Yelp guided me here on an unseasonably snowy April day, when I was craving a meal with a warming…read morespicy kick. The lunch set is very reasonably priced for Stockholm, the staff people were friendly and hardworking, and I virtually had the restaurant to myself at around 1pm. The food, however, was a bit of a let down from the rave reviews that others have given.
First, there was an off-putting sweetness and color to the electric red sauce accompanying the chicken tikka sizzler. The red should come naturally from the chili powders that they use, but this wasn't very spicy, and the color seemed to come from a dye. I found the sweet overtones strange and unpalatable. Also, oddly enough, the plain naan that I ordered was also slightly sweet, as if it had been baked or warmed on the same griddle as a pancake. The quality of the chicken and grilled vegetables was delicious, but the rest was truly confusing for the palate.
I also ordered a veggie samosa to go. I know that samosas are fried, and that a certain amount of grease is inevitable, but by the time I took it out of the paper bag (several hours later), it was completely soaked in oil and the outer pastry exterior was beyond edible. Also disappointing.
I know that there's a good restaurant in here somewhere, as others have spoken so highly of it, but I clearly hit them at an off time.
