By the time my prawns finally come out, my friend's food was all cold. They were apologetic and offered free ice cream which we turned down. Service was mediocre at best. I had to wave down a waiter at least 4 -5 times before getting someone to take my order of wine. We were in the quiet little room on the side. So I don't think I will be back.

Very much the centre for commerce and finance, it is also the Capital of anything in Vogue, where new fads and fashions are embraced in this ancient country called China. Food is a way to express the way people live and the way people "want" to live! Hence the invention of Chinese Influenced Western Cooking. Very much like the Yoshoku Cooking in Japan started in the Meiji Period. In China, it is mostly influenced by the influx of White Russians refugees during and after the Revolution. They bring not only their own culture but also their cuisine, some of the more wealthy "refugees" would still hire maids and cooks after their escape, as they still wish to maintain their ways of living before the revolution in Russia. These Cooks later became fully versed in the Russian Cuisine and soon they put in their own signature to make it their own. At Sunning, their influence of the West came from France, Russia and other European cooking methods. They also pride themselves in baking their own bread fresh everyday. Lunch that day was with my family in Hong Kong, we all grew up having this type of western dishes, and its a way of getting back to our childhood times. My Rack of Lamb was done perfectly, very tender and juicy, the doneness perfect, the sauce was a bit on the sweet side tho. The Chicken Caesar unlike anything we see in N. America, it is their own interpretation, chicken breast was poached not grilled, thus its more tender and moist, being a Caesar Salad it's size is not doing justice to the dish. Yes, I understand it is a starter and not a meal size, so if you are on a diet, this will be a very good dish to have! Service is old school, very attentive and warm, all the servers are over 50 and they all seemed to have been there forever! Sunning is still is and hopefully will still be there for a long time, as new generations will learn the history of their grandparents here of how food is being served in the old days of Shanghai and Hong Kong!

The location once in the hotel isn't straightforward; we needed the lobby hotel staff to guide us to the restaurant. The views from the restaurant is amazing, similar to what you can see from the Peak with how high up the building it is. Some issues we had with service included the fact that some of the staff did not seem to know Cantonese, which was difficult when some of my party members did not speak English well. One other issue was that the food took an incredibly long time to come out. Our reservation was at 12:30, and we had thought 2 hours should be good enough to get through lunch as we had plans by 2:30-3pm, but dessert came out at 2:30 and it made us late. For the actual food, I enjoyed most of the French style flavors, the fresh seafood, the colorful schemes. Appetizers included small bites of unique tasting biscuits and bread. I loved the oyster presentation, it was colorful and just a bit sweet tasting, a lot different from the oysters around the West Coast. The crab was fresh and delicious as well, though like most Michellin restaurants I just wish there was more of it. They are known for the grilled giant prawn, which has the entire body already peeled, but the entire head is intact which is where all the juice is at, to be soaked up with some bread. The puree didn't match completely with the prawn flavor, but the prawn itself was very good. The wagyu was not bad, lightly salted/peppered and comes with a mushroom puree and mushroom on the side which does go well together. I wouldn't say it's the number one best wagyu I've ever had, but it's solid. One or two dishes can be a bit more disappointing than the others. For example the duck breast, as well as the dessert course with truffles, was not very memorable. I'm glad to have had this experience with a nice bright, energetic but classy vibe, but there were things I wish were better including a serving time of over 2 hours. They are known for the prawns, but really can't go wrong with most seafood, there may be 1-2 foods that might not hit the spot, and for the price of it (around $300 USD/person) compared to other 1 star Michellin's, I'm not sure how soon I would think of coming back.

The restaurant is modern and so is the food. It is a fusion of Asian and other influences including South American and European. Kommune has a nice menu of cocktails and I recommend trying them. My favorite hands down was the Chinese Ink. This cocktail was a delicious as it was beautiful, the mix of berries and fruit along with nicely mixed alcohol made this far too easy to drink. We all shared dinner and it started with Buffalo Cauliflower, flash fried and tossed in spicy buffalo sauce, these were spicy and delicious. The kale salad came next and was a delicious​ mix of kale, brussels sprouts and quinoa. Next came the ribs. IPA BBQ baby back ribs. Now, I'm American and we like our ribs and I have to say, these wouldn't pass muster in an American rib joint or even a chain restaurant but they were good enough. Honestly,​ I didn't expect them to be fall off the bone, 12 hour smoked ribs. Next was the Salmon and it was perfectly cooked and very tasty. Finally, the herb roasted chicken. Chicken is such a staple and is generally​ either good or just average, but not here. The herb roasted chicken was the standout of the meal we ate. The vibe is funky, cool and the place was very full while I was there. I will say, if you are tall watch your head walking around or you'll find the lights with the top of your head. Service is good but not super fast, you wait a long time between courses and drinks for someone to get back to you and for that reason I'm taking away a star, it was slow enough that I was constantly aware of the lack of service. This is a very good place to eat and I'd definitely go again, it wasn't exactly what I expected to find in Hong Kong but I'm glad I​ did.

We came here on a Tuesday night celebrating my friend's birthday. It was such an excellent dining experience! First thing I've got to say is the service here is above and beyond. From the head chef @willy_cuisinier, the staffs that took care of us, everyone was so nice and caring. The food was amazing too. We both ordered the ten courses from the omakase menu and the wine pairing. My favorite dishes are the Uni Lobster, Sakana and all the desserts!!! Basically every dish has the components I look for. And all the ingredients taste fresh. Plus the platings are gorgeous too every dish is so unique and creative. ------------------------------------ 1st course - Japanese Tomato 4/5 It's very refreshing starter. It comes with the granita and the jelly on the bottom. All of the flavors worked so well with the tomato. 2nd course - Caviar 4/5 Japanese Yam, marusho rice vinegar, Caviar. It was very nice indeed. An incredible food experience! Definitely come hungry and expect to not need to eat anything else the rest of the day. As you enter the restaurant you're greeted with a glass of champagne, or wine. Alcohol at this brunch is "free-flowing". meaning when you get up to grab more food, your drink will be filled by the time you return. And you can spend hours trying everything in the the dessert and cheese rooms. The best thing about Whisk, is that there's always some surprise for the guests. They've done all kinds of things over the years: I've witnessed them serve a giant chocolate stiletto for dessert. I've watched the head chef prepare the freshest sashimi I've ever had; I watched him prep and cut a tuna caught the day before (see photo). And I also witnessed them take slices of Wagyu beef and blowtorch them over a stone for a unique bringing-you-to-tears flavor(see video). It's unique experiences like this that keep me coming back. I would say that the interior (and cute exterior) is very typical to what you'd see in the hip, trendy LA Asian American cafés - pretty quotes on the wall, cute decorations, dim lighting. This is definitely a good date place - and you can roam the mall after! I came with my family during their afternoon teatime, thinking that there would be some specials offered around 2 PM. I think they had a lunchtime special, so even at 2 PM, the restaurant was packed with customers and guests waiting for a seat. After you're seated at a table, you have to go to the front counter to order your food. You're given a number, and when the food is ready the waiter/waitress will serve the food to your table. Since it's Hong Kong and you can split dishes without anybody really caring, we decided to order fewer items to be shared amongst ourselves and eat elsewhere if we were still hungry. Porcini rice with pork and kimchi in stone pot: $46 HKD and with an additional $12 HKD, we were able to add on a puff pastry soup. I have to say that the rice was really good. Very similar to the Chinese sausage in a stone pot, except this rice had flavoring and ingredients to it. Along with the pork belly and kimchi - flavoring of everything was on point, and it definitely filled us up. Cream of mushroom puff pastry soup: When the waitress brought our soup to us, one of them was slightly burnt, and without us even commenting, she said that she was going to ask the chef to remake a new one for us. I don't think we would have really minded, but that was really nice of her. The soup is definitely something you must try! Rich flavoring of mushroom in a creamy broth. The puff pastry was light and flaky, with really good flavor. As you break into the puff pastry, some of it drops into the soup so you get a crispy texture as you drink the creamy soup. I really liked it. Spaghetti Bolognese with puff pastry soup: This set lunch combination was $56 HKD or roughly $8 USD. I thought it was fairly priced, since it came with the puff pastry soup. The spaghetti wasn't too unique. Tasted very similar to how my mom cooks her spaghetti, except it was slightly sweeter. I probably wouldn't recommend ordering this dish if you're looking for something unique or different to try. Hot tea and hot milk tea - nothing special. The hot milk tea was pretty strong, but not as smooth as some of the other places I've tried. tl;dr - Overall, a really cute place to go for lunch or brunch. They also serve waffles and breakfast items. I really like the interior design of the place. The workers are super nice and friendly. Highly recommend if you're looking for a nice place for brunch!

Didn't wait long for the dessert to serve, taking one bite of it and 'wooooo' was my reaction after my first bite. The ice cream is wrapped up with flour tortillas making it a nice combination, and you can mixed it with raspberry to enjoy it even more. At the price of HK$78, I find it to be pricey but what do you expect when enjoying a meal in this kind of restaurant? As for the service, it was ok. The waitress serving us understood and spoke English well. Overall, I enjoyed my dessert and my glass of white wine. I may return to try its main course in the near future.

They have an open kitchen, the team is busy but the way of working was very positive to watch, no shouting and the team members are smiling and seem to enjoy the work. The service team is friendly and takes also attention on the needs of the guest - a rare thing in Hing Kong. I had a Seasonal Salad and a suckling pig. Both dishes have been prepared perfectly and I loved each bite. The restaurant has a good wine selection, obviously focuses on wines from Portugal. The wine I selected as good, markup would a around 2,5 to the retail price, which is normal in Hong Kong. If you like food where quality of the food the ingredients are the star, this is a place to go.

Service was thankfully quick, and we were seated upstairs - thankfully a table was available as they were quite booked for the night despite being a weekday! For starters, we had their chilled jellyfish - my guilty pleasure. While the size looked larger than a normal portion in the States, the bottom was mostly cucumber slices, so don't get your hopes up! Of course, it tasted fresh, crisp, and perfectly seasoned! Their pork trotters and chicken feet pot were dry and sticky but provided the perfect amount of snacking for cartilage, tendons, and pig skin - iykyk! The che che vegetable pot with tong / ong choy? That shrimp paste and bold seasoning had a good mix of salty, sweet, and spicy. Squid Oil Stick - ever had squid inside an oil stick? Nope, never had I, but this was a nice snack, too. Definitely a unique dish you won't find easily in the States! Aside form this, we also had a honey-marinated eel and another salted egg seafood, both of which had the most unique flavors. I don't particularly enjoy eel but quickly downed a few slices in minutes. Salted egg? Also not my favorite, but I'd be lying if I said it lasted more than a minute after hitting my bowl! Service had always been quick, and other tables around also ordered a variety of dishes. This restaurant was totally unique. 1) The kitchen is outside, in the street. 2) The bathrooms were outside, at the side of the restaurant; you have to enter from the alleyway! 3) They serve fish intestines?! So it was quite an experience. Onto the dishes: 1) fish intestines- I believe it was cooked with eggs and fried cruller. It was served in a casserole dish. It was tasty, to an extend. Very fishy in flavor, and soft in texture. I would eat it again, but I would not voluntarily order it. 2) deep fried fish - love this. It was delicious and the fish had a bit of bones in it so it was definitely pieces of fish as opposed to just fillets. 3) fried tofu - I love tofu and this dish was top notch in my opinion. Each of the tofu cubes had a crispy yet thin layer of fried skin. The tofu was soft and silky, with almost the flavor of tofu dessert. Simple dish done right. 4)fried oysters - what's not to love about oysters? 5)fish soup - flavorful and spicy since there was a lot of black pepper seasoning. Lots of clams and such in the soup. 6) soy sauce chicken - this was the first dish we ordered and the last dish we received. You have to order this as soon as you sit down because it is made on the spot. You won't get a pre made chicken that has been hanging in the window all day long. The chicken was very tender and the soy sauce was very flavorful, more sweet than salty since the it was sweetened with brown sugar. Overall, it was a very good meal. The dining room was full even thought we sat down around 9pm for a very late dinner. Lots of cars were double parked outside, so it seems like this restaurant is a popular locate late hangout/dinner spot.
