I first tried Two Roosters years ago when they were newer. My husband and I tried to very different flavors and they tasted so bland we couldn't tell them apart. I didn't try them again until they made a pizza flavor for the fair. The worker was rude but the ice cream tasted great. Fast forward to the hype of the chocolate chess pie and I feel like they could be my favorite ice cream in the area. I really enjoyed the Nov flavors and the January flavors were intriguing so back I went and they did not disappoint. I especially enjoyed the pb cookie one. I'm an avid lover of ice cream and I've always loved Two Roosters. My family and I pretty much visit this place at least once every month. I love the flavor offerings; I think they really push themselves to make creative ice cream flavors and I really appreciate that. I always get a flight because I love to try out their rotating "guest flavors" which change monthly. The staple flavors are great too and the Blackberry Hibiscus is my favorite. The staff are always super nice and service is quick. As for the interior, it's an ice cream shop so it's not glamorous. I'm not a huge fan of the harsh fluorescent lighting but I do appreciate that there's a really nice and very large outdoor seating area out front. Small, local triangle chain based ice cream shop located in Raleigh! I wanted to go here because the menu online looked really good. They have the usual staples of flavors available, but then had a local kid chef series for May 2025. My husband and I decided to pick from the chef series menu. I ordered the strawberry lemon pound cake. The menu described it as a vanilla base with chunks of housemade pound cake and ripples of strawberry jam and lemon curd. It was good, but it definitely needed more chunks of flavor because it mostly tasted vanilla with hints of lemon. My husband ordered the Caramel PB Oreo. The menu described it as a vanilla base loaded with Oreo chunks, Reese's Pieces, and a salted caramel swirl. Now this one was perfect! Everything swirled together nicely and you could taste the different flavors in every bite. I would've loved to try more flavors, so I need to go back. Two Roosters has an ice cream flight that they advertise that is 6 scoops served out of an egg carton box. This is perfect for someone that wants to try multiples of everything. I do have to say as a first timer it was hard to process all the flavors because the ice cream isn't labeled and out to see like a traditional shop. I recently visited Two Roosters after a long walk and needed something sweet to end off the day. I walked in and was greeted by a sweet aroma and plenty of kids inside arguing over which flavor was better. As I get to the front of the line, I see a large board filled with regular flavors and a few select "rotational" flavors. The first one to catch my eye is rocky road. My girlfriend scans the board and ends up choosing the cinnamon donut flavor. When I say the single is a big scoop, I mean that they are MASSIVE scoop. To be honest, I think I could've gone with a kids' size, I had enough left over to save some for later into the night. The ice cream itself was very rich and impressed me with how deep the flavor notes were. It was heavy, but not to the point where it becomes overbearing. Parking can be tight in that area but there's plenty of places to get dinner after an appetizer of ice cream plenty of seating inside and staff that welcome you with a smile. They brought back samples but limited to just 2 a person that being said the Icecream is still fabulous. This time I ordered the Peppermint Crack Bar and Spiced Eggnog: 2 of the December rotation flavors. The spiced eggnog was literally eggnog frozen. They made it extra creamy and thick. Delicious ice cream and love that we discovered this new(er) location (to us). The employees were inundated with business. They could hardly keep up! The positive thing is they had good attitudes about it all. Customers seemed patient and all requests were in stock so their inventory management is on-point. However, their management has not listened to the ones in the field as they only had two scheduled on a Friday night. Went back and still only two scheduled on Sat night! I've been so excited to try two roosters for a pretty long time and the ice cream was good. I tried the cinnamon donut and the wildberry pop tart. I thought they were perfectly fine, but I wouldn't get them again. The shop is very lackluster and uninviting. You can't see the ice cream behind the counter (womp womp) and there is nothing on the walls, no music, no vibe or feel to the place. The atmosphere needs an overhaul! And just like that another Two Roosters Ice Cream pops up in the Triangle. This is by far the most bare bones location I have seen. My guess is they just wanted to be open and will deal with the decor down the road. The good part is the ice cream is all there and all delicious. The only difference I noticed is they don't seem to make the waffle cones fresh on site, instead they came out of a bucket. It made the waffle cone more chewy than usual, but I still enjoyed it! I dove into their July flavors as that Brookie-O sounded too good to pass up. It was awesome! Delicious chunks of brownie, cookie dough, and oreo all throughout. I also gave the peanut butter cookie a try which was my husband's favorite. They have a few tables instead and this plaza has an outdoor seating area which I'm guessing can be shared by Two Roosters customers as well. I'll be back to try and avoid the lines at their Person Street location! read more

What's so great about Two Roosters? We ordered 3-different flavors in our group an no one was overly impressed. We had chocolate, a blueberry flavor, and a thin mint flavor. We all ordered in cups and did not try the cones. This location in particular was very confusing. I gather it is new but had an anemic decor. It was really hard to tell it was an ice cream place. Inside was a few laminated menus, plastic spoons, napkins and the walk up counter to order that felt more like a hamburger / hot dog grill than an ice cream parlor. It was ice cream but more of a buzzard experience than a rooster. read more

I'll start off with 2 complaints. It does need to be decorated. However I completely understand that they have newly opened. Another suggestion would be to put a trashcan right outside. Today my husband and I were celebrating our 36th wedding anniversary and thought we'd treat ourselves to your ice cream which is something we do not often do.  We've heard such great things.  I had perused the menu of flavors before we left home and had my two flavors selected. We arrived around 1pm today to find NO ICE CREAM except chocolate and vanilla - NOT the special flavors about which we've been told. Every menu had the "good" ice cream flavors covered with masking tape.  I asked the counter server if being out of ice cream was a frequent occurrence and she was borderline grouchy with me.  I told her that we had come over for a special treat and found nothing.  She had the weekend had been busy and the holiday traffic was heavy. What kind of ice cream store - a local one - doesn't have ice cream? We drove over to Local-Fresh...I don't know if anything could induce me to try your shop again.  Needless to say, the experience left a strange non-ice-cream taste in my mouth. read more
