This place acts as a pub at night, but a breakfast joint during the day. I was here for breakfast and this place was easily one of the best breakfast I've had in Europe so far! It is conveniently located near the main square and there is an outdoor market in the Jewish Quarter right outside. The decor is very rustic and retro, so totally fits the Polish mood. Their breakfast was very fresh, even their eggs tastes so much better than the ones I've had in the U.S. Some of the comments down below mentioned that the servers here are rude. I've had quite the opposite experience. Everyone here was very helpful and someone even swung by to check up on us. This gourmet restaurant offers a wonderful respite from traditional food from the area where potatoes, cabbage and pork are king. I can only speak on behalf of the bar side of house and not restaurant side. Order at bar, cash (or card) for carry, and hipster culture clash ambience as there is a bar, restaurant, and basement for live music. Wanted to stop in a highly recommended place for a drink while in the Jewish District. The bartending skills didn't disappoint. Menu has some nice signature cocktails and they have a seasonal menu as well, such as Hot beer, Mulled wine, etc. Definitely worth the experience if you're in the area. After jumping off the plane just after lunch we headed straight into the Jewish Quarter for a spot of lunch. Not wanting anything huge I spotted this place on Yelp and the humous and street bites was exactly what we wanted. After a short 5 minute walk thanks to google maps we got there and snagged the last table. I started with an apple beer which was tasty and ordered the humous platter for my main. The wait wasn't too long and the cafe was just a nice amount of busy from groups to others on their own which was a nice mixture. Our food shortly arrived with the humous served with flat bread and falafel with a side salad and some salsa. The whole dish was amazing and just the right size to keep us going till dinner. My Dad ordered the veggie burrito and that too looked good! All washed down with some beer it was a good start to our first day in Poland! We also decided to return another lunch time on a particularly cold and snowy day and sat in the pub which is adjoint. Shared the hummus board as a starter and had the superfood salad as my main for lunch. The variety of hummus' were incredibly flavorful and innovative. Date and jalapeño hummus...??? Yes please! The superfood salad was the perfect way to have just a little more hummus and an even tastier meal! The combination of salty and sweet was just what I needed. This restaurant is right near the main square. There is a lot of space in this restaurant and so it was accommodating for our group. A great place to chill and enjoy drinks and meals. I had the fish and chips and they were great. The group thoroughly enjoyed their meals and beers. The staff was great and their English was good. Just classic. My favorite thing about this place is the rustic decor and candle lit tables, and if you venture into the back, you can walk thru a wardrobe to access the designated smoking area. [kinda like the closest thing you'll get to Narnia]. In the likely event that there's no room inside, you can sit in the small patio area in the front. Don't fret about the cold, there's strong heaters directly above you. Note, you must order all food and drinks from the bar and the food will later be brought to your table. They have a limited amount of polish items on the menu, but their other 'foreign' options are solid. My personal favorite is the fish n' chips, but the burgers are good too. Regarding drinks, I have mixed feelings about the hot cider, the first time I got it, it was amazinggg - imagine pieces of apples and cinnamon galore. But the following two times I've ordered it, it was strictly cider with no surprises. Biggest plus: they serve food until about 11 or midnight. read more

We are here in Krakow on a stop along our European travels. We decided to come to this highly-rated spot for a late lunch/early dinner after a day of exploring the sights. We ordered beers to enjoy while perusing the menu. The bar staff was extremely rude and treated us with open disdain. When we asked questions about the menu and tried to customize our order, the treatment was no better, so we finished our beers and took our business (and 100 pln) down the street where the service was fantastic and the food delicious. One of the oldest bars in Kazimierz, and one that no doubt was recommended by the guidebook about Krakow. It is one of those places however, that doesn't disappoint. Alchemia is aptly named so due to its interiors, which include a lot of candles, a lot of oddly shaped glass containers, one stuffed alligator (yes), and a room that you enter through a closet. It's a legendary bar, and a must stop on any "bania" tour. Try a shot of cold cherry vodka with a lot of fresh lemon juice. Or, alternatively, have a pint of Tyskie, which here, comes straight from a large, copper tank, as opposed to a regular, steel keg, giving it a slightly different taste. Na zdrowie! read more

Popped in to alchemia for a few drinks. I had heard a lot about this place. The stone floor is very nice and worn and gives you a good feeling that many feet have been before you. The cocktails seemed very good and we ordered a G&T and White Russian. The G&T was refreshing and White Russian was very well made. It was far to hot inside and no table space on the street so we stood. I imagine during the summer the small rooms are quite cosy and a good place to go. It used to be an amazing place until they changed the furniture. Such a shame. They used to have antique tables outside so you could people-watch. They had old movie theater seats inside. It had a charm. Been living here for 3 years, and I'm not the only one who misses the old look. Now, just another cafe with plastic chairs and tables probably purchased from Ikea or the mall. They play hip-hop, rock and indie, but rather real classics and independent artists. They serve beer, vodka, and tadah! Fritz Cola, a variety of unique-tasting soft drinks from Hamburg, Germany. Something which is a bit unusual for the European traveller, but pretty common in Krakow: They only have unisex loos. Can't comment on the food, but stumbled our way into here on a night out. Had a very dark and heavy stout, great stuff. Finding cider in Poland can be difficult, but they had a few available. Decor was nice and dingy. Candles and dark wood. Upmarket dive is the look upstairs. Follow the spiral staircase down and find the dance room with loud music; From upstairs you wouldn't know there was a party downstairs. Great for whatever kind of night you fancy. Great selection of drinks. Toilets were surprisingly clean! Will be returning next time. read more
