The food we had was outstanding. I had the sour rye soup served in a bread bowl. A hearty tangy warm a hug for your stomach on a cold winter's day. It is a meal in itself. My wife had pierogies. The selection is definitely not on par with stores up in Warsaw. Still, you can find a lot of essential stuff there: jasmine rice, rice noodles, various sauces, curry paste, Asian spices etc. Their refrigerators stock some nice frozen seafood. On my first visit I bought a kilo of shrimp and a kilo of calamari for 35 zł and 25 zł--an absolute steal compared to what one has to pay at Alma or Smaki Świata. They also sell vegetable though the selection is meager. A large quantity of lemon grass is available. If that's what you need, you know where to go. The friendly guy at the store also showed me a few taro roots, for which I couldn't readily think of a recipe.

It's just outside of the Old Town city walls near the Barbican in the Kleparz district. I didn't see as many tourists venturing out that way. Although, there were people visiting the Grunwald Statue. It's a great spot to visit when looking for more of the local flavor. I was totally impressed with the selection of beautiful berries and mushroom varieties. The gooseberries looked especially nice. Everything was very well-presented. It's an open air market that is covered. It's actually quite shady as you walk through it. There are ATMs outside in case you need to pay in cash, but many vendors except cashless payments. I really love that it has more of an International mix of products. There are Italian, Greek, Ukranian, and Spanish vendors as well as Polish. The freshly dilled whole pickles in the wooden barrel were very enticing as well as the bakeries. We really just stopped to get a bottle of water on our way to a resraurant nearby. They really do have it all here. I'd shop here weekly if I lived in Kraków. They are open daily with extended hours on the weekdays (6am to 6pm). It's totally worth a visit.

It is conveniently located near the main square and there is an outdoor market in the Jewish Quarter right outside. The decor is very rustic and retro, so totally fits the Polish mood.
