I ordered a mulberry tree for a gift for Mother's Day. Poor customer service! I ordered mature plants, paid extra. Received half dead plants, poor root system. I reached out to customer service as soon as I received the plants. They had me send pictures to email address. I didn't hear anything. I called and spoke with Josie in customer service. /She acknowledged the conditions of the plants and was going to talk to management about replacing them. I heard nothing. I called and spoke with Marline in customer service who said the plants were mature plants they are still alive plant them. that is just how they send them out. she offered 20% off my next order on one of the plants. In March I placed an order for a 6-7 ft Damson plum tree in hopes of planting a more mature tree. I confirmed with customer service that it would be shipped dormant to allow it to acclimate to our still freezing temperatures in the Northeast. It arrived several days later than promised, fully leafed out and with all of its new growth frozen. All of its leaves soon browned and died. Two months after planting it still has no leaves or signs of growth above ground. Ty Ty customer service has taken several days to reply to my messages and ultimately articulated that their policy is that they will not offer any compensation or acknowledge that the tree's value is diminished. Customer service wrote that the shipping conditions may mean that the tree sits leafless for several months in my yard and could impact the future growth of the tree but that does not diminish its value. In fact they consider losing all leaves normal and a reasonable expectation after planting any of their trees while the tree focuses on regrowing roots, which has not been my experience with the several trees I purchased from other online businesses. Their warranty only applies to a tree once its cambium (lower bark) shows no signs of life. This might match other consumer's expectations and it is listed on their website, but I thought sharing this practical application of their policy might help shoppers align their expectations. A quick search of Google and Yelp will turn up plenty of similar experiences. Bought 3 fig trees in February and picked them up; in 1 month 2 of the trees were growing beautiful leaves but the third no growth, no growth at 2,3,4 months called and asked for replacement or credit. They would not give replacement but would issue a credit in the summer month of June three months in the future. Planting in mid summer is not wise and they suggested that I just use my credit next year. No other options: no refund no immediate credit that I could use this month not 3 months in the future. read more

I ordered a redbud tree from here. When it arrived the top was snapped and all the leaves were dead or dying with brown/black spots all over them. We purchased a Dogwood tree in the spring of this year. It appeared dead! We called to get a refund and were told we had to wait a week to consider the return. It apparently needed more time in the ground! Time went by and we kept putting off calling them, as we felt it was not gonna go smoothly. The tree had no leaves and no roots. I contacted their customer service area. Lady I spoke with asked I send her pics and she'd discuss with her manager. I never heard further from the company. I should've read reviews before ordering from them. I order two trees and one grape vine, paid extra for 3 years old so it can fruit this year... After a 25% "special" discount (it seems they have 25%-33% discounts all the time) prices were OK, not the cheapest but reasonable. All arrived in the same box, packed OK, a few days. The vine was probably dead on arrival, looked dry, but I assumed it was dormant. I planted all three promptly after getting them. The two tree after a coupe of weeks "woke up" and started growing nicely. The grape vine showed no signs of life even a month after planting it. So far I'd say to myself this can happen, it's a living plant, things can happen. I emailed them multiple times over a week using two email address they provide on the web and the contact us form. No response at all, neither auto acknowledgment or anything else. Zilch. First strike. Then I called and eventually got a human on the line. She looked and my account and saw my emails, so they got them, just didn't bother to respond. Second strike. I explained again the situation and said I'm willing to get a replacement or refund, either is find. She said I can't until June. Third strike. I asked why. She said it's our policy and on the website. I said I didn't see it anywhere on the website, more than that they have this "insurance" that if a plant doesn't make it they are responsible for a whole year. She said can't do anything, and we don't refund, only store credit if allegeable and only in June. Forth strike. I explained I ordered that vine to have grapes this year, and not only it arrived dead, now I have to wait till June for store credit? asked to speak to a manager. Not available. Fifth strike (we're way off baseball rules by now). I insisted I wanted to talk to a manager. She said she will get someone to contact me. I asked when and how, she said either phone or email, she can't tell me when. I asked today? Tomorrow? Can't tell me. I lost number on the strikes. I tried to insist but got nothing. Ended the call after politely expressing my feelings, explaining that because of the service I probably will not buy from them again, and that it's unadaptable. It also said that they do refund in some cases, so they CAN refund, they just won't - even though they sent me a dead grape vine. !!DO NOT ORDER FROM TY TY!! I have never had a worse experience buying something in my entire life. On 4/7/25 I placed an order a fig tree for $129.75 The fig tree arrived in poor condition And did not come out of dormancy like it was supposed to. I contacted them because they have a plant insurance policy in case this happens. After contacting them I was told that they won't process claims until June. I waited until June, got 97.31 in store credit (no refund for the shipping) for the dead fig. 6/22/25 I placed an order with that store credit for three different plants. After placing the order I was informed that one of the items was not in stock and that shipping wouldn't be available for it until December. They had sent me another email stating that they would be happy to help me pick out something that was available for shipping. And I replied to that okay what's available for shipping. And they literally sent me back an email saying nothing. At this point I was really confused because on one hand they were saying that they would help me find something. But when I would actually try they would say nothing was available to ship because of the weather.... At that point I was irritated and I asked for my money back which they said it's policy they do not give cash refunds. I was beyond irritated at that point and just told them to ship me out what I ordered whenever they can. The new ship date I got was December 2nd, on December 1st I sent him an email asking if my items were ready to ship. They replied with an email stating that the replacement fig tree (that they added to my replacement order on their own as a courtesy because they saw how pissed off I was) wasn't part of the store credit that I used or that I used all the store credit so there was a balance that I owed because of the fig tree and the shipping. Remember I never ordered the fig they added it on their own as a courtesy. I sent another email on unacceptable I thought this was and how I have been waiting for months and months and this is ridiculous. Just got another email, new ship date SPRING 2026! Poor Quality Tree and Even Worse Customer Service I ordered three fruit trees from Ty Ty Nursery (Order #577936 placed on 04/24/25). Two of them arrived healthy and are growing well. The third -- a June Yellow Plum Tree -- arrived with a bad graft and was clearly not viable. I soaked all three trees in water overnight per standard practice and planted them the day after delivery, giving each the same care and attention. Within a few weeks, it was clear that the plum tree was dead. It never leafed out, while the others thrived in the same conditions. I reached out to the company within a month, expecting a straightforward resolution. Instead, they offered me a store credit of only $16.56, even though I paid $20.75 plus tax and shipping. That credit requires a $40 minimum purchase, doesn't apply to shipping or tax, and would cost me over $50 just to use it for a replacement. Only after I pushed back did they offer a direct replacement -- but even that came with strings attached: I'd still have to pay $30 out of pocket for shipping and tax, and wait until next season to receive it. In short: I received a defective tree, reported it promptly, and was given the option to either pay more to replace what I already paid for or accept a credit that forces me to spend even more. That's not customer service -- it's passing the buck. I won't be ordering from Ty Ty Nursery again, and I strongly encourage others to shop with companies that actually stand behind their products. read more

However, their trees are unhealthy and inferior to those from other nurseries (Brighter Blooms, Fast Growing Trees, etc.). I have purchased 5 different Paw Paw trees from Ty Ty and 4 have died. My latest purchase used plant insurance credits and I ordered a 6'-7' Paw Paw tree. Ty Ty sent me a spindly little 5' sprig with barely any root system. I expect it to die as well. I have left negative reviews on their website, but they filter them out as they only publish the positive reviews. I am very disappointed with my purchases from them and will no longer be a customer. Plants received were not ready for planting. Arrived March 20, 2024 early spring. Planted immediately since they were bare root. I carefully babied these plants for 4 months before I even saw a bud swell. Watering daily as needed, August 1, I finally got a few leaves. The royal star Japanese magnolia has more bare branches than branches with leaves. The grancy greybeard tree is but a twig with 2 branches coming off the 18" central leader. It has 3 leaves at the top. The lateral branches are just twigs with no leaves. I strongly recommend by passing this business and finding a legitimate nursery to spend your money at. Not recommended. When I contacted them, they said you're buying the roots not the plant. Ouch! Not what expected. One of the plants arrived dead with hardly any root. Contacted Customer service and they said I would have to wait for growing season. I patiently waited 3 months and followed their process. Finally got them to agree the plant was dead and wanted a replacement. Watch out on their replacement/insurance policy. You will still have to pay shipping and taxes which is not cheap. Update: I took a chance and paid for shipping for a second tree. This one had the same problem and never grew. Both shagbark hickory trees they sent had their taproots hacked of to a size of about 8". A tree the size I ordered should have a taproot of several feet long. I'm sure that's a large part of the problem with them not surviving. read more

Always a great experience with Tyty! Do not put off planting bare root plants! All plants suffer some stress in shipment and will need optimal conditions (planting/watering) from arrival. As I stated in my other review the tree arrived dead. They did replace it under warranty however I had to pay shipping again. This tree also arrived dead. Neither tree ever had a leaf on it or anything that even begin to look green. After I contacted them they want the same as last time, take a knife , scrape the bark, take a picture to prove it's dead and send it to them. And I'd be out another $30 . Two trees, two trees dead. In the past I ordered from a different Nursery , they did not have this tree, and those three trees have arrived green they've been planted and they have survived three winters.
