I've eaten here twice. Both times has been pretty good. I like the ambiance and the service had been great both times. The food is excellent but not the best I've had. I thought the salmon could have been cooked a little better, it was a tad dry. The potatoes and asparagus were great. Honestly, I'd rather see less potatoes and more asparagus but that's just personal preference. They have gluten free options but no gluten free bread, which is a bummer for this caliber restaurant. They did bring out some carrots, celery, and I think daikon. I preferred the daikon over the other two. There are many places in Krakow to try but this place will stay on my "will go back" list. read more

I really enjoyed my recent visit to Krakow, and this was one of my favorite meals during the visit. My colleague and I needed to go during off ours due to meetings, but I felt that we really received special attention rather than the leftovers. The rabbit croquettes and braised lamb entree were probably the two best meat-based plates that I had in Poland. They had an excellent old fashioned and good beer options, as well. My last comment is that I appreciated the server's regular attention. The food was very well prepared. I went with a party of five who ordered everything from the burger to the pork tenderloin. I ordered the salmon which was cooked to perfection. This place is perfectly situated for some people watching and old town vibes while you have dinner. We started with a bottle of the house white, which was crisp and quite tasty for just the house one. But also perhaps what one should expect from a pricey restaurant. We had a mix of the appetizers. The herring, tartare, and a seasonal special of asparagus. The tartare came unmixed, which was very interesting, and our waitress was very nice in offering to show us how to do it, but we did manage =] She was overall very attentive and always made sure our wine glasses were full! The tartare was by far the best. The herring was good too. I loved the white asparagus. It was served with hollandaise and salmon. From the description, I assumed it was a baked salmon, but instead it was cold, smoked salmon. It was still tasty tho! We finished the dinner with white chocolate mousse and strawberries in a rhubarb compote, and it was absolutely delicious. read more

Julia was an excellent server and extremely knowledgeable. I started with the delicious fish soup. The small is a grand portion. Great recommendation, as they've held the recipe for over 15 years. I moved to the duck breast following. The pumpkin purée and positive seasoning really amplified the dish I'd go back!! read more

Right on the square this restaurant is conveniently located! The interior is gorgeous with beautiful ceilings which are mirrored and look endless. The service was brilliant with a funny waitress. The food was awesome plank steak and my partner ordered beef cheeks. It was well cooked and had great sides. The food is more expensive than in other restaurants in Krakow however you probably pay for the location and the quality of the food. I found Szara by reading the Michelin guide and then following up via Yelp. Szara is located directly on the square and a short walk from our hotel. I was visiting in late November (off tourist season), and the restaurant was filled with locals. I was seated next to the window - which was a great view of evening people watching. The interior is beautiful and welcoming. I asked for recommendations and was pretty excited that what is considered pricey was in reality extremely reasonable for the US Dollar. I ordered a Swedish potato that was recommend that came with roe as well duck served with potato latke's and fresh figs and plums. Highly recommend for Krakow! read more

Szara is one of the pricier more elegant restaurants in Krakow, although I like it because it actually is very good value for beautifully cooked steak (planksteak). It's unusual being a Swedish restaurant in Poland. The outside seating is very pleasant in summer although far from quiet on the main square, all the tables were continually busy but the service could not be faulted. I started with the reindeer tartare which as a novelty was interesting and well prepared with good accompaniments but I would probably not bother in future, venison tastes better cooked. The main was the planksteak (cooked to perfection, like a French bleu) but I was a bit jealous of my colleague's duck which looked fantastic. read more

Nice location at the main square Rynek Glowny in the old town of Krakow. We enjoyed good white wine and caesar salad in an great environment with street musicians and sunshine. Recommended! :-) At the square you could also visit the Gothic church of St. Mary's Basilica which is beautiful. read more

In no small part thanks to my dashing and debonair waiter Patrick, this was arguably my most favorite restaurant in all of southern Poland. The service is classy and old world, white linen table clothes and napkins, well appointed handsome waiters who are multilingual and can take a variety of orders by memory and a winsome nod of the head - what discipline! The wine list is impeccable and could be easily mirrored in Lyon or any tony Parisian arrondisemont and the food - well - it's outstanding. I had a marvelous leg of goose that will go down in my personal culinary memory as one of the most succulent pieces of well prepared poultry. My asparagus soup was almost most memorable. I can't possibly wait to return to Krakow to meet new friends and share new memories; but mostly to say "hi" to the fun professional staff at Szara and enjoy another sumptuous meal. read more

The beautiful decor and those small final touches makes the dining experience at Szara a little more proper and out of the ordinary compared to some other restaurants on Rynek. I had a delicious and filling caesar salad here and crusty bread with olive oil, sea salt and other seasonings. Food is well made, calm atmosphere and the service was not bad either. I like this bar there are always tables free and the bar staff are helpful and responsive. They have a good selection of drinks including cocktails and serve the most delicious cherry wodka. SZARA is our highlight during our annual Christmas / New Year visit to Krakow. We always begin our visit, spend with them and closing out our last day before we return to New York. we look forward all year to our meals that never seem to disappoint us. New Years Eve dinner format is unusual. most restaurants have a fixed menu / in SZARA you can order A'la Carte menu which gives a freedom to go outside to experience the crowd celebrating new years on the square. It is very fun to watch and be part of people (total strangers) wishing happy new year like they have been your friend for years. Going back to Shara - The service is very friendly & accommodating special requests. Over the years on our visit to SZARA they start to feel like family. We are very picky about our food and where we dine. Since, as wrote above we looking forward to out meals and Szara every year is a proof that this place is highly recommended by us. Stopped in on a rather cold mid-week afternoon after touring the city. It was a nice respite to relax and rejuvenate, even though it was expensive and touristy. Got the salmon tartare and the raraka, which was a large, crispy potato pancake; combined two for a nice lunch. Also ordered the mussels in white wine sauce. The mussels were small and the white bread that came with it to sop up the broth was simply awful. Ended with two expensive cognacs to finish off the Euro meal. read more
