We let him know we were visiting from Mexico and San Diego and the conversation just took off from there. My boyfriend's first language is Spanish, so he was stoked to be able to speak with someone who also spoke Spanish and wasn't speaking in the dialect from Spain. We ordered the al pastor tacos (which are my favorite in Mexico) and were SO impressed by how delicious and authentic they tasted! The tortillas tasted fresh and the meat was seasoned perfectly. They even included the little slice of piña! Come to find out, they import a lot of their ingredients straight from Mexico. We reveled in the spicy salsa and the tang from the limes. It was a welcome change of pace from all the French food we had been eating all week. And washing it down with a nice mezcal was the icing on the cake. French food is amazing, don't get me wrong, but absolutely nothing beats Mexican food, in my opinion. I could eat it everyday! Add these guys are dishing up the real deal in the heart of Lyon. I have high standards, my mother lives in Mexico and I'm from NYC, so I wasn't expecting much. The meal started off well with guacamole and bean puree. While I would have enjoyed both with some jalepeno for a little kick, they were still both tasty, particularly the guacamole. The beans could use more seasoning but still good and fresh tasting. Next I had the tacos al pastor. These were the stars, well-seasoned with a delicate mole marinade and topped with a little pineapple, onion and cilantro. I asked for hot sauce and they gave me something wonderful, not very hot but just enough kick to put a smile on my face. Finding this taqueria feels a bit like home.

They could use some training on proper burrito rolling, however, as mine completely came apart as I was finishing it. I did really like the mini-meal, which was a mini burrito and a drink for 6.99. The same meal with a full-size burrito was 9.99. You can add a dessert to your full-size meal for another 3 euros. I was impressed that I heard the two employees speak French, English, and Spanish during the 45 minutes I was there. All in all, they met my expectations, and I would go back.

Let me tell you why I paid this place a visit twice in 3 days! Atmosphere/Appearance: Right among the cobblestone streets in the surrounding downtown area is this gem. It's a lil' hidden and is only distinguishable by either looking through the big windows or the lil' sign that hands right above the stone archway. The interior design carries in that older European architecture that's present right on the outside. There's lots of stone everywhere, big picture frames, a small bar at the back of the restaurant and the see-in kitchen to the left. There are only a few tables so be sure to have reservations or some good luck! Lol. Service: Stéfane (@stf_nws on Instagram )is the owner/operator/chef/bartender/everything. Lol. He was SO FREAKING COOL and so chill. Despite having to literally do everything in the restaurant, he did it with a passion, with style, with flare and with love. You could just tell he put his soul into this restaurant and into this food. Food: On both of my visits I went with their big gourmet plate.
