After just my first week of training, I already noticed a big difference in how I felt. I was less anxious, more comfortable, and starting to feel like I truly belonged. The coaches and staff have been absolutely amazing. They are patient, encouraging, and always willing to take the time to help explain things and make sure I understand the movements. I really appreciate how supportive they are and how willing they are to meet me where I am in my training. I'm so grateful I decided to step outside of my comfort zone and join this gym. I'm excited to continue learning, getting stronger, and being part of such a supportive community. Obviously I wasn't in great shape coming in but the instructors (thanks, Katie!) have been so wonderful about helping with modifications when needed and encouraging me to push harder when I find something I'm good at. Class is different every day so I haven't gotten bored and I hurt after every class because I can put so much into it. I never thought I could feel like this after just an hour a couple of times per week. I feel so much stronger!!! Thank you so much for providing such a great program at such an affordable rate! I was doing Crossfit for a almost a year before I started at Crossfit CDI, and I left in better shape and stronger than I came in. Darren is an excellent coach who can help people of all skill levels. He is an extremely active coach who will help make sure you are using the correct form while simultaneously pushing you to be your best. With Darren having a background in physical therapy he knows the best way to avoid injury and will provide you with additional stretches and movements to help stay loose and active. Lastly, the environment of the class is very welcoming and everyone will introduce themselves. Crossfit CDI has built a great community that you do not find at many gyms and it makes going to the gym much more enjoyable. I found Athena in 2017. By sheer luck, I happened to find the most wonderful, perfect humans and…read moretrainers there. Let me tell you my story. They (Megan -- and now Meghan, too) have loved me and trained my unruly, fat, deconditioned, broken, unique, just-as-it-is body and taught me to use it and taught me just how strong and resilient it is. I had NO idea what I was doing when I found them. I learned everything from scratch. They taught me that exercise shouldn't HURT. They trained me (and others) through the Pandemic and remotely while I was in DC for two years -- in a 400 sq ft apartment where Megan couldn't see me half the time. Then I came back to Carlisle with Long COVID. And my even MORE unruly, rebellious body. They figured out Post-exertional malaise (PEM) and chronic fatigue with me (and yes, that's very, very real). We have worked through locked up joints and hypermobile joints. And POTS. Oh, a car crash and a couple concussions And we figured out how to train a new body -- literally. Everything was different. We fucked up A LOT -- and experimented together. I spent a lot of time on the floor. There were a lot of tears. And a lot of swear words. And some really silly moments, and some really stupid ones. And there was that treadmill disaster. But there have been an awful lot of victories, too. I can sometimes get things off of shelves. I went kayaking a few weeks ago. I can walk about half a mile without stopping if it's not too hot outside. (I used to walk 5 or 6 for fun.) I am lifting serious weights again. My cardio stamina on a stationary bike is so vastly improved from a couple years ago I feel like a different person (although I still have a looong road ahead on balance and walking). I can almost lift my arms above my head. These are huge wins. And it's because when trainers are good, they are very, very good. And the Meg(h)and are the best there are. They know when to push and when to back off. They know how to challenge and inspire. They celebrate wins and hold space for fear and sadness. And they help us create community as we learn to live in and live our bodies. It's pretty freaking spectacular.

I think this may be the only gym with a pool and hot tub other than the YMCA. At the Y there are only certain hours you can swim. This gym is laid back and a pleasant break from the loud big gyms always popping up. There is even a new Tai Chi/ Qigong class as well. Well worth the money.

It has about 7-8 squat racks, Olympic weights, TWO separate free-weight areas, multiple heavy bags for boxing, areas for stretching, running, climbing, jumping and even a pool. It has more variety than I know what to do with and I've been lifting for 16 years. It's amazing. Hell, they even provide you chalk! CHALK! Most gyms prevent you from bringing your own chalk because "it's messy", yet this place provides its own chalk and the place is sparkling clean. The only qualm I have is that it's a little tight with all the stuff they have here but it doesn't make it too difficult to move around. This is honestly my favorite gym on the planet and I'm saddened that I'm only living in Chambersburg for five weeks because I will miss it immensely. If you have the joy of living here and you want a gym to go to, look no further because this is the peak of Mt. Olympus. Cheers!
