Not scary. Moved room to room while actors yelled and went through their scripts. Actors were good. But it was boring and disappointing.

There was no spacing out of parties while in line, and no one enforcing guests to keep their masks on and wear them properly. There is also no sanitation between parties going on in the house and are many parts of the maze that you need to touch things to feel your way through, and you just know have been touched by hundreds of people before you. The only thing I can say positive that they were doing was spacing parties out adequately within the maze giving ample room for groups to walk through without bumping into the party ahead of them. The haunted house itself was also less than satisfactory. While in line "actors" would walk around the guests but some wouldn't even be in costume. There was one person just in some dark lipstick and a wig and a raincoat who kept screaming at the crowd to "dance" and I only know she was part of the haunt because she eventually popped out to scare us while walking through the house. We also saw one of the clown actors walking through the parking lot without their clown mask. The house gave me mixed feelings. Some scenes were very decorated and looked like they took lots of time to put together while other parts it looked like all the decor had been purchased from walmart. All in all, I was definitely more scared about catching COVID here than I was of the haunted house itself.

They would scare or try to scare the people in front of us and then we would already know what was coming. It was very predictable. Definitely not worth more than $10. The actors were very fruity way too many props and costumes that were not even close to scary. I kept a straight face and didn't jump once. There are plenty of other haunted houses in the area I would definitely would not recommend this one.

Any downers I've seen in previous reviews are likely going into this with an attitude of a fortress wall, which isn't fair to this place. Sure your group influences your time, but you can easily go to the back and space out a little! This is not the haunts fault, they do a good job of scaring the front and back of the group. You've got to go to a haunted house ready to be spooked and to have fun, if you do that here, you will have an amazing time! Just saying, this place deserves way more credit & I'm disappointed at the inaccuracies of the reviews. Also this is a local small business, so huge kudos to their efforts. I've been to haunted houses all over the country and for the last 20+ years almost yearly, so take my word for it.. this place is putting in the work to make it cool for people. The scenery is insanely cool & there's so much attention to detail. The diversity and the length of the experience sold it for us. The bang for your buck is there; we were there longer than any other we've done, probably 1.5 hours with the extra haunt experience and hanging by the bonfire with drinks. So many textures, lighting, effects, animatronics, different themes, probs, actors, and even smells while you're being led through many many fields, houses, buses, warehouses etc! The actors were also scary yet didn't make me uncomfortable like others have before, they knew the line and didn't cross it. I loved how dedicated they were, some in cages or on the floor, some laying on the beams of the building, some blending in with the room or other props. We went on Halloween night & everyone we saw there had tons of fun too. Way to go, and thank you Screamin Acres! We'll see you next year.

I'm the last person who should be reviewing a haunted anything as I can't handle even the most…read moreinnocuous ghost stories enjoyed by tots (e.g. was totally freaked out by Wallace & Gromit in The Curse of the Were-Rabbit). So, the physicality of enclosures designed to terrify adults is just not something that interests me. However, I couldn't be more enthused about this bit of local flavor: Every October, a family in the sleepy town of Roselle sets up three big tents in their front yard and crafts within them a truly excellent Halloween experience for the community. We'd been noticing the tents for a while, but only started investigating them last year. I figured it was going to be the usual cutesy Halloween stuff, but no. The level of creepiness and goriness was such that I couldn't handle actually entering the tents, so I mostly looked on as my partner Wolf R. had a good time checking everything out. But even he got a little surprise at the end: While looking into the coffin in the last tent, he was spooked by a large vampire swinging down from above, and a second later, he was further startled by a person dressed in all black, including a black face mask, creeping up behind him. I'd have laughed if I wasn't so busy making sure nothing was creeping up behind me. This year I felt a bit more bold and decided to follow a whole group of little kids into the leftmost tent, themed like a haunted carnival with evil clowns. This ain't so bad, I thought, enjoying the creative clowns and even snapping a pic. And then, I don't even understand what it was, but the odd noises and spinning lights they'd set up conspired to get under my skin and I felt like I was going to totally lose it if I didn't retreat *immediately*. My god. The middle tent was the gory cannibalistic one, with zombies and body parts and -- well, I won't spoil it for you. It was so gross that I couldn't actually look at it long enough to take a picture. And this year, the last tent was themed like a haunted hotel with black lights. Nothing jumped out at my partner this time but he still loved it. As it turns out, the haunted house also promotes a good cause: They collect non-perishable food for the Bloomingdale Food Pantry. The family also accepts donations if you'd like to chip in to their haunted house efforts. I'm just hoping they'll do a set of friendly winter wondertents one of these Decembers :) Hours: According to the listing on this page (http://www.wlsam.com/calendar/default.asp?DATE=10/11/2012), they're open 6-10PM Thursdays through Sundays in October, with extended hours in the last week of October.
