If you have a problem besides cataracts do not waste your time at this place. After If you do get cataract surgery there they couldn't care less how your eyes feel or what problems the lenses are causing you. They also ignore you and act like you are lying or being hard to deal with if you tell them that you are allergic to the dilation drops that they insist on doing at each appt. Not every eye dr makes you do this. This place is behind the times. There are other and safer ways to check the eyes. I found out that all the dilation drops damaged my eyes PERMANENTLY. Do your research about frequently dilating the eyes and go elsewhere if you have any issues other than just cataracts. My eyes are miserable since letting them do cataract surgery. They tell me I am fine. I wish they could see and feel what I do. read more

While vacationing here since 8/26/24 I got a swelling in my left eye that I thought was a just a stye but today 8/30 I woke up with my eye very swollen and almost closed. Since I'm vacationing here someone recommended your center. I came in today around 11am and the front desk lady told me they couldn't take me bc they were all booked. The eye exam and staff was very, very nice and helpful. I upgraded my lenses for better vision. But I recently had to go back to my old pair of eyewear because their lenses are not helping me with vision. Also, my frames have a little gap between them and the lens. It's over the timeframe to bring them back in. It saddens me. In my opinion, the glasses/lenses are about the quality of America's best where you get two pairs for xx.xx. So I go in this morning for my appt and they have me fill out my paper work and then inform my that that are out of network with my insurance . They should had told me this before I came in today! Would not recommend coming here at all. Seems to be a corporate office that only cares about your money and not your time or whatever eye issues you are dealing with. I've been struggling with a stye for over 2 months now and was recommended to this group. I took off work to come in here where they said specifically they could help with my stye. I took time to come here and all my the doctor said was "oop! You got a stye- just make sure you do hot compress on your eyes and you'll be fine... oh and schedule a regular eye exam too"!... From here I have no idea why I would schedule a regular eye exam when I came in for somebody to give me a professional opinion on fixing the issue; MY STYE.. Whereas, all she did was point out exactly what Google says to do. Which I have already been doing regularly That's why I came in because None of that Is working. I had told the same doctor that I have had this issue for over a month And yet she blatantly ignored me. When I went to schedule this eye exam to possibly just see what I can get done, the scheduler just says if you have those styes still, you can't be seen at all.. So, as the time for my appointment comes close, I still have these styes that are appearing For seemingly no reason. I have not even been touching my eyes and I have been making sure they are thoroughly cleaned every day. I called the office to cancel my appointment since I had the styes. The lady on the phone asked me why I am canceling the appointment, I told her because I was told I can't have an appointment if I have styes, But then she says I can do an eye exam with the styes. But what about fixing them?? I had already seen a doctor in the clinic and I was recommended to this group and I was also told that they can do something to help me But all they have been doing is recommending regular exams And giving me almost no information at all, as to why I keep getting these styes. I feel like since I have gone here, Everybody has been saying they can help, but they Ignore my issues and recommend coming back for irrelevant things. Clearly, they only care about money since they keep running me around in circles on doctors visits but nobody has helped a single bit. Waste of time, unprofessional, complete disregard for customer service, And an utter disappointment for real. Check in was swift and all the office staff and nurses were friendly. My surgery went great. I was in and out in an hour and half, which I thought was great. I would definitely recommend Dr Stephens. When I went back for my eye exam with Dr Jennifer Gallo, it went just as great as my previous visits. She is a friendly doctor who is willing to answer questions. I was in and out in a half hour. I have been very happy with Tyson Eye. I had my first cataract surgery done elsewhere and I was there a a couple hours and then had complications. My last eye exam appointment elsewhere I was there an hour and half. Just waiting. It's nice to be at an office now that respects our time too! read more

I have needed glasses/contacts since I was 2 years old. I was always told that with the high degree of correction I needed (right eye 20/100, left eye 20/200+), I had no other option than to wear glasses or contacts for the rest of my life. I moved from Chicago to Florida recently and went to Tyson Eye to get new contacts and an eye exam. They asked me if I had ever thought about getting refractive eye surgery. I explained to them that after 50 years of being told I was not a candidate for that procedure, I had not even given it a consideration. Dr. Birr suggested we investigate the possibility of having this procedure done. I was shocked but obviously agreed to pursue this possibility. Dr. Tyson examined my case and confirmed that I was a candidate and would greatly benefit from having it done. He reassured me that this procedure would be safe and allow me to have vision that I had never had before, even with contacts. He was so right! I still can't believe that I can see so clearly with no corrective glasses or contacts. Dr. Birr and Dr. Tyson gave me the greatest gift of vision. They changed my life in the most unbelievable way. Had cataracts surgery and paid extra for laser and after 5 months my right eye right side would see color lights, went back and he did laser to remove scar tissue and I still saw color, so told me I could go to a specialist in Naples. I never had trouble with light before I had surgery. Think twice before you go there. read more

I brought my daughter in for an eye exam yesterday. While we did receive a great exam, we sadly overheard one of the techs complaining about my child. As part of my daughter's eye exam, she had asked us if my daughter had gotten her flu shot, (she has not), and if she was on any medications, (she just happened to be finishing up amoxycillin for an ear infection from last week, and this is the first time she has ever needed an antibiotic for anything). While we were trying to pick out frames, we heard the tech say to the doctor, "Go get your flu shot and keep the germs away." I don't think the tech knew we were standing right around the corner out of her view. It was so incredibly unprofessional and rude and insulting. We happened to not find frames that my daughter liked, and we will NOT return for future visits. read more

Just had my follow up appointment with Dr. David Stephens at Tyson Eye Surgery after having cataract surgery on both eyes. I am so pleased with my vision - first time in my life that I could drive without glasses. I can read on my Kindle with the smallest font and can actually read the text scrolling across the bottom of the TV. Everyone in the practice was kind and efficient. I have never waited more than a few minutes after my appt. time. All of my questions were answered and the billing process was clearly explained. It was Dr. David Stephens at Tyson Eye that I had an appointment with, and I absolutely loved him. I was born and raised 52 years in NY before moving to Florida, and trying to obtain a doctor that meets my standards at times can be challenging. The office is immaculate, and the staff were all pleasant, organized, and acted professionally. I checked in and out without any hassle. I have to say, I wish the wait time was just a bit longer. My appointment was for an issue, but while I waited maybe ten minutes tops, I was looking for my next pair of glasses. They have many to choose from, including Coach. Dr. Stephens thoroughly explained several things that's going on with my eyes, and treatments that will help so I don't have to use heat packs twice a day everyday, along with the numerous over the counter drops I currently use. They called me for appointment set it up 3 weeks out arrived 5 minutes early, 20 minutes later checked at desk not much help said I was next 10 minutes later checked again asked how procedure takes told an hour explained I had another commitment in an hour they said Dr was behind I said my appt was for 9:30 how could he be so far behind with only a couple of patients by then it is 40 minutes past 9:30 they now offer to reschedule, my time is as important to be as the Drs. very disappointed because of a current eye problem. read more
