First, the staff is what makes it such a special place. They treat the members like family and they really care. The physical facility is beautiful and well cared for. The outdoor areas are welcoming and the landscaping is groomed to perfection. Maintenance responds to any request literally within minutes (they are permanently on-site). The care-giving staff is exemplary. Response to the call bell is always less than a minute. I worked in long-term care for 15 years as an NP, and I can attest that this level of care and attention is not common. The peace of mind in knowing that Mom is safe is worth every penny. When she had a serious emergency on the Independent Living side, the staff responded immediately and appropriately activated EMS. I'll be forever grateful that they were there. The only slightly negative thing I can say is that the Dining Room has struggled a bit over the past couple of years. The food is fine, but initially it was stellar. Mom gets a little bored with it. The important thing is that she is eating more nutritiously than she would be if she were on her own. Ridgecrest is wonderful facility, one big family. I'm grateful Mom is there.

During Covid everything went down hill and it never got any better. The food is terrible, the care from Live Long is horrible and the staff is definitely lacking. I regret the decision to leave my mom there as long as we did.

The entireties of the staff - from the sales, to skilled nursing, to the dining room servers were welcoming, obliging, and happy (which is not always the case in senior facilities!) The residents we encountered were equally cheerful! My father decided on that 1st visit that "this was the place for him", and fortunately there was an apartment that would be available to him in a week's time. Unfortunately, as is often the case with elderly parents, we experienced a medical "emergency" with my Dad several days before his scheduled move-in. The amazing team at Abbotswood moved mountains to get him in-house, and under their expert Living Well @ Home skilled nursing care...an answer to our prayer as we could not give him the care he needed. The team at Abbotswood is enthusiastic, respectful, responsive and incredibly professional! The grounds are beautiful! The interiors are updated and bright! The restaurants serve wonderful food, and are accommodating for each resident's particular needs! I doubt you will find anything in the Triad that is even close to the gem that Abbotswood is!

We have friends that recently did that, and they are very happy with their choice. Our main consideration is to spare our children the responsibility of caring for us when (not if) we are not able to do it for ourselves. Our real estate agent, Zachary Roberts had toured it already, and he came with us. I wasn't sure what to expect when I walked through the front doors of Harmony at Greensboro. Marian Ragsdale, their Director of Sales and Marketing, met us with a warm welcome. Then what I immediately saw was a bright, cozy gathering room filled with people enjoying one another. All around on the walls I saw beautiful artwork, tastefully incorporated with fine furnishings. It was "swanky." We walked past a dining room where the tables were covered with white tablecloths and set for company. Marian showed us several residential 2-bedroom apartments. They were bright and beautiful. I had seen the floor plans, but they didn't do them justice. Let me just say that if you are considering whether to tour a community, do it for sure. Standing in the middle of each room, I could easily feel myself living there. If that were not enough, the services that they provide - fine dining service, housecleaning, light-bulb changing - anything you are now doing at home they do for you. Lastly, I thought it would feel like hotel living, but I say it's more like living in a neighborhood. I wanted to come home and pack!
