Unlike many other agents, he wasn't pushy or made us feel like we weren't worth his time. We didn't signup with Kevin immediately but we exchanged email every few months. He proactively sent updates in the market and comparables so I could ground my expectations when it was time to buy. They also were in lockstep with our lender to ensure the lender was prepared and informed about the tight timeline. Ultimately, I presented Kevin and Diane a very complex transaction that had a very tight and consequential timeline. They fully understood the challenge and accepted us as clients. Kevin and Diane always answered their phone and proactively searched for off market listed so we could achieve our goal of buying a home. Kevin and Diane reached into their network to identify multiple off-market opportunities and accompanied us to multiple showings. While this put us in an uncomfortable position, Carylee was boldly confident she would get our home sold quickly and for the best price. Following the initial launch of our property, we received offers, however, they were much lower than we had hoped. After a couple of weeks, showings became more sporadic due to the Thanksgiving holiday. On numerous occasions, we asked Carylee if we should reduce the price and each time, she was hesitant to agree. While most Realtors would delight in a price reduction to achieve a quick sale, we were advised to stay the course. I can't begin to say how displeased I am with McMillian Realty. My home buying experience with them…read morewas nothing but hassles, stress, and incompetence. I thought Realtors were supposed to work for you and look after your best interests, but McMillian Realty only worked in their best interest. McMillian agents and their Vice President of Sales made my home buying experience a nightmare and a calamity. Some examples I would like to point out are the following: 1) Poorly written contracts by the agents - My purchase contract was written so that it needed to be revised 6 times. It left loopholes and when we tried to get the agent to clean up the contract we were directed to a rude and unprofessional VP of Sales, Lupe Soto. We were then told by the Lupe that the contract was an "illegal contract" and "not valid". Well, your own agents drafted and supposedly got this contract language approved by your team. That is incompetence! If you have been in the business for 17+ years you should know how to write contract language. In reality, the contract had been written in terms not favorable to the brokerage so they wanted to find some way out. 2) Backdoor deals - You always expect your real estate agent to communicate with you anything that might affect you as a client and your financial well being. This was not the case with McMillian. We learned through the seller's agents that our agent had been telling them that we did not want the house and that we would cancel the deal. This was not true! The VP of Sales was communicating directly with the sellers to try to modify the terms of the contract without even informing us or even tell us what terms she was proposing to them. When we asked why McMillian didn't inform us she said they were working in our best interest and didn't need to inform us. That is bad business! 3) Not representing the principal client interests - To reiterate what I have said before, McMillian did not represent our interests or wishes. During negotiations with the sellers, McMillian would negotiate in their best interests. When we would ask them why the contract needed to be modified from terms which both parties signed and agreed to we would be told that the contract was illegal. We would also be told that the sellers agents were unreasonable and we should back out when this was not true. We really wanted the house so we tried to we started to work with the sellers agents directly because things were going no where with McMillian. McMillian would still get the commission, but instead they got very upset and claimed that they would not allow the contract to go through and even threatened to cancel the contract. Unbelievable! I have been doing business for a long time and never had a company threaten to not allow a signed deal by both parties to go through even though McMillian was going to make 5% from the sale of my home and the purchase of the new home regardless of whether we worked with the sellers agents or not. I felt like I was dealing with a used car salesman and not a supposedly professional and "ethical" real estate company. In summary, home buying is supposed to be a joyous experience, but when the company which you hire to represent you is unprofessional, rude, shady, and not representing their clients in their best interest then why would I want to spend tens of thousands of dollars hire a company like that again? I consider my commission to them a waste! With so many realtors to choose from, use anyone but McMillian Realty.
