COST -- This bus is a FREE shuttle service from the several different locations around the Grand Canyon South Rim. As someone who studied Economics in University, the bus service is really not "free" because you have to pay a national park entrance fee. Lucky for me, I visited the Grand Canyon National Park on National Public Lands day so my admission into the park was free. BUS SCHEDULE -- The bus arrives every 10-15 minutes during the day. NAVIGATION -- First, when you arrive at the Grand Canyon, drive your car to one of the many designated parking spots. Upon parking your car, you will see signs for where to catch the shuttle. The shuttle takes you to several points throughout the Grand Canyon. My friend and I visited the South Kaibab Trail and the shuttle bus took us right to the entrance of the trailhead. We got on the Orange route bus. The ride was smooth and took just under 10 minutes from our starting point. I can't imagine if there were no shuttle buses to drive visitors around because as you know, the Grand Canyon is HUGE. But thank goodness for this free shuttle. If you're lost when you arrive or don't know where a shuttle bus is, there are people around willing to help or I recommend you visit the visitor's center. **** - 155 total reviews in 2019 - 364 total overall Yelp reviews - Reviewed on 14 December 2019

I would totally come back and would have the pleasure of riding in the shuttle having him as our driver! He allowed us to snap shots of the sceneries on the way in the shuttle because no one can stop. But those little things matter when its your first or second time coming to the grand canyon. Wonderful experience with him. He's writing a book too! I look forward in seeing it come out! Thanks JJ!

We booked shuttles from the North Rim Trailhead and Jacob Lake Inn in January for our Rim 2 Rim…read moretrip. In March, the company decided to change the shuttle schedule to times that unfortunately didn't work for us. They promised to honor the original times since that's what our basis for booking was, but when the time came, actually just forced us onto the new shuttle schedule for one of the two shuttles and then just completely never showed up for the second shuttle (9:16 am at Jacob Lake), making us wait over 3 hours past our original pickup time and causing us to nearly miss our flights out of PHX (thankfully I was able to drive 85 mph to PHX). NEVER ONCE did they call us to let us know they weren't going to be coming for the 9:16 am pickup so we just sat waiting outside of our hotel for hours, during which time we called them several times and they assured us the shuttle was on the way (a lie). Finally when they did arrive, the general manager, Herbie Loveland, was extremely short, rude and condescending with us... which made no sense since we were left waiting because of THEIR error. We called and asked to speak to the manager several times and for a refund and were told the manager wasn't in and they were going to "wait to see what happened" before deciding on a refund; management still has yet to call us back. This company has a monopoly on Transcanyon transportation so not sure there are really other options, but just be extra cautious with planning in case they decide to leave you stranded. Also, the general manager is a huge jerk and I hope whoever's in charge sees this -- customer service isn't his forte. Update: they refunded the cost of our shuttle (which is great!), but still stand by the review above and the comments about the GM/his general lack of professionalism and customer service skills.

For a mind boggling flight over the Grand Canyon, Monuments Valley, and Lake Powell in a six seat…read moreplane you have to try Westwind. Our pilot was a college age guy earning his stripes to fly the big boys - and so he was young and enthusiastic. We flew directly over the canyon for thirty miles or so, over to and around Monuments for about an hour, over Lake Powell for about 45 minutes. We then stopped at Page Airport at Lake Powell for about 20 minutes for fuel and a break. Then it was back over the Canyon for another 1/2 hour on the way home. The canyon was incredible from above, and just when we were totally awed we flew to Monuments for an amazing view of the spires, necks and mesas rising out of the desert. Then Lake Powell - which if you have never seen I very highly recommend. The lake is made from damming the upper canyons and so is a network of deep blue fingers twisting and turning across a hundred square miles of desert. Wow - what a great show. I had no idea what we were in for. There were four of us and the pilot, so it was very personalized. The canyon can be very windy, so for us we had a number of E-Ticket type drops and bumps. At one point we all hit our heads on the roof of the plane. So, it's not for the squeamish - but if you are up for a truly unique experience then give them a try.

We stayed at The Grand Hotel during a trip to the Grand Canyon, and overall... it was fine…read more The biggest selling point is the location. You're right near the park, which makes early mornings and late returns a lot easier. When you're dealing with crowds and trying to catch sunrise or sunset, that convenience matters. The hotel itself is comfortable enough. The room was clean, beds were decent, and everything worked the way it should. Nothing stood out in a bad way, but nothing really stood out in a great way either. It felt a little dated in spots, like it's been maintained but not really refreshed. Common areas had a nice lodge-style feel at first glance, but once you settle in, you start noticing it's more surface-level than immersive. Kind of like it's trying to capture that rustic Grand Canyon vibe without fully getting there. Service was okay. Not bad, not particularly memorable. Check-in was smooth, staff were polite, but there wasn't much beyond that. For the price, I think that's where it lands in the middle. You're paying for proximity more than experience, and once you accept that, it makes more sense. Three stars feels right. It did the job, we slept well, and it made visiting the canyon easy. Just don't go in expecting something special and you'll be perfectly satisfied.

We did the Buck Wild Hummer Grand Canyon tour and Grand Hotel was one of the hotels listed where they pick you up which was a plus. There are also a ton of restaurants, gift shops, the IMAX, and more all walking distance from this hotel. What I didn't like is that we couldn't experience the restaurant or saloon in the hotel because they opened so late. The hotels steakhouse also wasn't recommended. So we never experienced anything in the hotel other than our room lol. But that wasn't as great either because the tv didn't work. It only got maybe 3 channels and they were all blurry and stretched out. I felt like I was watching one of my grandmothers old tvs from the 80s.

If you haven't visited the Grand Canyon before, I highly recommend booking this bike tour. Also, mid-October was the perfect time to visit. The weather was so comfortable --- not too hot and not too cold. The tour starts and ends at the Bright Angel Bicycles rental shop inside the Grand Canyon. If you're visiting for the tour, make sure to notify the park entrance --- we heard you can get a park entrance pass at a discounted rate. Unfortunately, we didn't know that until already in the park. Overall, this bike ride is very easy. There is 1 spot towards the end that has a few small up hill climbs but it's overall a pretty easy bike ride. My sister at 20-weeks pregnant was able to do the ride no problem. The information shared by our guide was so great! I don't think you'd get the same information from a self-guided tour which is one of the biggest reasons I'd recommend this bike tour. Our guide was very friendly, very kind, and very informative. Unfortunately, we had 2 couples in our group that loved to interrupt her, talk off topic, and fact check her so that was unfortunate. If you're looking for a tour around the Grand Canyon, book this one!
