The club is private and members are from all over the states and the U.K. 6,960 yards f from the longest tees for a par of 72 . The course rating is 74.5 and it has a slope rating of 138 on Bermuda grass. Designed by Tom Watson. I did cut and paste that info, but it really is an amazing links course. First hole is straight forward par four, but after hitting your second shot on @2, a great par 5 with a great risk / reward second shot, the course really begins to show its character. I may get my hole numbers confused, hole 4 gives you two fairways, but they assign 1 a day to play, 7 is a 100 yard, completely blind par 3, I have hit lob wedge and 8 iton into. 11-12-12 all spectacular,16 is the Turnberry hole, which is the signature hole, 17 is super risky, how much marsh are you willing to cut? The course is just immaculate, I saw a grounds crew member cutting grass around the sprinkler heads with scissors! Enough can not be said about Cassique (the chief of the Kiawah Indian tribe) I will add to this review.

The grass is cut so well, every ball on the fairways looks to be sitting upon a pool table, you can see the entire ball. The backside of The River stating with 16, a spectacular par 5 to another beauty the par 3 17th, hitting a small quick green, with the intercoastal water way as the back drop. Since you have to walk, it's helpful to have someone carry your bag as well as provide instruction for hole play as this was our first visit. We got there early to buy some logo wear and leverage the practice facilities. I played the forward tees which were over 5200 yards which is long. The fairways were open but there is a lot of water on the course so I did lose a few balls. Tee boxes, fairways, waste areas, and greens were all very well kept. The course is long. If you can hit the ball straight, you can stay out of most trouble. We golfed with a couple of people who were college friends. They were great companions. We were there on a very windy day. The first 4 and last 4 holes were against the wind and the rest with the wind. The wind definitely affected your shot, even putts. Again it was helpful to have a caddie help you through this challenge. Every person we met was friendly and helped enhance the experience. Loved it.

DEVIN was outstanding, personality, personable, forthcoming, pleasant and it did not feel like he was pushing our family along. Devin can not carry the group so a point t/ star had to be taken away. THE TIP WILL SUFFER!!! The course is beautiful the greens are nice the rough is just that and I love it, it slows down my swing keeping me in play giving me many opportunities to stay on part. Pun intended lol I will make sure when I make reservations next year I will request Devin.

The new clubhouse will likely be beautiful when it is completed but today it was.only a concrete foundation by the 18th green. The temporary trailer was ok as a stand-in. The people at the course were very friendly and it was really a nice experience. The course was in very nice shape except a few greens where a section on the edge was replaced and had a lot of sand covering the new grass. The pin placement on the holes were in locations where that section of the green was a minimal distraction unless you miss hit the approach shot. My playing partners were great and had some experience on the course. That always make it easier to play your 1st round at a course. I was able to experience several of the large green side bunkers and found them to be very manageable. There were no high lips to get over and the white sand was soft and consistent. If you fly into one of the well placed fairway bunkers on a drive you could easily plug directly down into it. That was the only spot I would say was frustrating. Keep your drives out of those bunkers that were purposely put there to get "normal" golfers. Kiawah Island is a special place. I have been been impressed with all of the golf properties. The staff really make you feel welcome from the porters, drivers, hotel staff, golf staff.

I was there with a group of 6 others for a mini golf vacation. This is a Jack Nicklaus course well…read moredesigned with open fairways and challenging greens. It was unfortunate that it started raining during the round to the point where we could only get 9 holes in before they closed the course. We played from the silver tees and I still shot a decent score even with the inclement weather. Going through Golfscapes, they were able to get us a partial refund. I'd love to go back and finish sometime soon.

Great choice! Our unit was on the first level, positioned on the 17th hole. It had an enormous back deck with remarkable views. The advantage of staying on the lagoon was seeing all the beautiful greenery, white cranes, blue herons, deer, and other wildlife. Such a serene atmosphere! The condo itself was quiet, contemporary, and super clean. Would I stay there again? Absolutely!!

The fairways are stellar and greens are challenging and true. My team ended up 7 under. We started on the par 5 hole #8. One of our guys hit the ball around 250 years, I hit next for 185 yards and made it onto the green to sink a 45 foot putt for eagle. Memories like this keep you going back. I understand the Ocean Course is more picturesque and challenging, but this course is also excellent. The staff was more than helpful and friendly. No carts allowed in parking lot.

Oak Point was one of 3 Kiawah Island golf courses I visited as part of a short golf vacation with…read moresome buddies. Its a Clyde Johnston designed course with some interesting nuance to it. While its a challenging course, playing in somewhat inclement weather made it a bit more challenging. Of the 3 courses we played-- Turtle Point and Osprey Point-- I found this to be the most difficult---certainly based on my score. Just the fact that you start out with a par 5 on the first hole should say something. How about having 3 par 5's and 3 par 3's on the front 9? I don't think I'd seen that before. Then 2 par 5's and 2 par 3's on the back 9. The back 9 for me was much more difficult. The condition of the fairways and greens are what you'd expect from a Kiawah Island course. The folks on the course and the pro shop were very friendly and helpful.

Oak Point is the only one of the 5 Kiawah Island courses that is located just outside of the Kiawah…read moregate. I feel Oak Point is the best course for a variety of skill level players, it would be challenging to the novice golfer and the experienced player will have a fair test, but may prefer the other 4 courses. The par 5's are reachable, but typically guarded on 3 sides with bunkers or other non green zones. Bordering the historic Haulover Creek and the Kiawah River, Oak Point was built on the grounds of an old indigo and cotton plantation. As I mentioned with the other Kiawah golf courses, Oak Point is another example of quality golf that Kiawah Island has to offer. The 18-hole Oak Point plays 6,759 yards of golf from the tips for a par of 72. The course rating is 73.8 and it has a slope rating of 140 on Bermuda grass, designed by Clyde B. Johnston. I have to rate Oak Point at the bottom of list of my Kiawah Golf Courses, but do not have that dissuade you from playing there, it is still excellent..The signature hole is #18
