I recently moved to the area and was looking for a new hairdresser after having the same one for 21 years. I read the reviews and was skeptical but in March I had a good experience with Lexxy. She gave me exactly what I wanted and didn't mess up my hair. I have thick wavy hair. It took a long time for me to grow it out so I always like a slight trim to liven up the ends while maintaining my length and shape. (Later I found out this is called dusting) I wanted to come back in for the same thing before I left to study abroad and it was an extreme disappointment. When you read the reviews the bad ones talk about how rude they are. I'd describe it as entitled and ignorant. Lexxy definitely had an entitled attitude to her the 1st time but it was bearable, especially for a good cut. But this time it was another level. She wanted me to come at 5 after committing to 5:30 and I could feel she was rushed from the moment I got there. She didn't give me a real chance to explain what I wanted. I expressed I wanted a trim with dry hair because for years that's how my WAVY hair was always trimmed. I've done extensive research on wavy hair and it's better to get it trimmed dry. When I asked for this she gave a smug look and said are you sure. Then said "Okay whatever you want" not even giving time to adjust the chair. Showed me she was cutting about two inches and did that straight across when my hair was a V and U shape. When she put my hair forward I politely said "I don't like it. This isn't how my hair was, it wasn't straight across." She said "I cut it like how your hair was, I showed you want I was going to cut, your hair was just straight" I expressed how unsatisfied I was but she never apologized, not once. This salon has a "the stylist is always right" mentality. She didn't care that I was upset. She asked what I wanted to do I said "I'm scared to do anything else I don't want it to be shorter." I showed her how my hair was before and she always had excuses like "Your hair is wavy there" "You came in with it braided" "It's because we did it dry" "Have you ever thought about thinning your hair" when in reality she didn't ask enough questions or CARE to get an idea of what I wanted. (Why would I thin my hair?? I've always loved the thickness of my hair and she even expressed she wished she had thick hair. Anything to avoid admitting you're wrong right?) Given I assumed she knew how I'd want it because she did so well the time before. She's also insisting she cut it the same time last time only to admit she did the "dusting" the previous time which is a more tedious cut and not a straight cut. And STILL didn't apologize. There was a point where I even felt the need to say "I'm not arguing, I'm telling you how I feel as a client" because we kept trying to make some sort of point. Lexxy acted like she's been in the industry for decades when she hasn't even been doing this for 5 years. You're in the service industry, the client is the reason you make money!! You're young and new at this. Ask questions and keep an open mind to learning new things!!! You're a blonde specialist, not a wavy/curly hair specialist you should've been way more apologetic and polite, instead of entitled and ignorant. Getting a cut you didn't want sucks, but it's the worst when the stylist is rude. I found a curly hair specialist and made an appointment with her.

I asked on Facebook for recommendations and was told to go to Zoey @ Dirty Blondes Salon. Looked her up and LUCKY ME she had availability that same day in the evening! Got my kids aunt to babysit, and took myself for a pedicure Zoey was so so nice and sweet! Fun to yap to all while getting a nice pedi!! Went with simple black gel, and even got to sip a Mimosa. From the moment I sat in the chair, I felt like I was in the right hands. Brittany took the time to really look at my hair, explain what went wrong, and map out a plan to not just fix the color but also repair the damage. The end result?
