They quoted a ridiculous amount for the removal and neutering (about $900) so I called around and checked out Four Paws @ John's Creek's website. Most other places refused to quote any amount over the phone, but Four Paws gave me a ballpark figure for the procedures. I was amazed by how the staff was so friendly and helpful, and their prices were WAY more affordable. Michele and Meconya both were patient and answered all my questions by phone, believe me, I had a lot of questions regarding my fur baby's surgery. They even have a new client discount, $25 off your first exam on their website. They also offer dental services, grooming, boarding, and training services. Dr. Sanfilippo did a pre-op and post-op briefing and was informative, genuinely concerned, and helped put my mind at ease. I noticed their prices for the same meds cost a lot less than our previous vet's. It's a bit of a drive OTP but so well worth it! Their office is extremely clean which is important, it does NOT smell, and the staff really makes you feel welcome because they genuinely care and want to be there. At our previous vet, my boy was shaking and refused to get out of the car but in an ultimate sign of approval he didn't hesitate to get out at Four Paws for our post op. After 3 surgeries with Veterinary Emergency Group in Alpharetta (BTW, Absolute Godsend), we were to be released to a vet's care. As our vet was too far away for the frequent follow ups that were to ensue, we were open to suggestions. Dr. Tharp came highly recommended, so we took a shot and could not be more pleased. Dr. Tharp's entire team is amazing. First of all, they were sympathetic, gentle and loving with my injured boy, which goes a long way with a doting dog mom. Dr. Tharp was thorough with her exam and review of all injuries he had sustained. She and her staff gave us excellent care and advice through the healing process. It has been a year and a half and we are as delighted with our choice today as we were initially. After all of the trauma he went through, Louie goes into complete zoomie mode when we get out of the car at their office. He loves the entire team and cannot wait to get in there and visit. This is definitely his way of giving Four Paws Animal Hospital his Two Paws up review!

I found A Canine Affinity from a recommendation in a Facebook group. I had recently adopted a dog…read morefrom the shelter and I suspected she had separation anxiety, so I was looking for someone that was specialized in it. The advice online is confusing and conflicting -- from keeping your dog in a crate or letting them free roam, giving them a kong toy before you leave to not giving them anything, etc. So I scheduled a consultation with A Canine Affinity to learn more about the trainings and determine if it was in fact separation anxiety, or just normal decompression from the shelter. Melissa was wonderful right from the beginning and was very thorough and explained everything very clearly. You can tell she has a passion for this area. I decided that it wasn't too early and it couldn't hurt to do the initial assessment and get some good foundation to try to nip the separation anxiety that she in fact was showing. Melissa built us a solid plan and gave great advice on things like how and where to get my dog situated before I leave, stress body language, desensitization trainings, etc. I'm excited to share that my dog, Birdie, can now be left alone for about 1 hour and she lays down on her bed that's right near the door I leave from while I'm away (although she is still very alert/has her eyes on the door). I even saw her on the camera lay her head down for about 30 seconds, which is such a small thing, but such a BIG WIN! It means Birdie is starting to get a little more comfortable alone. I find myself so proud of my dog and celebrating her small wins, which has been the most rewarding part of this training. Birdie does regress every once in a while, which I'm told is normal, so I am trying to take it one day and one week at a time. Birdie has made HUGE strides and is building confidence and comfort being alone. Just 5 months ago, she couldn't even be left alone for 30 seconds without pacing, howling, scratching at doors, and having accidents in the house. So thankful for Melissa and the wonderful foundation she set me up with. We'll continue with our trainings and hope Birdie continues to progress over the next few months, but if she doesn't, I won't hesitate to reach out to Melissa for some more trainings and guidance. My dog was very fearful and was scared of everything in the world. My dog would panic and freak out on her walks, afraid of strangers. Through private trainings and her "while you're away" day training - I saw my dog becoming more confident, and is enjoying her walks more and is not freaking out at every little thing. He has a very, very good bedside manner with the animals taking time to pet them and spend time with them. He is also very well spoken and explains everything needed when a dog comes in for an issue. I just trusted him with entropion surgery on one of my babies and they did such a nice job and gave her such good care. I would highly recommend this veterinarian practice. His staff is lovely. His vet techs are amazingly competent, and he himself is a wonderful vet.
