Thanks to prior reviews I came in cautious and was properly prepared. After making a reservation online, I came in to pick up and started the transaction with a casual "good morning." Nothing over the top but just respectful. A couple of yes "ma'am's" and "no ma'am's" and the transaction was fine - uneventful. Everything was satisfactory to the pick up, the truck functionality, and the drop off (at another location). I did get the feeling (from transactions ahead of me) if you are going to challenge anything that you need to stay respectful. I felt any negativity would be met with a low tolerance level. Very small waiting room (also in pics) so hopefully you don't have to wait long for anything. I would have no qualms about using them again.

We had come from Miami to Gainesville and our window to move the furniture was 2 hours. She could care less about us. I asked how we could cancel the reservation and she said she could offer no help and to call the online reservations. She truly misrepresented budget and its policies. I had to find a pick truck from enterprise and do the moving in 3 trips. I don't understand the previous reviews. She is a master in mistreating people. Congratulations for your horrible treatment of customers

A few days before my rental, U-Haul asked me to transport one of their trailers for a promised $100 payment. However, when I arrived to pick up my truck, the offer was suddenly withdrawn without explanation. My rental was scheduled from May 31 to June 2, 2026. When I arrived at the location where I had made my reservation, the representative did not introduce themselves and simply informed me that my truck had been moved to another location, wasting my time and requiring an additional trip. At the second location, another representative failed to explain the rental process and placed a $100 hold on my card without mentioning it beforehand. The truck was delivered with only a quarter tank of fuel and the check engine light already on. I immediately called U-Haul to report the issue. My original drop-off location was Daytona Beach, but when my plans changed, I called ahead and informed U-Haul that I would be returning the truck to Gainesville. Only then was I told that changing the return location would alter my contract and increase my charges. This was never explained when I picked up the vehicle. Despite returning the truck a full day early, U-Haul kept my $100 deposit, told me I owed an additional $37, and has now sent another bill for approximately $67 while threatening a $30 late fee if it is not paid promptly. The lack of communication, surprise charges, poor customer service, and constantly changing information made this one of the worst rental experiences I have ever had. I left feeling misled and frustrated, and I will not be using U-Haul again.

I picked up a trailer here and was astonished at the helpfulness, friendliness and professionalism of the staff. When I booked the appointment I was surprised how polite and enthusiastic the gentleman who answered the phone was. Later on when I went to inquire how much a dolly would be to rent he eagerly told me, "Oh, we can include that for you free of charge! I will go ahead and notate that on your account right now!" Well alright! My father used this company before and he highly recommended them. They were MORE expensive than UHAUL but I didn't want to take the chance of our reserved truck being given away or given a downsized truck. The customer service so far was superb and with my father's recommendation I was feeling pretty confident in my choice. The day was not without its hiccups unfortunately. Some customer dropped off the rental truck and blocked ENTRANCE and no one could get a truck OUT until the keys were found. As a result the truck arrival was an hour later than expected. My movers (my willing friends) were laid back about it and just feasted on donuts in the meanwhile. No biggie. My husband told me that the employees were *ALREADY* familiar with our order when he arrived and the gentleman making the handoff said, "And it looks like it was noted that you are in need of a dolly. Let me get that for you." without even being prompted! Later on I noticed we were charged for the optional coverage and insurance feature. I made a phone call and the Account Manager Megan quickly rectified the mistake. Our process with Enterprise wasn't the smoothest, but overall I was happy with them.

The manager, Manny, helped us through the rental process and made suggestions (unlimited mileage) that ultimately saved us a bundle. When we arrived to picked up the van, Dom assisted us at pick up. Well done Enterprise Truck Rental!! And THANK YOU!

I arrived at the storage location, which will not be named because this is about Penske, not about the lousy service given by the kid at the storage location. I told him that I reserved a 22 foot truck. The young man told me that all they have available is a 26 foot truck. I explained to him that I had just called Penske and verified that the truck was available and was told that it was. The young man said that Penske's contract states that they guaranty a truck, not that they will honor the truck I reserved. Okay, my fault for not reading the small print and believing the Penske Customer Service Rep. Storage guy told me the extra footage comes at no extra cost to me. Oh, really? What about the extra gas that it takes to drive the larger truck?? The truck that Penske gave me is a 26 foot mammoth that got 6-8 miles to the gallon. Luckily, being a military veteran, I was used to driving trucks that large. The steps to climb out of the truck can be slippery when it's raining. Be careful. Air/Heat was good. Radio/speakers were good except that the radio controls and face plate are so dark, it's difficult to see the radio stations. Make sure to keep whatever you need, close to you at arms length. Why? Because the seat belt tightened as I drove and would not allow me to look over the steering wheel to see what gear I was in or how much gas is left in the truck. I also couldn't reach the radio button and I'm 6 feet tall. In order to keep the seat belt from squeezing me to death, I had to unfasten the belt and pull out more slack. This Penske truck however, didn't allow me to pull the slack out. It locked in place. I had to lower my speed to 45 MPH to get the belt to loosen. I guess it's not made to drive on the interstate. If I wanted to turn left at a 5 point intersection where traffic comes from my right at a slightly less than 90 degree angle, I had to unfasten my seat belt, put the truck in park, crawl over to the passenger side and look back to see if traffic was coming (blind spot), jump back over to the driver's side, throw the truck into 1st gear and floor it while putting my seat belt back on and shifting to 2nd gear. I had to do that twice. Not sure how the semi-truck driver's do it. The diesel gas tank does not fill up to the "Full" marker even though I pulled the hose back out of the tank to put as much as I could. White foam from the diesel fuel prevented me from filling up the tank. Penske charges between $8 to $11 a gallon if they have to refuel the tank to full. Diesel fuel today costs $1.99 a gallon. When checking the truck for damage, be sure to look inside the truck's bed. People bend the hooks and beams in the back and you can be held liable. I found using the shifter on the automatic to be useful in getting up the hill. Make sure to let the engine warm up, otherwise be prepared to hear some strange noises. Also, look under the seat before you leave. Things fall in the cracks and under the seat. I inquired about Penske's moving service. They charge a 2 hour minimum plus travel fee. The cost of using their moving services for 2 hours was higher than renting a one way truck for 400 miles. This was my first experience with Penske. It won't be my last. There's not much to choose from.
