We arrived around 3:05 PM on Tuesday, 9/22/26. All of the signs indicated that the store was OPEN, but unfortunately, the door was locked. We knocked, called and left a voicemail, and waited outside for about 15 minutes, but no one came. It would have been helpful to have a notice posted if the store needed to close unexpectedly, or at least to have the OPEN sign turned off so customers would know. We had plans to continue on to Telluride and Black Canyon, and since we're leaving Montrose at 7:00 AM tomorrow, we weren't able to wait any longer or come back another day. We left disappointed that we didn't get the chance to try Ray's Jerky and purchase some for our trip.

The one person behind the counter was a sweet, young girl who was very nice. She didn't know the difference between the ice cream cones; we wanted the cake cones but we got the sugar cones. Oh well. I love the decorative cow style of the place and it looked very festive and fun. I'd love to try their milk but they only sold pasteurized homogenized milk and I wanted raw milk. I did pick up some horseradish cheddar cheese and smoked Gouda. I'm sorry to say the cheddar cheese had a texture like feta cheese although the flavor was good. Didn't try their Gouda yet. I'd like to explore more the next time I'm in the area. It's kind of far to drive from Denver to Montrose. ;-)
