    Ballet classroom

Both my kids are in this tutu location and they love it here, super cute location and the ballet instructor are super nice!

    Warm-ups!

My 3-year-old daughter and I absolutely love this school! I did a lot of research into ballet schools and this one was my pick because it's the most developmentally appropriate for toddlers and preschoolers. Ballet positions and moves are taught through imitating animals, talking about food, and story telling, and props are used to keep little hands from flailing about. My daughter loves the aesthetic of this school. Everything is pretty and pastel (even the hand soap in the bathroom is pink!) and her teacher is always well-presented in dance attire. She also loves the warm up butterfly dance and practices that the most at home!

A 7th Birthday Party at the Tutu school. Best.Day.Ever!

Best. Day. Ever! We had our twin daughters' 7th birthday at the Tutu school last weekend and I can't even begin to say enough about it. It was AWESOME! Every last detail was so perfectly thought out. From the lesson, to the story time (personalized to feature our daughters' names!), to the cupcakes and the games. It was all so beautiful. We loved the instructor and hostess, Miss Niro. She was a sweet, soft spoken, lovely lady and was so warm and kind to all the girls. I just can't wait to tell all of my friends. When we got home, my girls couldn't wait to do a little performance and share the ballet steps they learned in the class. Bravo Tutu School. Brilliant job!

I wanted to strengthen my leg muscles so that I could return to playing tennis. As someone who is over 80 yrs old, I was somewhat skeptical that weight training could make a big difference in my athletic abilities but one year and half later of training with Maria and I believe I'm more physically fit than I was in my 40's. Everything is easier (i.e., walking up stairs, carrying heavy loads, keeping up with grandkids ,etc.) To say my quality of life has improved due to my work with Maria is an understatement, Maria is a consummate professional. She explains exercises clearly, pays attention to form and keeps sessions motivating and enjoyable. One day when I was lifting weights on my own at the gym, a gentleman commented, "I see that you are experienced with weight lifting, Your form is perfect. You must have been doing this for many years." I give Maria full credit for teaching me the right (safe) way to lift. I occasionally have a few sore muscles but recovery is quick after a workout. Probably the most important thing I've learned from Maria is to believe in myself. Sometimes she tries a new exercise that I think is impossible for me to achieve, let alone master. Her confidence is unwavering and has a profound effect on my mental attitude. I see few women my age working out with weights at the Bay Club. I hope this review will encourage someone who is considering personal training to contact Maria. You will be amazed at what you can accomplish with her expert guidance.

On my tour, the employee was so nice, but the facility itself was a big turn off. Bay Club is a catch all gym, from kids and teens running in the halls, to older ladies that never sweat but wear their teeny outfits while they hit on young guys, to rude people sweating all over equipment and not wiping it down after. The vibe gave me the icks. The women's locker room was dirty, with wet towels and trash scattered about. The members don't keep the area clean, and the staff isn't quick enough to clean up these gross items left strewn about. Needless to say, I didn't join Bay Club.

I made a point f taking her yoga class from a linked class and started a new yoga schedule, taking it at least 3's a week. My body transformed. I was so amazed that I developed "yoga butt." I am now stronger than ever. Julia has the amazing ability to combine her deep knowledge of a few schools of yoga, her deep understanding of kinesthetics, anatomy, physiology, and yoga poses that she brilliantly even sometimes invents. I have been in dance class since I was four. I have taken a ton of yoga classes all over the bay area and online. I will not take a class if it is not taught by Julia. One must attend class on a regular basis and once in class, just listen quietly and Julia will take you on the most exquisite yoga journey that will transform your body in an hour and a half. Come. Try it out. Have fun. Get stronger. CrossFit Marin has morning, afternoon and evening classes…read moreto suit any schedule, and there are plenty of concurrent classes so that parents with kids of any age can work out at the same time. It's the best gig in town. Our first experience with CrossFit Marin was at their weekly Sunday afternoon classes at Town Park in Corte Madera. We saw a couple of athletic guys setting up a tumbling and gymnastics course next to the playground, and signed our two boys (3 and 5) up for a drop-in gymnastics class. The boys had fun, learned some new moves, and worked off a Sunday-morning-worth of energy. Andres de la Rosa and Roger Harrell told us about their program and invited us to check out their gym over at Tamal Plaza. A couple of weeks later, I signed the boys up for gymnastics once a week. While I watched those first few classes, it quickly became clear that the CrossFit Marin team are patient, talented and positive teachers for both the littlest tumblers (whose attention often wanders) and those kids who have had more experience (who may need more focus and harder challenges). And as we spent more time at the gym, I saw how our boys' natural flexibility and strength were being enhanced by balance work, skill training and fun games during class. The prices are very reasonable, so we quickly went from once a week to twice a week for the boys, and I started chatting with the trainers (thanks, Bill!) about their adult CrossFit program. Now comes the personal part: I have a lousy body image. I was a plump unathletic little kid, and as an adult have always been more inclined to play Scrabble than racquetball, if you get my meaning. So it took a couple of weeks of watching at the gym before I was willing to open myself up to trying an adult CrossFit class. And you know what? It turns out I'm *great* at it! Sure, I can't really do many pushups yet, and I can't yet do a chinup, but for the first time I can actually see myself getting there one day. I'm learning ways to work toward those goals. I'm getting stronger every week. The focus at CrossFit Marin is on strength and overall conditioning, so the workouts are really varied -- we've done skill work on everything from deadlifts and pullups to juggling and balance beam, so I feel like I'm always making progress. They can scale a workout for any skill level. Can't do a pullup? Keep one foot supported! Can do 50 pullups? Wear a weight vest! They can even work around past injuries so that you can come to the gym even if you have, say, a bad back or a chronic knee condition. If you think you're strong, you'll get stronger, and if you think you aren't fit, you'll discover strengths you didn't know you had. There is always something new to work toward, and they welcome whatever you bring to the table (or the floor in this case). Bottom line? I am working harder and feeling better about myself than I have in years, and I can do it at the same time as the kids are doing their classes. So they see me being active, and they're well-cared-for and busy while I'm focusing on my own health and well-being. Roger, Andres and the rest of the CrossFit Marin team are talented, open-minded, positive and committed to teaching all ages and skill levels. Their gym promotes community, hard work and good habits, but without the posturing or 'sales' mentality of some other local facilities. They love what they do -- helping people to grow stronger and more physically confident -- and it shows.

I was completely unprepared for what would unfold during my time at the Hypnotherapy Training…read moreInstitute (HTI). When I enrolled, I was already practicing some hypnotherapy as an adjunct to my EFT counseling practice, and I wanted to take my knowledge a little deeper. After attending the info session, I signed up and waited six months, knowing the institute had international renown. I assumed I'd get some solid professional training out of it. Little did I know what awaited me. After just a few weekends in the local Weekend Program, it became clear why HTI consistently shows up in the top three recommended programs--and why many consider it the very best place to train. 1. Breadth and Depth of Training What sets HTI apart is its truly integrative orientation. Students are exposed to a wide range of schools of thought (e.g., Ericksonian, transpersonal, and more) as well as diverse domains of practice (e.g., medical hypnosis, stress resilience, deep emotional clearing, resolving inner conflicts, hypnosis for problem-solving). Like any serious graduate-level study, it's up to each student to dig deeper into particular approaches of interest--but HTI provided quality resources at every step of the way. More importantly, the curriculum emphasizes practice. We had abundant supervised sessions and received thoughtful, detailed feedback. Few training programs in hypnotherapy can say the same. This emphasis on practical application--alongside the solid theoretical foundation--taught me to listen deeply, attune to the client, and meet them exactly where they are. 2. Confidence in Practice Because HTI grounds students in principles rather than rigid techniques, I developed the freedom and intuition to use whatever works best for each client. The training is structured in such a way that I've naturally found my way into my own unique style or practice. I now feel 100% confident walking into sessions with clients presenting novel or complex issues, knowing I can skillfully navigate and facilitate meaningful outcomes: blindfold me, spin me around, and drop me in an unfamiliar place with a new client and a novel issue, and I am confident that I can facillitate an amazing process for them. Before HTI, I was preoccupied with "doing it right." Now, that anxiety has been replaced by a simple guiding question: What would make this even more excellent and helpful for my client? What a beneficial and meaningful shift for clients to have a therapist that has her eyes on that! This shift is priceless. It allowed me to see hypnotherapy as much an art as it is a science, and it gave me the confidence to trust my skills in any situation. 3. Faculty and Mentorship The depth of the curriculum reflects the hearts and minds of those who teach it. Each instructor has a unique style, and I've learned something invaluable from every one of them. I truly feel I stand on the shoulders of giants. I found the faculty to be very personable and professional, both. It would be hard to overstate how profound Randal's (the founder's) presence is--his passion, his dedication to the work, and his unflagging commitment to his students. He taught me to stand for each client I serve, to bring love and integrity to the work, and to listen so deeply that the next step in the session becomes self-evident. 4. Transformative Impact In my professional life, I strive for excellence and integrity. I found HTI to be a shining example of both. For perspective: my Master's degree in transformative psychology and learning cost me about $60,000. HTI tuition was a fraction of that--and I would value it at $80,000 or more, given the training and personal development it offers. In truth, HTI developed me far more than graduate school. The impact was not just professional but deeply personal. Because I was continually being hypnotized and developed by both staff and peers, my own life transformed in ways I can barely put into words. Without exaggeration, I now divide my life into "Before HTI" and "After HTI." 5. Balanced Notes If I had to offer a critique, it would be small things: Randal's preference for chairs in rows instead of circles, or wishing lunch breaks were a bit longer. That's it! *** If you're considering, do it. May you find the courage to take the leap into this exquisite world beyond your imagination. For me, HTI was one of the best decisions of my life.

I trained at the Hypnotherapy Training Institute and had an outstanding experience. The instructors…read moreare excellent, and the training is truly client-centered, coming from the heart while still being rigorous, practical, and grounded in real-world application. The in-person experience and curriculum are what set HTI apart. You're trained to think critically and respond to each client's needs in real time, not just apply techniques mechanically. The result is a program that consistently develops some of the best hypnotherapists in the world. Beyond the professional training, I met incredible people and experienced personal growth I never would have expected. This program set off both my career and my life in powerful ways. If you're committed to becoming an effective hypnotherapist, or even your own healing, I can't recommend it highly enough.
