Windmill Homes

Buyer beware. If a zero-star rating were possible, I would use it. Please read this before signing…read moreanything with Windmill Homes, specifically Greenspire in Windsor. We purchased a $1M home from this builder, and it became one of the most stressful and costly experiences we've had in any home purchase. What went wrong: Significant quality issues hidden behind otherwise seemingly attractive finishes (including air vents that were still factory sealed) Multiple items left unfinished at closing despite prior assurances (see photos for reference--these only scratch the surface of the issues encountered) Work that raises serious concerns about how it passed final inspection After closing: Communication declined immediately after closing. Concerns were dismissed, and interactions with the new owner, Lisa, and the general contractor, Jordan, were unprofessional and dismissive when we requested items be addressed. There was a clear lack of accountability and follow-through. The general contractor did not demonstrate experience consistent with professional residential construction standards and stated directly to us that his background was as a mechanic, not in homebuilding. In addition, contracted tradespeople behaved inappropriately on our property in front of our child after the sale; despite photo and video evidence, our concerns were dismissed, with Lisa stating they "stand behind their trades" rather than addressing the behavior. Important context: We have built and renovated multiple homes and understand construction standards. The level of craftsmanship and lack of completion in this home was well below industry expectations and anything we have previously experienced. Resolution: We involved attorneys; however, the builder's contract is structured in a way that heavily favors the builder, resulting in additional time and expense without resolution. We were also asked to sign an NDA without a meaningful path to resolution, which raised serious concerns. Not just our experience: We later learned that many other neighbors and homeowners in the Greenspire neighborhood reported similar issues. Some described ongoing distress and difficulty resolving concerns, while others noted they were unable to meaningfully negotiate during the "custom" build process after placing deposits. Outcome: We invested thousands in additional funds to correct deficiencies and were ultimately able to sell the home to move on. We recognize many buyers may not have that option. Bottom line: Do not rely solely on appearances or assurances--even written commitments, such as post-close completion lists, were not fulfilled in our case. We moved out seven months after moving in, and the home still had outstanding items. Ensure all work is independently inspected, thoroughly documented, and fully resolved prior to closing.

BTW, before purchasing/building a new home by this company and for many reasons I strongly suggest gathering feedback directly from current home owners, especially recent ones so to make the best and most informed decision for you, your family, and your hard earned money. Very disappointed.

They should be ashamed of themselves for teaching their younger family members how to rip people off. The place we rented in Loveland was really run down and dirty. We spent 2 weeks cleaning it before we could move it. We latterly gave them over a hundred pictures proving how bad it was. They promised they would repair the deck as it was dangerously falling apart. Of course they never did. We had to move because the Owners wanted to sell. We took very good care of the place. When we moved out it was really clean. We hired a cleaning company to come in and go over it again just to be sure. We also hired a carpet cleaning company and a landscape company to come mow. They cut a tree down right before we moved out leaving wood all over the yard. They took $700 of our deposit for a huge dumpster. I went by after we moved out and they have a very nice deck out back. When we moved out they would not come meet with us to do an inspection. They said the Owners would do the inspection. Our deposit was $1,800. They gave us back $600. Of course they took so long to send our deposit back that we needed the money so we didn't go to court. My advise is to read the reviews of all property management companies before renting from them and stay away from this one. Loretta G.

She was able to meet our needs for budget as well as our needs for additional area and set up for our mother in law and our growing family. She Was really able to listen to us, and come up with options that would work for us. when we would look at homes i knew they would meet much of our criteria. She stayed right by our side the whole time to walk us through home buying. she was conscious and respectful of our time and would even look at homes for us before she showed them to make sure they would be a good fit. Nicole treated us like family and had our best interests in mind. If you want someone who communicates well, Supports you through the process and really makes home buying a positive experience, then Nicole Jewell with The Group is the way to go.
