Avoid Verdana Howell Like the Plague. This property was originally managed by a very competent and…read moreexperienced property manager. A little over a year ago the property management changed and the new manager is nothing more than incompetent, rude, racist and bias. Before I even begin you should see how all other reviews on other sites have been removed and no recent reviews exist because of the horrible ratings since the new manager took office. The new manager at one point stole my garbage can because it was left out for more than 2 days neatly stacked near my garage door. When approached she proceed to tell me how the garbage can belonged to the management company. When confronted with that statement and lease terms she claimed it belonged to me and was left in a common area. Some other eye openers under the new manager is her bias towards good tenants. Steal my garbage can but she cant enforce toys and coolers left outside. Not to mention that there is dog feces through out the neighborhood. When confronted on the issue I was told that they were taking care of it and fining people using a DNA testing service. When asked how they were testing it when its still sitting in the grass weeks later. Well you can figure out the answer and look on her face. The bias continues. The landlord who lives on-site and works without handicap utilizes a family members handicap placard to utilize handicap spot right next to her apartment building. Additionally since they have an additional car she took it upon herself to create her own reserved spot so she doesn't have to find a spot like other paying tenants. Oh did I forget to mention she has a garage and driveway too? Now it gets even better. She will harass tenants that she dislikes or anyone that challenges her. For example I had an issue with a tenant that was smoking on the deck which prevented me from using my windows and balcony. What did she do? Nothing. I had to begin a lawsuit against my neighbor and the management company. What do they tell me? I'm correct she's violating the lease but there is nothing they can do. In the meantime the neighborhood continues to become nothing like the "Luxury Lifestyle" they claim to provide. Tenants violate the lease by hanging laundry out side, even one neighbor has had a red cooler sitting outside for over 2 months with no action from the landlord. Whats more while there are rules about glass bottles on the pool deck and visitors having to pay the landlord takes no action. Meanwhile while my mother came to visit and simply sat with me on the pool deck for less than half an hour she checked the cameras and instead of confronting me and asking me to purchase a pool pass kindly. She used the lifeguard to come over and tell me "that one of you must leave or purchase a guest pass." This was beyond the scope of the lifeguards job and completely immature and unprofessional of a property manager. I wish I could say that this was the end of my long review however this gets even more controversial when the property manager takes it upon herself to spew her personal opinions about creed, race, sexual orientation or feminism on social media related to the property which has been documented to the point that she has since made her social media accounts private. Seems to me she doesn't read the news to the likes of Travis K, or Justine S. Now the best for last. The state of New Jersey requires licensing of all property manages that show and lease any rental property in New Jersey. To date since her assistant quit because of the amount of potential lawsuits. She has continued to manage the property, show residences without any realtor license, salesperson, broker/salesperson. For any critics please feel free to check the NJDOBI database yourself. This is a property to avoid until the current manager a relieved of her duty and the management company understands that not only is she a liability but the amount of people compiling information to file a lawsuit behooves them to remove her from managing the property.

Even though I am eligible to live in a 55+ community I don't want to. I want to have neighbors with kids, young and old. I love to chat with people of all ages out walking their dogs. Smiles and waves from from the people you pass is the norm here. The office & maintenance staff take the best care of you possible. Every interaction begins with a broad genuine smile from them and an honest attempt to meet my requests. Sure they have rules to follow, but that keeps chaos at bay and creates the lovely community we have here at Verdana of Howell. Come join us and make it even better. Ps. If you are grump, you will hate this place. I'm sure you can find a place you'll be better suited.

I moved into Gillette Towers over a year ago and I have to say that I am very happy to be living in…read morea safe, clean and well maintained environment. The building is very welcoming and it feels like home. When the property manager, Melissa, showed me the apartment I said, "I want it." It had a positive vibe as well as the whole building. It is in a great location with access to stores, highways, parks and it even has an adorable dog park. It's sad that some of the residents with dogs don't abide by the rules with keeping dogs on leases or cleaning up after them. It's a shame that the property manager has to put out call blasts to remind the tenants with dogs to remind them of the rules. The management team is always on top of ANY issues with ANY concerns from the residents. They address them immediately. Unfortunately, some residents don't abide by the rules set in the contract and these are the people who write negative comments. During the last 2 snow storms, Gillette Towers did an exceptional job with cleaning the sidewalks and parking lots. It's a shame that Melissa had to send out several call blasts to the tenants to move their cars so that the lots can be cleaned. It's sad that a few tenants didn't comply and the plows had to work around them. Andy and his team were out during the blizzard during the night keeping up with the piling snow. They did a magnificent job and the best to their abilities. There was a flyer in the lobby if you needed your cars cleaned for a small fee if you weren't able to do it. It's not Andy or Tim's job to clean your personal vehicles. Andy is an amazing maintenance man. He is always friendly and kind. Andy and Melissa always greet everyone with a smile and warm pleasantries. There is no favoritism here. Anyone who has any negative words about this team are the ones who don't like RULES!!! Gillette Towers is a great place to reside. The residents are nice and the buildings are quiet. There's no loud parties, just peacefulness. I highly recommend Gillette Towers to anyone who is looking for this kind of living environment. All I can say is GIVE respect and you'll GET respect. It's a two way street. Peace and happiness to everyone.

They are not only professional and responsive, but also genuinely kind and caring people who make residents feel valued. Any time I've needed assistance, they've handled everything quickly and with such a positive attitude--it makes a huge difference. The overall atmosphere here is welcoming, peaceful, and truly feels like a community. Could hear every single thing my neighbor below me did. Heat never worked and I froze every night during the winter. AC unit had mold in it and you could smell it whenever you turned it on. Property manager would just let himself in randomly, including one time when I was taking a shower. Some units have moisture and mold issues, and I knew one guy a few units over that had to throw away all of his clothing and shoes because of the mold on them. The buildings and grounds were poorly maintained when I lived here. It was basically like living with my downstairs neighbor as I could literally hear every single thing they did, even though we had separate units. Just awful. House centipedes, large beetles and more inside the apartment constantly. Disgusting. Absolutely shameless property owners. Do not recommend

The buildings were built in the 1960's s and the brick does show it's age, but that too adds character to the living arrangement. The units are oversized, and you faintly can hear your upstairs occupants, but the space is well built and noise is not an issue. The unit, I moved into, 1-1-2021, was fully renovated and well done. The Residence Manager, has lived on the property for 26 years and takes pride in his responsibilities and workmanship and it shows. This place is a wonderful little gem, and should not be overlooked. On a separate note, the upstair occupants are very friendly and respectful and I am blessed to have them above me. I look forward to meeting more neighbors as the season gets warmer and planting flowers around my patio space.

My best advice. STAY AWAY!!! SAVE YOUR MONEY. I honestly don't even know where to start. I've been…read morecontemplating this review for a long time. The first day I moved here I hated it. Let's start at all they care about is your money: You have your base rent ( which is ridiculously high), on top of that add on $15 each car for parking with no assigned parking so if you get home late at night your not guaranteed a spot. On top of that tack on an additional approximately $150 for water, sewage, and garbage that's divided by everyone in the community no matter if you have 2 people or 4 people living there. Let's not forget the amenities. For some reason my husband wasn't on the lease they wanted me to pay $100 for an application. I laughed. So after paying ridiculous amount of money. Theres always something that happens at Avalon and THERES NO CAMERAS. If you see a cop it's no surprise anymore. Almost every other day the cops are here for many different reasons. As a matter of fact they're here now as I'm writing this at 2am when I have to be at work 8am. TONIGHT IS MY LAST STRAW. This was too close for comfort: my husband was a witness to Car theft 10 minutes after I walked in the door by my self from working a late night. Then we have Domestic violence, drug deals in day light, needles juts sitting by the entrance to the building. If I think hard I'm sure I can name plenty more. Look I get it this can happen anywhere but I pay A LOT of money to be in a safe, family friendly environment. TONIGHT I don't feel safe and I would never want to bring up a child in this environment. What's it gonna take to install cameras? The cops asked maybe if anyone had cameras outside their apartment HE LAUGHED WHEN I TOLD HIM THERE WERE NO CAMERAS AND WERE NOT ALLOWED TO INSTALL OUR OWN. I'm glad the owners, managers, and anyone else affiliated with Avalon can sleep peacefully tonight.

My fiancé & I lived here for about a year & a half. We moved in when it was brand new construction…read more It used to be a factory building years ago. We actually watched our apartment being built which was really cool. We had an OKAY experience. To let people in the building, a guest types in your apartment number & it calls the phone number you used to set it up. For example- my fiancé & I both lived there. He was away on business & I had my parents stop by. When they came, the call went to his phone while he was out of the country & there was nothing we could do about it. He just had to let them in. The pool rules are SO WEIRD. You have bands for entry but can't have guests. Hours are strange. No music allowed. Basically no fun allowed lol There is storage underneath the building but the amount of space you get is ridiculous. Don't bother try to store your Christmas tree down there because it won't fit. You can store your bike though, it kind of just hangs on the walls. There are carts available for residents to use to bring things to & from your apartment. There are only 3/4 for 2 entrances & you're supposed to bring them down back to the door when you're done but no one ever does. Imagine going to the grocery store, coming home to get a cart & there are none, so you grab as many as you can, get all the way up to your door & see a cart someone left in the hallway- ANNOYING. People do that all the time. When you get the keys you get an actual key & a fob. The fob is what you scan in order to get into the building, you use the key to unlock & lock your door. They also give you ONE key for the mailbox. Washer & dryer in unit- HATED both. The dryer always stopped when it shouldn't have. We got the Kodiak apartment design, which we liked because there was a little nook which we thought would be perfect for a sectional couch. We were told that the nook runs through the entire building because that's where the old factory's elevator was- pretty cool! The bedroom closet we had was sad. It was barely a closet. We had zero space for our clothes. The #1 reason we couldn't stay there, we outgrew it before we even moved in. VERY nice game room & community area on the first floor near the lobby. That's where we had our housewarming party- we had 70 people come!!! I doubt they let anyone have parties there after that LOL FYI The building is along train tracks & the trains are LOUD & sometimes run in the middle of the night & early morning.

Remember that saying, fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me?…read more That is a really good rule to govern your decision making at this property. Viewing this development? - Shame on The Lofts at Helmetta for drawing you in with their marketing B.S. Signed a lease here? - Shame on you for being so stupid! For the avoidance of doubt, if you move here, you are at the mercy of the Property Manager. To be clear, this Property Manager constructively dismisses any colleague who is smart and has an ounce of common sense or calls the Property Manager out on their lies. Two staff have left so far and the only one that is left is the one that they are able to put the fear of God into (or they are just plain stupid for staying). Here's a few updates for you since my first review: 1) The landlord does not care about you. You are nothing but a check for their shoddy construction efforts. 2). First Amendment rights are not welcome here. If you write a negative review (like here on Yelp!), the Property Manager will be sure to consult with Counsel and see if you can be evicted (which you cannot). Heck they will even send you a Cease and Desist notice based on trumped up allegations, that under a deposition at Civil Trial would be shot down because the allegations are B.S. and the accusers are friends and employees of the landlord. 3). If you withhold rent because of their shoddy construction and the fact that the unit has habitability issues, you will be sued. How dare you stand up to this landlord for their poor workmanship. 4). You offer to pay said rent just to get rid of the headache? They will limit your options in an effort to get you evicted. 5) Contractors will deal and imbibe in Schedule I drugs and then return to work. (This likely explains some of the construction issues). Does no one here care about Health and Safety? 6). Have kids? Don't move here. Contractors will whistle at minors and the Property Manager doesn't give a damn. You will be advised that Construction have been notified - doesn't help in the event that your child is kidnapped and killed. Seriously, do we know who these people are that the developer allows on site, particularly when they don't care about your complaints and rock up to the job looking like they were picked up off Rt 18 that same morning. 7). Friends of the developer will be up in your business. They know who they are and they makes no apologies for the fact that they are "a friend of the developer". B*tch, sit your ass down, no one cares, least me and if you open your rat mouth again, the community are likely going to verbally put you in your place. 8). Liar Liar, Pants on Fire. That is what our Property Manager is called. Don't address them by their name because Liar is exactly what they are. Anything to save their ass and protect their job. According to their version of events, I withheld rent because of a cracked sink and a couple of other cosmetic issues. No. I withheld rent because of your cheap construction. Issues with the air conditioning, the electrics, the overall quality of construction, the problem with the mantle getting so hot it would likely combust and a laundry list of other issues - you know, stuff you would never tolerate yourself. Guess what? If you had done your job, we would NOT be here right now, but we are because you cannot do your job. I moved to suburbia for a quiet life, to take my foot off the gas and chill out. Unfortunately, I ended up with a cowboy landlord who has henchmen to make your life a misery. Come at me bro? Do not think that I won't fight back! Your reputation as a landlord proceeds you and the community knows your true colors.
