Cold food - I guess there's a first for everything! Unfortunately! Given potential staff shortages amidst a severe snowstorm that evening, I can accept and understand slower dinner service. What I couldn't accept, for the prices charged, was cold food. We got the grilled octopus, beef tartare, and the burratina appetizers to start. The octopus was grilled perfectly, accompanied by a fresh, vibrant, tangy fennel and orange salad. My family loved the presentation of the beef tartare since we were able to mix in the egg yolk ourselves. And my God, the burratina was so creamy and delicious, alongside the sweet roasted beets and honey toasted pumpkin seeds. I think we would definitely recommend these apps to share for a larger party. For entrees, our table got an assortment of the lobster linguine, veal ossobuco, and the steak frites (8oz charred california cut striploin). Lobster linguine was cooked al dente with chunks of lobster scattered throughout the pasta dish. The 8oz steak was cooked to the perfect temperature - you could definitely tasted the 'char' on the steak. Not much gristle/fat so the steak was quite enjoyable. Unfortunately, the night was marred by the veal ossobuco that came out cold. When the dish came out, my brother and I were determined to dive right into the large portion. The sauce smelled aromatic and the mash potatoes looked silky smooth. However, we quickly realized the veal was still cold in the center as we took our first bite. And when I mean cold, I meant it was cold to the touch (not warm, not room temp). Each piece of veal was the same - cold. Instead of offering a new plate, our waitress asked if we would like the dish reheated (aka microwaved). That's a no for me. We returned the veal to the kitchen and got the steak frites that my mom enjoyed instead. Much better. Food aside, I felt slightly uncomfortable with our waitress. She came to our table asking if we wanted drinks more times than I can count on my hand. It was a weird pressure to order more and more alcohol. The restaurant was gracious enough to comp the veals. Would I come here again? Maybe for the apps. Maybe for the steak frites. Did I think it was slightly overpriced? Yes, but that's to be expected from a resort-area restaurant. If I'm ever in the area again though, I'll probably try some other restaurants before circling back to this one. read more

Pretty Bad. Waited over 1 hour an 20 minutes for food after ordering and after 2 polite inquiries. If that wasn't enough, once dinner finally arrived they forgot one of our plates (which they comped but I dont care) because it lead to more delays. Do not order the so called Lobster Linguine for $40, what you get is some grocery store pasta with very small piece of a lobster tail about the size of one regular shrimp. The arugula salad $19 is so basic you could make it yourself. The Twist Burger $26 was good, but not for that price. The cocktail aperitif was quite good if you dont mind waiting. Food was average but on the edge of being very good. The chef should taste the food that is being served because everything needed just a bit of something to make it really good! Came here for Happy Hour (3-6pm) in a group of 4 adults and 1 baby on a Saturday. The restaurant wasn't busy at all, so we were seated immediately. We were given a baby seat, but the washrooms do not have a changing seat. We had to go elsewhere. The Happy Hour menu is small, so we also ordered appetizers from the main menu. All drinks on the Happy Hour menu are $6, which was awesome. We ordered several dishes to share: herb frites, warm olives, hummus and naan, buttermilk chicken sliders, fried brussel sprouts, and calamari. Everything was tasty. The brussel sprouts were particularly good. If I came back again for Happy Hour, I would skip on the hummus & naan and warm olives, but definitely reorder the herb frites. I don't eat meat, but my company enjoyed the sliders. Also, our server was nice and friendly, and came around to make sure we were doing okay. Haven't been here for ages and was in collingwood for the weekend & stopped in in a Friday around 9pm. There was a DJ playing so it was loud. We didn't mind because then no One could hear us talking. Decor was cool - high ceilings, cool lighting and interesting artwork and wallpaper. The bathrooms were dated (likely original from when they opened). For a place that's supposed to be cocktail focused the cocktails seemed lacking. Gin is very popular right now and there was maybe one gin focused cocktail. Many of them seemed like they had a lot of juices and sugary additives. I had a spicy tequila one - it was pretty good. Food - I had a pear and apple salad + chicken. I have NEVER eaten at a restaurant and had an experience like this. Service was slow, waitress could not remember our order, took her notes soooo slow. Didn't refill our water. Two members of our party had hair on their plates. Food was over priced for the quality. But the worst was when we questioned the mandatory 18% tip. One member of our party asked for it to be removed from their bill. The service was just not up to quality. She was very polite but the server actually rolled her eyes at us. I could go on and on. The manager was not sympathetic at all, never apologized and did not remove the tip. The server also spread our complaint to her other tables to the point that they were questioning us. Nevermind that, but they were not handling rowdy guests well. They were up walking around without masks between tables, shouting loudly.. it was a mess. Absolutely Disgusted. I'm currently sitting in my hotel room with my 3 year old crying to me about a stomach ache. I decided to do a little digging and we brought back the apple juice we ordered to the hotel room. He had 3-4 sips of it but told me it was yucky and stopped drinking from the cup. I opened the cup to discover murky water with what I thought were seeds from fruit. Upon closer inspection, what I thought were seeds were actually fruit flies upwards to a dozen of them floating around the juice. This is NOT ok. This IS Negligence. Honestly really disappointed in the service here. After running a tab of 250$, I told the waitress that my wife and I did not enjoy our last cocktail but everything else was fine. All that the restaurant manager could offer was a 50% discount on that drink... really man? I don't think I've ever been treated so rudely as I was at this establishment last night. It's a long story, and not worth going into detail, but after some truly unbelievable exchanges with the lone waitress, we got up and left. The other parties on the patio did too, so it wasn't just us. I get that if you're alone and overworked, it can be stressful, but boy, is it ever bad business to take it out on your clients. A substantial list of martinis and yummy apps - its the perfect place to chill while drinking with company. The music is great, the service is FABULOUS, and the atmosphere is really fun and chic. The first charge was $90 around 10:03pm and another charge was put through past 11pm for $80 plus. Good thing the credit card company sends a text message each time the card is used. I called Twist to let them know that I knew we were double charged, but never got a call back from the establishment. I had to resort to letting the credit card company know it's a fraudulent unauthorized transaction so they can deal with the business directly. read more

He looked like he was 13 years old, but was pretty unflappable and was actually a great server. I ordered the pear rosemary martini. DELISH. Definitely the best of what I sampled that night. Entered Twist; we immediately went to the bar and ordered the London Classic. As soon as we'd finished the shots, girls started coming out of the woodwork. Paul and I went to the washroom to take a Team-Piss. On the way there, we noticed a 2-Set, one little (5'2") hard-body with black hair and a taller (5'8") 7.0/10 blonde. I asked them if this establishment had "a good washroom to do coke in." They both responded in such a manner that immediately confirmed they were goers. After the Team-Piss we danced with the girls for a bit. I stole the blonde's iPhone-4S, out of her back pocket, and then gave it back to her a few minutes later in order to DHV and neg her at the same time. While dancing with the little black-haired hard-body, I under-arm-turned her several times, to get her dizzy, and then passed her off to a much older guy. This only served to make her come after me even more aggressively later in the evening (women always pursue that which retreats). Then Paul and I ordered a lesser-version of the London Classic (only three vodka-shots each this time). We put the shots on a tray, which we'd 'borrowed' from the bar, and brought them over to a table. The girls followed us. They probably thought that some of the shots were for them. Unfortunately for the girls, buying them drinks would have been a strict violation of Policy #4. Paul and I finished the shots immediately. Paul noticed that there was some Vodka-residue left on the tray. He proceeded to pour it into an empty shot glass and we offered it to the blonde. I told her that she needed to drink it in order to prove that she swallowed. She hesitated but then downed the shot. Paul and I went for another washroom-debrief. We concluded that while we definitely had the upper-hand on the girls at the moment, if we continued to stay it might make us look desperate. The decision was made to play it safe and make our exit from Twist. Just before leaving however, I passed by the bar. A taller (5'8") guidette, had just received a fresh pint from the bartender (blonde hard-body in a low-cut black dress). She took a sip from it and then set it down. When we asked what was happening, they claimed that they reversed the charges on my credit card. I confirmed with my card company today that they did NOT reverse the charge. Some bad service. I tipped lightly and explained why. They made excuses for getting my second martini wrong (a duplicate of my 1st) because they have 40 plus choices. Really! Wasn't it described on my running tab... Had to ask for salad peppering and some salt from the waitress and then the manager got the pepper but had to get the salt myself.
