My daughter and a bunch of her 14 yr old friends took a series of self defense classes here. They taught the girls how to be aware of their surroundings. It was not a fear tactic but a reality check. They taught the girls how to get out of physical situations that were very realistic. I was impressed and learned a lot myself just by watching. The instructors really seemed to care that the students got the concepts down and weren't just phoning it in. Definitely worth it!!! read more

My son has been attending TXBBA for almost 3 years! My initial reasoning was to get him into a structured environment and something he could do the rest of his life to stay physically active. Little did I know that it would involve so much more. They teach kids to have confidence in themselves which carries into their daily actions! We also received a large group of people that we now consider extended family. They say it takes a village and we definitely have that at TXBBA-Fort Worth! This place charges wayyy too much for the 30 minute "playdate" sessions that the call lessons.. my son has been there for 3 months, hasnt learned AnythinG, and when we tried to talk to the owner about having lost my job, and my son needed to quit because of financial reasons, all they did was quite litterally wave the contract in our faces!! We had my sons 10th birthday here and Donnie's sons hosted it. It was affordable, they decorated for me with their own decor, provided plates and flatware, they were great with the kids, and made this day so special. We chose a Jedi training party so all the kids used light sabers and learned professional moves. We had cake and opened gifts and then they did a Star Wars trivia while cake settled. The party ended with a battle and all the kids including my son thought it was the most awesome party they've ever been too. I am so glad we booked our party here and we will be back! read more

untrustworthy place. All they care about is getting people to sign up and trick you into a contract that wont give you a refund. They refuse to give any money back and treat you terribly when giving various reasonable explanations as to why you no longer want their services. The owner doesnt even teach the classes. Some teenage kid is teaching the classes and has a "i dont care" attitude. sometimes the teen is playing around instead of attending and teaching the class. Teen would be talking to his girlfriend instead of instructing. The owners wife is demeaning, rude, and will laugh at you while you're trying to do your best. She will also sometimes teach the classes too. It's a hot potato random selection of who will teach the "classes". Sometimes the class for 15 min or 30 min then 10 min the next time you go. It was never consistent and a complete waste of time and money. Biggest regret and worst decision ever going here. Negative stars. Oh... and not to mention... it's like they never clean the place. If I could give 1/2 a star, I would. Save yourself the pain and frustration and do not enroll your kiddo! The space itself is very small and they do not cap the classes, so we experienced very full classes and only one instructor. Advanced students (often very young),"assist" the classes, however, there is no way the students get individualized instruction due to lack of manpower. The parents and siblings sit next to the mat to wait for class to end, and, there are so many parents watching the class that they run out of chairs and it's standing room only. Toddlers are screaming and it's complete chaos. It's impossible for the karate students to focus due to the crowding and noise. Parking is a nightmare. It's expensive for what you are actually getting, as they charge separately for everything. Bottom line: it's a rip off and you don't get your money's worth. read more

my gradnson crys because he cannot understand the instructor and gets mixed up ...i have tried to cancel but they will not cancel even though my grandson does not speak spanish...when i just assumed it would all be in english (most is but not completely as the insturctor will speak in spanish occassionally and it totally confuses a 5 year old)..... i feel like i am punishing him to make him go because they will not cancel the contract so i am stuck for 16 months... read more

I went there and my daughter was so happy to start a class with them, I didn't want a long contract though but Mr. Donn assured me that I can cancel and he asks me to sign one paper and he was telling me what in it since it was written in tiny hand writing, after two months my daughter wasn't feel good to continue and I went there to talk to them, and they show me there other face, so be ware from what you sign and don't trust them read more

Two years ago my family "shopped" for a karate studio for our two boys to attend. After going to several other studios we came across Tx Black Belt Academy. We instantly loved it! They have great programs so the whole family can train! The instructors are awesome and have become like family. Since joining my kids have not only learned karate but also lesson to be used in everyday life. The instructors talk to the kids about being respectful, confidence, what to do if confronted by a bully, strangers, and many more useful everyday lessons.
