I pointed out a few extra things that needed fixing to ensure a good job of the painting (wall plugs to be removed, holes to be filled, wall paper to be smoothed) and he agreed to take care of all of that. He then came around on the Friday and turned my ugly maroon room (yuck!) into a beautiful pale blue (ahhh!). When I took a closer look at his work I was very impressed with the attention to detail. Very smooth walls and a perfect coat of paint. Absolutely no paint (or any other mess) on the carpet! Chatting to him he obviously knows what he's talking about. I would highly recommend Man That's Handy for any jobs you need done around the house. He seemed capable of handling everything from fixing a dripping tap to building an entire house.

I met Dene for the first time when he came out and did the quote and he told me that he was very experienced in this line of work as he had been doing it since 1987! This reassured me that I had made the right decision for choosing this company to do my work. When Dene turned up, he started work straight away without no fussing and got on and did the job. I knew that what I was asking would be a challenge as I had asked Dene to paint my walls and ceilings and I also had a lot of old wood work which needed to be doing as well. I was surprised that he managed to get the woodwork from a yellow color to a bright white color, I thought that would have been impossible! He phoned me through a traders site and told me work is so thin on the line that he would work for…read more£75 day and £60 intro. I asked for a quote to board a loft and after he started he then went up to see it and said it may have asbestos. Asked for more money.He did not even check the loft himself before taking the project on. I told him another company had been up and he took their word. Did not used plastic sheets on floor which i told him I insisted on. Painted with chemical paint after me stipulating many times I was using chemical free paint and he was not to paint at all until I got it and a proper written quote was given. Said he would do a removal and changed his mind. Wanted more money from me to hire a van. Complained about local cafes. Told him not to enter the property without me so he told the neighbour he was going in to collect his tools- she did not see him inside the house and he left the toilet area filthy. He was paid £550, gave me an incorrect invoice and owes me most. I have the proof and 3 different witnesses. He will try to defend himself but please do not listen to him and take the risk. Please contact Cowboy Builders if you've also had issues. It is now easy to see why his work is thin on the ground. Trading Standards are now involved as they have received all the evidence and they have said I will get a full refund when I take him to court. He will also have to pay all costs as well including what was paid to get asbestos report, the cost of new grab rails and shower screens which he took down and disposed of without my permission. He used his own paint without my permission and painted doors and a door frame. He was asked for a quote for decorating using MY OWN ECO PAINT and I have had to pay to get his cheap chemical paint removed. There is much more. He has ignored requests to settle. The loft hatch cannot be used as the beams are in the way and will cost me too much to fix so he checked nothing. The asbestos report came back and there was none. Tony Skanes is a con man.
