Things have changed again. We ate on the deck and as always it was beautiful. The kids had fajitas that were very good and I had the pasta with vegetables and added shrimp. The portions were great, the food was fresh, and the shrimp were very good. They added a good amount of shrimp for $6.00. I was expecting about six shrimp but there were a lot more Than that. Our waiter was attentive and the service was good. We had a nice meal and a nice time. read more

We just went for our anniversary. Food was great. They were out of the ribeye so I had the braised short rib. Cooked and seasoned perfectly. The cheesecake was a great way to finish the meal. If you want to sit on the deck, you have to order from their overpriced menu. You can't order from the regular bar menu. They don't want their rich customers sitting with poor people. Pathetic. read more

Our first night in the area, my girlfriend and I tried Turtleback Taphouse, anticipating a gastropub feel, with an extensive beer menu (it's in the name, right?). What we discovered was a restaurant wanting to offer an upper-scale dining experience. Perhaps we should've chosen to eat in the bar area, because we were the only ones in the dining room. Our server was very cordial and attentive, but a little stiff, which added to the weirdness of our experience. I got a beer, while my girlfriend got a hot toddy, which was quite good. However, we were taken aback at the menu choices, as they were pricier than expected (having a typical taphouse in mind). I got a burger, which was good, if unexceptional, while my girlfriend got their vegetarian option, timbale, which was also good but portioned quite small. We ate at night, so we didn't get to enjoy any of the views. And from the website, it seems that the place is undergoing a shift in 'dining experience.' So maybe we just caught them in the growing pains. read more

Great views of the golf course and area mountains. We had the fish & chips and it was really good. Service was perfect and the beer was nice and cold. Couldn't ask for anything better. GPS was sort of confused on how to get there, so I followed the signs on the road thru the golf course. I'll certainly go back when I'm in the area. read more

Freakin gross! Not worth your rough drive! Everything was gross. I won't even explain it. Gross gross and did I mention gross? My plate looked like a dog had vommitted! They took my plate off my ticket. Offered me free dessert and even gave me a $50 gift card. I took none of the above. What good did all that make up effort for a horrible meal do? Should've got it right the first, second and third time. I gave up ok on the fourth. Go somewhere else! I won't even mention Ana's service sucked. From the outside, this place looks great and their deck out back has amazing views. Otherwise it took us 45 minutes for someone to take our food order, and another 45 to get the food. This was on a Wednesday night. We had to flag down the one waitress who was hustling to cover most tables after the waiter assigned to us just... never came back. The owner of the place was there but not jumping in to help, just complaining about unemployment and the cost of doing business. There were only ten tables of people since they had a large section cordoned off, so the excuses of "we're so busy!" we're a little hard to swallow. Speaking of hard to swallow, the food was overcooked and definitely nothing to write home about. Skip the food and come here for a drink and the views, but be prepared to go order your drink yourself at the bar. read more

We loved this place and it allows dogs, but because our dog barked at the golf carts twice, we got kicked out. The hostess was rude about it and the only other table occupied didn't seem upset, but when we apologized to them they got even more rude. The were New Yorkers, go figure. The waitress was a sweetheart. Don't allow dogs if you're going to cry about a few barks. read more

Sierra del Rio Golf Course now has a fantastic chef and great menu to along with a great golf experience. Had the nachos with a Taphouse burger on the patio and enjoyed the view of Turtleback Mountain. Outstanding! read more

I rarely leave reviews but felt compelled after a really horrible experience here. The place is terribly understaffed and when I spoke to the manager and the *owner* all they did was complain about how unemployment was preventing them from hiring more people. They had no idea how badly they told on themselves -- if you're a business who can't compete with unemployment I don't know why you're in business. Further, the owner just stood there while his beleaguered staff attempted to keep up. He did *nothing* to help them. Just stood there glad-handing at the entrance. If you're an owner of a restaurant who cares at all about its reputation and it's clear your people need help, you jump in and help. You run food. You take orders. You talk to tables. You make drinks behind the bar. You do *something*. This guy doesn't get it. He just doesn't. Great location, terrible management. read more

This pub is located in the Sierra Del Rio Golf Clubhouse. It is not a snack bar! They have full service beer, wine and spirits along with a menu of appetizers, stews, and gourmet sandwiches. The food is great! They are COVID compliant and the patio is open. There are butane heaters and clean blankets if you get cold. They have regular dining tables and outdoor seating areas that are really comfortable. The patio is huge and overlooks the golf course! The parking is plentiful and the entire place is very clean. They have a bar inside but we didn't get to see it because of COVID. The bathrooms are nice and clean too. The service was impeccable and attentive. All of the staff showed they cared about their clientele having everything they need. The management team just took over in Spring 2020 and they are making a lot of much needed changes! This is a perfect halfway meeting place between ABQ and Las Cruces. It is a best kept secret right now but won't be for long. We went there on a Saturday afternoon in December and there was hardly a crowd. I am not employed by this group and did not get paid for this review. read more
