Jennifer Borelli is such a kind and creative teacher with her students. She has a focus on learning through the arts, which allows students to express themselves in a number of creative outlets. My children have come home with such beautiful projects! I would have to say that my favorite part of my kids' experiences have been the art openings that are held twice a year. We have a potluck which feels like one big family, and we get to see all of the art our little learners have produced. Another favorite is the field trip to Benson High where the kids get to team up with a high school pottery student to create their own works of art. Though she is focused on learning through art, the kids are still provided with plenty of opportunity to burn off energy through activities in the gymnasium. My kids have come home singing favorite songs and talking about the stories they read. The class sizes are small and diverse, which was wonderful for my kids as this was their first experience with care outside of our home. Our family feel so fortunate to have found A is for Art. It has been such an amazing experience for my kids. I would encourage parents to go visit and consider this wonderful preschool experience for their own children!!

We haven't attended for several years so maybe things have changed, but for a place that is…read moresupposedly Montessori and has Montessori-certified teachers, they were pretty bad at the philosophy. We kept our kid there cause I felt like it was a safe place and I don't think they were mean or anything. But the entire philosophy is "Follow the child." That doesn't mean let them do whatever they want, but it does mean encourage and follow their interests and their level of development. These people were constantly focused on what level our kid was "supposed" to be at and acted concerned about her development, saying she was acting too young for her age, but then when we were concerned about needing medical examination or intervention they never responded. I'm not expecting them to diagnose my kid, but if you truly think there is a concern, then recommend a check-up or something. (Spoiler alert, it's been 2 years since then and she's just fine). And instead of encouraging whatever her interests were or letting her start slow, they would try to rush her into things and then get upset when she didn't show interest, like she was the problem for "refusing" to perform. (That's the term they used! For a BABY!) Anyway, I felt like they were nice to the kids despite all that, and they had nice activities, and since they were sticklers for rule following I felt like it was a safe place. Which is why they get 3 stars. But since then our kids have been attending another Montessori school that is much more attuned to the children's interests and tries to work on their level of development rather than pushing to work on whatever the teacher wants. Just pointing that out so that you don't think that our experience here is what regular Montessori is all about. It's actually the exact opposite.

I was teacher's assistant at MCA before I moved states to pursue a career as an actuary. I was able to work with all age levels from infant to 6 year olds and I loved working with each kid and watching them excited to learn and develop their skills. Not only was Ingrid a great mentor to me, teaching me the philosophy of Montessori and how to best coach a child through and activity, but the entire staff were also kind and energetic with me and the students. I've kept in touch with Ingrid since I left and she's been a great resource with advice and support. This is a great place to work with wonderful students and parents that attend.

We attended with two children over 2 years before relocating across the country and feel immensely grateful for the time we had at MAOWO. Our children are more than ready for the next year of school thanks to the institution provided. We will have memories to last years from our experience and recommend this school to anyone in the west Omaha area looking for the right school.

I have sent my 4 kids to 3 different Montessori schools over the last 11 years. Our first…read moreexperience (with a different Montessori school) was incredible but that school was bought out and the family first community and vibe quickly dissipated. After that, we were lucky enough to come across Montessori Academy of West Omaha. First and foremost, I have always felt as though each individual family is treated not only as family (as cliche as that sounds,) but the school understands each family's unique wants and needs. I am a teacher and wanted my kids home with me over the summer months, this is one of the only Montessori schools in Omaha that not only allows that, but encourages it because "what's best for your family is best for us!" even though that translates to a loss in tuition for the school. I have never once thought of Montessori Academy of West Omaha as a school that only sees my kids as a tuition bill, which I cannot say the same for the other school we attended. This school truly embodies the Montessori philosophy of "follow the child." Our daughter looks forward to school, her friends, and being challenged where she is at individually. The small class sizes at Montessori Academy of West Omaha allow for my daughter to receive direct, specialized instruction. We all know kids are not the same, not all kids are interested in the same things, this school has proven they can nurture each child in growing academically, socially, and emotionally. With my experience in Montessori for the past 10 years, trust me when I say, you will NOT be disappointed in sending your child(ren) to this one-of-a-kind preschool.

No one came to the door. Since it was still before 1p, I rang the bell. Eventually an elderly blonde lady came to the door. She looked at me and seem to be perturbed. She asked "Can I help you!" I said "Yes, I am looking to get some information about your school." Without offering to let me pass the door, she said with an attitude "You can find all information online." Then, she turned her back and closed the door. ...Wow. Here I am, a potentially new parent, and this is how you treat me. Maybe it was because I am black.
