by 8 as they were sold out. Shafted. I spoke with a manager and he said he couldn't do anything, but offered me an open trailer. Didn't want my moving boxes and clothes all over the highway so I passed on that. Eventually the manager allowed me to rent the 5 by 8 trailer as long as I returned it at a time that worked best for them. Terrible experience all around. read more

I've had a storage unit there for almost a year(8 mnths), when I got ready to empty my unit I had an emergency and had to postpone my move by 2 days which put me 2 days into a new month. I had to pay a full month for 2 days? I understand there are policies the employees have to follow but they refused to pro-rate or discount any of my $109 for 2 days! I have used uhaul for every move I have ever made. They just lost a loyal customer. Firehouse Movers are awesome. They had a truck bigger than any uhaul truck and amazing speed and rates! I'm always confused about having to wait in line for 30 minutes when there's only two people in front of me. This happened at this location when we picked up the truck, and when we dropped it off. When we dropped it off, the attendant forgot to write down our mileage and had to run after us, then didn't have a pen. I needed to move my daughter's stuff to Denton. I reserved a one-way truck for $72, then got an e-mail saying they were backed up and we would have to wait two days for a one-way truck. So I called the U-Haul 1-800 number and negotiated a deal to get an "in-town" truck at this location, and bring it back here, but for the same cost as a one-way truck, rather than paying through the nose to bring an empty truck back 35 miles to help Uhaul out. Get to the store to pick up the truck, and the employee there tells me the rate they quoted me is wrong, they can't rent a truck that way, she put it in the computer wrong, etc. Between the new rate, and the excess mileage to bring it back, my $72 truck wound up costing me about $130. Basically, they have you over a barrel. What are you going to do on a Saturday at 6:00? Penske and Hertz are closed. If you want a truck at a peak time, bend over and take whatever rate you wind up with. I'll throw them this bone: the truck was clean and didn't break down. read more

I needed a trailer break installed in one of my work trucks. I had one of my employees call to this location. He spoke to the woman telling her the year and make of the truck and that he needed a trailer break installed. She said we have two in stock and that it would be a total of $66.24 installed. We scheduled an appointment. So this morning I had one of my guys drive all the way over there to be told "She quoted you the wrong part." Then they proceed to tell him it would cost around $200.00 I am not saying that this isn't industry standard pricing but on principle I did not have them do the work. My guy showed them all the information including their employees name who scheduled the appointment. The Manager said this is a common problem and that their call center screws things up like this regularly. The number that was called was to this location directory. I am not sure how all that work but he would not honor the estimate given. To top it off I just called again to the same number. The girl tells me it is $89.95. I know that after being informed by the manager this is just for the break not installation. Their system is not one to protect their clients. These people wasted our time and mislead us.
