I was with a friend who lives on Mount Desert Island, but since I didn't have time to go out to Acadia National Park, he settled on showing me this place. I guess you Maine folk must be used to Maine scenery, but I was completely astonished by this park. 680 acres of pristine forest, beautiful and majestic. The leaves were starting to turn, and everywhere I looked, I saw lush greenery lighting up with the warm colors of fall. We did a loop on the incredible Orono Bog Boardwalk then strolled through another network of peaceful, picturesque trails. I'm a reluctant hiker in rather pathetic physical condition, and on this particular morning, I was fresh off a redeye from California. But with the clean autumn air and the flat, easy trails, I never even ran out of breath. I think grandparents and small children could cover a lot of ground here without any trouble. I know Bangor City Forest has "City" in its name, but it made this city mouse think of how old-timey doctors would prescribe country air as a cure for various illnesses. I was sorry I only had one day in Maine. A week of nature walks would have been quite restorative.

With drinks and food prices looking cheap as well based off the menu including some cheap beers. Besides bowling there is a small arcade and a pool table for some more fun. Recommend for anyone from friends, to couples, to families. Good local business with great prices.

There's no doubt this is a popular spot for the week of July 4th. This is my second year coming…read morehere and not a single thing has changed between the two visits. That's honestly the beauty of it. It's run by a family of siblings and their nephew and they are all extremely hardworking and friendly folks. Let me preface by saying it's a smallish campground that offers plugs for RV's to set up shop as well as a handful of one floor ranch-style cabins that contain the bare minimum. Not to say that's a bad thing-- besides, the point of a camp getaway is to feel unplugged and enjoy the experience/nature around! The RV's are set up pretty close next to eachother and as for the week of the 4th, there's a lot of families in soccer chairs/grilling/playing games and such all day outside. Across the board: - Extremely warm and inviting hospitality from Susan (one of the main kitchen workers who also runs this place) and her family - Solid view and access to Sebec Lake - Communal basketball court, cornhole, and bathrooms in the center of the marina but all of these are up on a semi slanted hill and in a patchy and rocky area of grass. But that adds to the fun-- bringing you back to old school days. Nothing glamorous but definitely could be worse - There's a hill you can walk down to see the dock and while doing so you'll pass a dirt volleyball court tucked away - There's a restaurant to order lunch and dinner, as well as a little office that serves as the check-in place and mini gift shop of trinkets if you will The restaurant: - The food is decent. Nothing fancy but also a good option if you don't feel like running to the store. There's really no other "takeout" food options nearby so it's either you cook your own food at your place along Sebec Lake or you go by the marina for food (whether you're staying here or not) - There was 20 of us (yes 20) and Susan was so friendly and ON TOP OF IT with our food and drink orders. The food was definitely better than we expected and it came out in a reasonable time, especially given there was 20 of us eating at once (although I'd suggest you call ahead for something like pizzas since those take more time here) - See menu photos for pricing. It can be pricey but again, there's nothing else really around (i.e. we ordered a fisherman's platter and it was $45) - Plenty of tables and chairs to comfortably eat and hangout - Solid selection of drinks and alcoholic beverages for sale in their fridge - Overall it's very open and has lots of natural light in the restaurant Our cabin stay (which might not be the case for all the other cabins but it could be): - It's definitely got everything you need to get by - Shower, toilet, sink, mirror, and towels provided. Although, the bathroom has no vent so you either have to leave the bathroom door open or open the window to air it out which wasn't too effective from a timing perspective but it did the job for us! - 3 bedrooms supplied with a full sized bed, a dresser, nightstand, and lamp - there is no A/C and it was 90° almost every day this week so it felt like a sauna but particularly at night it was really hot trying to sleep so be sure to bring multiple fans!! - Kitchen utensils, plates, glass cups, fridge, sink, old school TV, couches, dining table provided as well All in all it's a campsite that has a lot going for it in Sebec, for a cheap cost if you're looking to experience a getaway/go camping in an authentic fashion. :)

There is a large grassy area with a soccer field complete with goals. There is an abundance of playground equipment Thais is up to date, clean, well maintained, and offers a set for toddlers, and a separate one for bigger kids. The one downside is a lack of trees or any natural beauty as this is located on a residential neighborhood next to a school so it was just sort of purpose built with no aesthetics in mind. There also is so walking trail along the perimeter either. Plenty of off street parking as well as picnic tables. Well done city of Old Town Maine!!

We went with our friend to have her RV looked at. This facility was actually recommended by a…read morefacility she called that worked on RVs, so this commercial vehicle center must have a good reputation. She needed a tire repaired or replaced and had a problem with her not being able to fill her fuel tank without it constantly shutting off. (Which I had researched and found it could be any number of things and maybe hard to pin down.) Unfortunately the tire turned out to be totally flat, so we stopped at a local auto repair shop, and luckily they had time to replace it. We continued on and Steve at Darlings said that despite our losing the service slot, they should be able to look at the fuel issue with a potential wait involved. We wended through the slight maze of service buildings in the Darlings campus and dropped it off. She was told there was a minimum charge of $200, which may seem like a lot to some, but they probably need to guard against people balking at paying their bill after they spend an hour or more looking and testing for a periodic or hard to find problem. (I worked in auto dealerships in my younger days). Their friendly courtesy driver dropped us at the nearby Denny's, where we hoped for slow service so we could eat and wait out the appointment. As it turned out, the work was finished just as we were done, so the driver came and gave us a ride back. (It was close enough to walk, but one of us has a mobility issue and needed the ride.) They found the problem -- a bent fuel line -- so they shortened the line and did what was needed to support it to prevent a recurrence down the road. It cost just $50 over the flat fee he had quoted, and we left and tried it out by filling the tank! So she knows where to go with future problems with the RV. Thanks to the whole crew there.

What a great team. They had cars when everyone else didn't. They were super friendly and beyond…read morewelcoming. They even dropped me at the airport and mailed me an item I left in the car. This is customer service at its finest and they actually felt like instant friends as it was all so relaxed.
