While delivery was quick and efficient, calling to schedule the return was a lot more complicated. We had called several times trying to set up a pick up. I was originally told Thursday pick up and they would call between 9-10. Thursday came and went and they were no-call, no-show. No problem-I can easily take another day off to sit around a wait. But they never called or showed the second day despite me talking to customer service and being re-assured they would. I told her what the problems were she stayed on the phone as long as it took. There are limited companies that offer this sort of service and sales. In my opinion that's the only way this place continues to stay in business. Their inability to see to things in a timely manner is only surpassed by their condescending tongue lashing that you receive if ask them if they have done their part of the long and exhausting process of having anything repaired. The fun part about my last interaction was that I was treated as though I was impatient even though it had been exactly 17 days since I had heard from them. The wait was in fact was because they had failed to even schedule a service call. Being a caregiver is hard enough without being gaslit and made to feel as if your call was such a burden to them. My name is Robert. I've been receiving CPAP supplies from Tycon Medical for over 7 years. I am retired military so I've had medical insurance the entire time. I've had copays here and there but nothing over $35 when ordering supplies. My order from Jan 2022 was never received. I call to ask why and they said I have a $197 outstanding bill that they've already turned over to their collection agency. Needless to say, I was livid. I hadn't received any bills from them. I explained this to them and they were adamant that I owed them for the previous years supplies. I personally visited the store on February 21, 2022. I showed them on my online app that there are no outstanding invoices with Tycon Medical. They even agreed! They said they don't maintain the online invoices that they turn over to collection agencies. Now this sounded really suspicious. Nonetheless, I let them run my card so I have no credit reporting hiccups. Something I take tremendous pride in. I asked them to be sure not to send me any supplies and expressed that I wanted them to cancel my current request that's in their system. I recommend NO ONE uses this company. If they treat their long time customers this way, I can only imagine how new ones are treated. I must say, the representatives really appeared to care less about losing my business. This business always (daily) parks their huge delivery vans perpendicular to the curb, sticking out into the side street (Raleigh Ave) and causing traffic congestion. The Norfolk PD has asked them multiple times to stop, yet they continue with this practice. I would recommend the Tycon location in Portsmouth. Much more courteous to their neighbors. read more

Ended up not using them as a provider after several issues. Their automated service still calls me about supplies even though I don't use them anymore. When I finally answered yes to more supplies (because they didn't stop calling) a real person called me and was snotty after I told them I don't use them anymore. INEFFICIENCY OF EMPLOYEES Ordered shower chair 1st week of December 2017 after bypass surgery. On dec 26th, i called to follow up order and found out it was ready for pick up 2nd week of December. No calls, no follow throughs from the company. They got the money from my insurance company but didn't bother to call me for pick up. They do not CARE for patients like me who order small items. Since my first 2-Star review has been dumped in the "not recommended" section I'll just post a new one with the follow up. Well, just getting back to this. Tycon pretty much sucks. They did order the longer articulating leg rests for my Dad's wheelchair, but the guy that delivered it just dropped it on the floor and left... just like he did with the wrong ones delivered weeks earlier. I had to get the proper wrench out of my toolbox to adjust it myself. They also left the wrong leg rests that they dropped off. Why bother returning them when Medicare already paid you for it. Right? Never did the requested maintenance on the front wheels either. Don't use Tycon if you don't have to. read more

Mr. Mike A. 1/28/2021 I've been a 60 year old new patient with Tycon Medical since september 2019. To start with, they started off ok. Here in November 2020, a contact person in supplies failed to return my phone messages all the way up to December. I called another extension and shared this, the stress and complication it caused me and asked to whom could I talk with about it and was told no one. I asked what about a manager? She said, she is going to say the same thing. I asked her for answers and she couldn't give no answers. She in the beginning , quickly started off with saying that I didn't have enough time on my cpap machine. I said to her that I was the one that called her and that's why I called. I'm up 2am, sometimes 3am because I cant sleep. My new pcp dont want to give me sleep meds. and no sleep causes stress and stress causes no sleep. When this happens my insurance won't pay for my therapy. Now I need supplies and can't get them. she said, If you read or watch TV you could wear your cpap early. My hose was worn and kept coming a loose and because of the missed sleep I needed to make-up lost time and had so much to do. Everything for me was out of wack. I told her that If their contact person, I believe had been returning my calls, I wouldn't have to be facing this now and It wouldn't have become this big of a problem. My pcp wouldn't return my phone call as the desk person promised, my new physician assistant migraine doctor asked his desk secretary to try to help first before reaching out to him but she couldn't and wanted me to tell her everything which made more stress, so I told her that It was too much but I'll try and put It in a small saying. I did and she didn't think that was enough information. I told her that I would give details to him when I speak with him. She claimed that she sent an email but I didn't get a return call after doing this 2 times up until 2 weeks or more. ANYWAY he didn't want to hear me out because this wasn't exactly about his services and he didn't call me after doctor and patient visits and had to see another patient. All I wanted was some advice and I couldn't be driving around in the traffic falling asleep and needing my therapy. And my sleep doctor said that he only have one number and that's not who he needs to speak with. So I called again on DECEMBER 17th and left a message and the person that was supposed to return my calls picked up. I tried to tell her about all of the trouble behind her not returning my phone calls and she was short with me and didn't want to hear what I had to say and cut me off Insensitively and rudely as if she was saying ,we are not going to discuss any of that and then forced and rushed me to move on sternly, as how can I help you. I asked why did she not return my phone calls and she tried to make excuses. She said I work from home and had to move all of my furniture around. I said that I called and left messages NOVEMBER and DECEMBER. She said,"I didn't get them" We had a fall out and she said she would have me discharged. I said go ahead, I have already shared some of this with my doctor and he said that this is poor quality service. I got 2 calls from I think It was Donna asking me to call. I didn't at first because I thought she was going to cover for the employee. The next message said if I wanted to order call her. This was after I had struggled to keep the cpap hose on the machine and lost many more hours to make up lost time on my machine. I called Donna I believe FRIDAY of last week and she hasn't as of yet returned my phone call so that I can make an order. Before all of this I had been getting mix messages about some one ordering the basics of what is allowed of my coverage. Order for me every 3 months. Now I'm told I have been given the wrong information. I think I rather die in my sleep without the cpap therapy than to have a heart attack behind all of this. These medical facilities I thought was to improve my health but they are killing me. I was awake and up out of bed about 3:05am. It's 6:30am now and I'm just finishing-up my letter and none of this is my fault. I STILL CAN'T USE MY MACHINE. read more

We ordered a transport wheelchair that we needed for Thanksgiving day. The week before Thanksgiving we were told there was a problem with the order, then two days before Thanksgiving we were told the was a problem with Medicare. That same day "someone" at Tycoon straightened the problem out and we were able to pick up the wheelchair. The front desk employee, a very nice lady was very helpful, professional and courteous in providing the chair and explaining how it is used. We appreciate all the help as we greatly needed the chair by Thanksgiving. read more

VERY DANGEROUS COMPANY!! I had Tycon Medical as my wheelchair supplier and maintainer. I recently had the back of my chair break causing me to fall back through it and to the ground. They sent someone out to fix it. The guy "fixed" my chair. Within a week of his "repairs," the back broke again causing me once again to fall through it. I called them on a Friday saying I needed emergency repairs so I wouldn't fall through the back of my chair again. They said they would discuss it in their Monday morning meeting. They called back Monday saying they couldn't get a technician out to me until Thursday. So, this is their idea of handling an emergency situation that they caused in the first place. The back broke again Wednesday causing me once again to fall through it and to the floor. The tech (Danny) came out again Thursday. He blamed the fact that three bolts breaking causing the back to fail and me to go through it was in fact my fault, the paraplegic who relies on the chair to get anywhere and everywhere. He then said that he "doesn't sh** parts" and therefore couldn't fix it today. Needless to say, I fired them at that point. The incompetence of Tycon Medical is mind boggling. That they get away with it is criminal. Protect yourself from serious physical harm...don't go with Tycon Medical! read more
