Uh oh...not impressed. And I really wish I was!
I've heard great things about this place. I was in the mood for Indian and I was nearby so I gave it a shot.
It was a Sunday around 1pm - time for lunch - but the place was almost entirely empty. So things should have gone quickly - but service was extremely slow. It was a good 5 minutes after we sat down before we even received menus.
I checked in on Yelp to get the check-in deal - a free mango lassi drink - but when I showed the waitress the coupon and code she just seemed confused. "What? Huh? Free what? Why? Hm. Um. Ok. Just the free drink?" It felt like she thought I was trying to trick her or something.
The food took a loooong time to arrive - it's what I would expect at a sit-down restaurant in the evening for dinner. I can appreciate that it's "fine dining" and the food is made fresh to order, which is great, but given that we were the only customers there (and we all had almost exactly the same dish) it still seemed odd.
When the food arrived it was delicious, but not the most amazing I've had in Stockholm. Mukut is better in my opinion. Also, the portions were surprisingly small. The prices at Cumin Club are pretty high so I was expecting a pile of (albeit cheap) rice. But I could have eaten twice the amount of rice I received. Usually at Indian restaurants the servings are quite large, and especially for these prices I was disappointed.
And...she forgot the mango lassi! She didn't come back until we were finished with our meal so I had to remind her then. "Oh, right, the mango chutney!" Um, no, I don't want mango chutney after I've finished my meal thanks. I corrected her - mango lassi.
She brought me the drink and it was amazing. But it wasn't enough to raise my review above two stars. I adore Indian food, but Cumin Club is not a club where I want a membership. read more
