Rivertowne Rentals

Rivertowne Rentals

Rivertowne helped me by renting to me at the last minute so I didn't have to sleep in my car. For…read morethat I was thankful. However, the house was a complete mess with filth and dog hair and garbage everywhere - including several boxes and piles in the front yard. I hired someone to help me clean the house and they reimbursed their cost but gave me nothing for my work. My sales rep, Rodger, actually told me that if the previous tenant's garbage didn't fit in my cans that I would have to buy extra tickets so that the garbage men would take it. I filled out a form that Rodger gave me for all of the items that needed to be addressed by the landlord but the majority were never fixed. The bathroom didn't have a towel bar, the refrigerator leaked inside and I had to place a container to catch the water all year. The water backed up in the toilet and tub and kitchen sink periodically and I just kept plunging and letting Rodger know. The windows had broken locks, the doors had no deadbolts and there was no working smoke alarm. I only got an alarm installed because the management company could get fined if they didn't install it within a time period of my request. However, the alarm didn't even work after installed. Then hurricane Florence happened and after that I was told repeatedly by Rodger that they were overwhelmed with work and mine wasn't a priority because I was able to live there fine. Overall, it was a nice house but definitely needed a few fixes to make it more safe and secure. I left the house broom clean and free of any mess and also paid for someone to cut the grass because Rodger told me that would be an issue if didn't. I informed Rodger that I wanted my security deposit back when I left so we did a walk through so he could see how I left it and tell me if there was an issue. He said he was not responsible for the refund -- that it was handled by the office. I vacated the property on sept 1 and I received a check in mid October for $310 of my $650 deposit. It also contained receipts for $200 to clean the house and $140 to cut the grass on October 1 -- a month after I left. I was livid. I called Rodger who proceeded to lie to me about how I left the property and submitted false information about the status of the house. He eventually hung up on me when I argued that I did what he told me to do. After that I called the manager Christy who was reasonable enough to listen and eventually returned all of my money when I said I have photos and proof of what I did before I left. However this took 4 or 5 phone calls. I appreciated them renting to me without a job, but I did offer 6 months rent up front. I suggest if you use Rivertowne, do NOT deal with Rodger if you want adult conversation. He lies and will not tell you anything to your face when you ask. And he will also hang up if he doesn't want to hear your complaint. Also, make sure you have photos of everything for proof in case you need it.

The absolute worst. And I lived in NYC for many years with horrible rental companies. We rented…read morefrom one of their owners for 5 years. The landlord, Jerry, 2209 Foxhorn, was wonderful and kind and attentive. We build a great relationship with him, or so we thought. When it came time to move out his wife lost her mind, and was screaming and swearing about the behind the fridge having some dust. The management company, who had previously signed off on us doing a great job cleaning, and said we would get out deposit back, was there, Melissa who works for that company had recently been trolling me about the move out and that she wanted my rug (weird), and laughed at the landlords wife lost it like a petulant child. Melissa sent me a series of last min texts saying they needed to get in to do an inspection within the day (illegal, legally you need two days notice, then freaked out and said her husband has his face slammed in the door- spoiler, it was not slammed in his face, just another example of the crazy). I spoke to the owner, who I knew from mutual activities, and she refused to help. Stay away. They are absolutely crazy and corrupt. We did not get our security deposit back, also illegal for normal living in a place. We paid $400 in cleaning to make sure it was in great condition when we moved out. Just a nightmare

Senner Properties

It only took a few weeks to realize the beautiful, 100-year-old house we rented from Senner…read moreProperties was plagued by problems: a flea infestation, squirrel droppings beneath the kitchen cabinets, black mold growing under the cheap shower surrounds, a leaking master shower, a leaking bedroom roof and resulting mold in the carpet, and -- as we discovered by accident -- smoke detectors that hadn't been outfitted with batteries (a legal responsibility of the landlord, and a potentially dangerous oversight). Senner Properties are so intent on pinching pennies that they threw bandaids over each problem. A great example is the five days in the middle of winter that we spent without hot water while the landlord avoided buying a new water heater (despite his own handyman's suggestions to replace it). No rent deductions, no sense of urgency on their end. Or the time we brought the leaking, moldy shower surrounds to their attention, and they literally caulked right over the mold without removing it or exploring the cause. It's still there, growing between the plastic and the wall. The kicker, though, was the illegal deduction from our security deposit for things like "sweeping," "paint scuffs" and "lightbulbs," all of which are considered normal wear and tear. These deductions are included in a letter that begins, "Thank you for taking good care of our property." We treated the house as our own, and only requested action on problems when it was absolutely necessary. So, renter beware: You might find a beautiful house with Senner Properties, but what you see won't be what you get.

Mary Silver was our agent, but the "Team" is what made our transaction so easy and comfortable. This concept of experts in all the required fields of real estate transactions is what differentiates them from many other Real Estate companies. Everyone at D&TNB is interested in making you a part of their extended Team, because they know what customers say to their friends is extremely important. Mary helped us negotiate and led us through the process patiently, no matter how many questions we had! We really like that everyone from the pleasant and professional voice at the office phone number, to the friendly and helpful staff in the office, are there to solve your real estate challenges and make the process as smooth as possible, with no surprises. No hard sell, no pushy people, just smiles and helpfulness. You can tell they don't want a customer for one transaction. They're in it for the long haul!
