I am not one to buy items on vacation but I couldn't' resist this steal drum. I think I found anew passion and hobby. The owner of the shop was as genuine, knowledgeable, and kind as they come. She was not a pushy salesperson and offered expertise on everything in the store -even the building, which was built by slaves over 150 years ago. They are handing out face masks at the door and upon entering you feel the mold attacking your lungs. They do have a ventilation machine at the front but it pumps in warm air, making the store an incubator for mold and germs! Home Depot did the right thing and destroyed the majority of their inventory for health and safety reasons after the hurricanes. This Kmart seems to be trying to sell their damaged and moldy inventory despite those factors. The hubby and I made the mistake of thinking we could restock on vitamins here and the bottles we saw were grimy and moldy. Almost all aisles were gross and the shelving had dirt and mold on them. The store was terrible before the hurricanes and it just became even more so afterwards. I don't even know of why they had so many employees with mops, none of them were even mopping! You have an overpriced appliance store delivering the worlds worst customer service on the first floor (thanks crazy landlord lady for the terrible referral), and there is a pharmacy, convenience store, and health foods store on the first floor that you could actually buy everything they sell for less at Pricesmart, Kmart or Plaza Extra nearby. The gas station here also creates a lot of parking chaos which is exacerbated by the gas attendant that falls asleep or disappears during their shift, so it takes 25% longer to get your gas than normal and you'll watch the cars pile up and spill onto the sidewalk. The sketch factor during the evening time at this shopping complex is going full force here. I've had a few eyelash appointments after work at Azul and there are some shady characters hanging around. Its best to not come here when it gets dark. If you don't need tires, your hair or eyelashes done, avoid if possible. #St.Thoams #USVI

The booze prices are really affordable, although I noticed they fluctuated almost daily. Also, if you buy 3 or more bottles they will provide you with a complimentary cardboard carrying box. Our party ended up buying 12 bottles of rum, which fit into two of the carrying boxes. We also purchased two small rolls of bubble wrap to wrap each bottle in and then packed the boxes carefully for the long flight home. They managed to make it through two plane changes without breaking AND there is some sort of deal where some of the airlines will not charge you an extra baggage fee for the box. We flew on American Airlines and if you fly AA from St. Thomas or St. Croix to the states, you can have one of these boxes placed in checked luggage without paying the extra baggage fee of $25. We were pretty uncertain as to if this was really going to happen, but it did! Compared to the prices for Cruzan back home, ti was a great deal. I'm wishing I would have brought myself a six pack of Cruzan, too! Ce'st la vie! Anyway, back to KMart, it's your standard Kmart, a great place to grab those things you forgot. The prices are a little higher than at home, but not horrible and they have all the same stuff you're used to seeing, plus great deals on bathing suits! Another thing is that they have free wi-fi here so you see TONS of people - I think from the cruise ships sitting in the parking lot with their laptops and msart phones getting their Internet fiend on. Convenient location, tight parking, overall handy. There is a second location further away in the TuTu area.

Smoking causes cancer so I'd never go into a store like that and I'm not knocking Payless down, I ventured in there a few days ago and they are surprisingly customer service oriented. The majority of this complex is taken up by the various department offices of the water and power utility company (WAPA) and that really sucks if you have to go there. I've had to come here to try to pay my bill from August but that won't be ready until the 1st or 2nd week of December, and to find that out there's a line out the door! 1firstbank is here with an ATM drive thru that causes a back up of cars in the parking lot on a daily basis so the security guard stationed at the corner starts yelling at everyone. Parking is just chaos here ( mainly due to this drive thru). It's sometimes too hard to find a spot, and if you park at Havensight instead and walk over to use the 1firstbank ATM inside, you will be out faster than that drive thru. On the entertainment front there is a dated fake gambling center. I say fake because everything is computerized- you're better off trying your luck on your cruise ship with real tables. The highlight of this complex is the restaurant Brix. (Read my 5 star review for that place). It's a hip, trendy and modern restaurant that offers an awesome array of appetizers, entrees and drinks. I hope they add more exciting venues like Brix in the future! If you're coming on a cruise ship you can skip the rest of this place and focus on Haven sight mall or better yet yacht haven grande. #St.Thomas #USVI

We spent over an hour trying to find one thing we liked about it, but can't really agree we found one. I'll be frank, if you are someone who has the aching to buy massive amounts of jewelry. You have just found your own paradise. For the rest of us, it's a spider web of illusions. I thought: "Wow! That looks cool, lets park and walk around all those shops!" No way I could have known that 95% of the shops were literally 1 of 2 categories. Jewelry store or liquor store. This is not an exaggeration. You literally walk down the side walks and it's the same things over and over again. The other 5% are souvenir shops, which were the only reason this place got 2 stars. Those are very useful on trips. This plaza needs food shops, snack shops, ice cream shops, maybe an arcade, clothing stores, or even a mini food court would be nice. It has a ton of potential.

Most are pretty small and cramped but Paradise Mix is one of the larger ones. Absolutely stuffed with all kinds of trinkets, some very nice and but most of the items are appropriately tacky enough to make good souvenir gifts. The store is a bit difficult to move around in because it does have so many tacky trinkets jammed inside, but that just makes it easier to find the particular tacky trinket you are looking for. The prices are remarkable inexpensive for some of the stuff, especially if you find a tacky trinket or crummy t-shirt marked down. Since it is a fairly large store the crummy t-shirts come in a wide selection of sizes so you can find something that fits even after numerous trips to the boofay on the cruise ship. A souvenir shop that sells lots of cheap, tacky and unusual stuff along with some more expensive items. Just the type of place I look for while in vacation.
